Hydretain Moisture Manager - Is it the real deal?

Being in the transition zone cane be a challenge with cool season turf, especially in the dog days of summer. The lawn is stressed to the max so I try to do everything I can to relieve some of those stressors. I've been curious about Hydretain for a while and wanted to try it for myself and document my results. Follow along to see how this experiment turns out!

I have 10,000 sq ft. I used the granular in May on the entire yard. I purchased a gallon of the liquid as it was more economically efficient. I applied liquid on half (5000 sq ft) on my lawn this week. On the remaining 5000 sq ft I applied Yucca powder as a test

Thank you for making a very nice and informative video. If you don’t mind, id like to ask a couple of questions. 1. What dial setting did you have your spreader on? 2. What was your watering schedule (summer season) prior to hydretrain and whats the new schedule now? PS. I live in NJ and also have cool season grass. Thank you

The settings for my spreader are not listed on the bag so I started with a low setting and adjusted from there. Last year my watering schedule was roughly 35 minutes per zone - 3 days a week. I am going to cut that down to 2 days per week and see how that works for now.

I assume it's pet-safe, as advertised. But I'm not really keen on my Labrador wanting to dig up the lawn, eat the lawn, or roll in The Smell of Success. Anyone have experience with that? Does it encourage the dog to eat the lawn or take a stink-bath?

Just curious - have ya tried Liquid Sea Kelp / Liquid Kelp.. Allegedly, Kelp increase your plant resistance to stress, such as heat, drought conditions... ??? This year my first time applying kelp, so im just curious if ya have any input or experience... Thank You 🙏🏻

Yes I do use kelp in my program quite a bit. Because I have a cool season turf in the transition zone I am constantly fighting heat and drought stress. Liquid kelp and micronutrients are great and this year I wanted to give hydretain a try.

I believe it was the J setting. My spreader does not have the numbered system like most Scott's spreaders.
