I still do not understand why people idolize and love actors, singers and all sorts of other clowns who deceive them, they call them stars! But the real stars are such simple men with golden hands and a clear head like you! Pedantry, accuracy, accuracy, thoughtfulness of every detail and line! Sometimes I see that it is not the goal of the final product that is important for you, but you enjoy the most expensive way to this goal! Thanks for your work!

Great video and excellent hydraulic power unit. I would have used a manual proportional directional control valve instead of the solenoid-actuated one. Instead of pushbuttons, you'll use a lever to change direction and flow. You would have more control of the speed and flow this way without the jerkiness.

Dude, I just found your Channel last night from your Fixture Table Video. I immediately Subscribed, and started Binge Watching your Videos. I don't think I've ever found someone so quite like myself = OCD about doing everything the absolute Best that you can possibly do it. This Pump is just over the Frigging Top! The Flow Control Knob alone is a work of Art, Pure Mechanical Porn. I got hooked on Welding years ago, and caught the Machining Bug about 4 years ago. I am in the process of getting ready to build a new Shop in which will be going a brand new Lathe, and am currently looking for a Bridgeport in great shape to purchase also. Your Table Video is gonna save me a lot of money. I had no idea anyone in China was making these Tables to this level of Quality, so I will be reaching out to your Contact to purchase almost the Identical Package that you have. I will be binge watching the rest of your Videos. I would really like to chat with you about the Fixture Table when you have the time. I am including my contact info. Would like to say Thanks for such a Top Shelf Channel for all the stuff that I love, Welding, Fabrication, Machining, etc, etc. The Video work is second to none that I've seen, and I follow about everyone on KZbin that have a good Fab/Weld/Machine Channel. Keep up the Stellar work. It is actually Therapeutic for people like us.LOL Email: moonerstools@gmail.com, Cell: 540-407-0339, Instagram: @pchambers379 Thanks, Phillip Chambers

As usual great video with excellent workmanship. Something that works well for me is to use some alum angle to clamp those thin guage sheets with a bit of a gap. When tacked the weld won't stick to the alum angle and you can run a nice fillet weld. Again great job.

You can run most three phase vfds on 220 single phase without running through the phase converter! Here’s the catch, when they build a single phase to 3phase vfd they beef up the front end. But if you size up a vfd 1.8x (in the industry so go 2x) you can just run it on single phase 220 which is less work for you and wear and tear on the rotory phase converter (you can still run it on three phase as well then which is why I use this method) Love your videos and how you dig into each craft before you attempt any of it you really do beautiful work! and that torch is beautiful!

Another good video. FYI most VFDs will take single phase & create a 3 phase output. Almost all the drives I have worked with in my 22+ year career have a common dc bus that the IGBT’s(or enter your other load side firing device) fire the outputs to the motor. You will get a DC bus sag & potentially a low DC bus alarm.

Such a cool project. Also love your torch setup. With insert tooling, look out for finishing or super finishing inserts if you wanna take a small DOC. Most iso inserts come in those edge profiles. The benefit of the inserts is that the coatings they use mean you can have a much higher surface speeds for steels than bare, uncoated carbide. There's loads of surplus inserts on ebay, but it sure wouldn't have made such a good video!

FYI, there's no worries when applying single-phase power to multi-phase units. You wouldn't want to run it that way (doubtful if it even would run), but it's not uncommon when repairing electronic units like that to apply a single phase and bring it up slow, just to get the control circuitry to come up and proceed with troubleshooting.

Wow, what a stunning build and informative guide, my burning question tho is - what is the build cost compared to an off the shelf unit, not including time and effort of the maker, is it cost effective to self build one of these, i certainly could not achieve such perfection but could cobble together a working machine

For the quality of the pair of videos and the ambition of the project, it's almost criminal these pair of videos have only 13k views. You obviously put a lot of time and effort into both the project and videos (Part 1 and 2), and I want these videos to get more views. So you can take what I say with a grain of salt but it should help. First, you can rename the video and change out the thumbnails. KZbin will recognize the change in name and thumbnail and will optimize engagement (algorithms) for changing them: meaning it's a good idea to change the video title and thumbnail to attract more viewers on under-performing videos. I've binged watched your last 15 videos and even though these are more recent, this pair of videos were the last for me to watch. I believe it comes down to two things. The title on both videos actually don't really convey what you're trying to accomplish or the ambitions of the project. I was actually surprised to see just how much you fabricated on your own and how much you had to put together this project as a DIY project--that's what the title is missing entirely and it leaves the impression it's about something far less ambitious. The other aspect is the thumbnail, the quality of your work is actually too good. I genuinely thought you bought what was in the thumbnail as it looks like it was manufactured by a large team of workers in a big company. The common trend of maker videos, and maybe even KZbin videos is that you want to convey that you're embarking on something ambitious. If you note the most viewed videos in your channel all have titles say you are creating something (from scratch). I would probably rename the videos, "Making my own Hydraulic Power Unit - Part 1/2" (you want to keep the parts in there as KZbin will auto-append videos in parts at the top of the recommendations). That being said, changing your thumbnails to also show a split view of a before (parts laying around) and after (from pre-fab to near completion) would do a better job at conveying that you set out to do an ambitious DIY project along with the video title. You don't have to leave a thumbnail and video title set in stone after you upload, and changing things up would help bring in views in something you've obviously put a lot of time in. I'm not sure if it matters to you that much, but I think it wouldn't hurt to try a few variations so that your hard work can be seen by more people who definitely would enjoy it.
@westweld
@westweld 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you I really appreciate you noticing the time that went into these.....I do think you're right my thumbnail game is pretty weak, I will try what you suggested and make some new ones, I actually have photshop and that was one of the main reasons I got it, ive just been putting off learning to use it, ive just barely figured out premere pro haha. You have one of the oldest youtube accounts ive seen, 14 years I'll take that as a sign of wisdom and give your suggestion a try. Aaron, I wasn't clear on how you saved a thousand dollars. Would you mind helping me understand this? Great video! Another question is how the tapping arm knows how to use the right amount of torque to prevent breakage for the size of tap and the material you are tapping. A third question is whether the bender you use is more flexible that the Rogue unit, if you have any familiarity with that unit. I wondered if you could make those same tubes with the rogue unit? Thanks!

A similar sized vfd that was single phase to 3 phase brand new from invertec would cost 1500 to 2000 dollars but the one I bought used was only a few hundred (I actually saved more than 1000) the downside was the one I bought was 3 phase input and 3 phase output so I have to use my rotary phase converter to run it. As for the tapping arm, there is a different holder for every tap and each one has a built in adjustable clutch that is set from the factory but can be adjusted for different materials. 🙂
