I watched ur first vid on hydretain trying to decide whether to buy it. After seeing u actually did a 3 week update and stay 100% honest, u just earned a new subscriber. Hard to find people not skewing numbers and results for their pockets.

Hello, thanks for the video. I was actually looking for a video, on hydretain with ortho dial and spray, to find out what setting to use. I don't know why some of these companies give you Instructions that's so hard to use 15 to 1 I know what that is but how do you convert that teaspoon, tablespoons, ounces to a gallon of water. I have got to say with my use, I have not been happy with hydretain and the comparison videos that I watched like yours. I don't really see a difference. Thanks for the comparison😊

I've used it for 2 years. I have a few areas that don't get adequate sprinkler coverage. Those areas get the H and have shown benefits....

Same. Areas near the curb/street tend to be stressed quicker and they look healthier than they ever have after me using hydretain. In NC as well and we’ve been extremely lucky with rain so far. Let’s see what happens during the summer months.

We had one of the driest Aprils on record, followed by a near record-setting May in terms of rainfall. It remains to be seen how the rest of the summer will turn out.

We need more of the wet stuff soon! Starting to see some stress. Hopefully tomorrow or Thursday will be the day it dumps on us again.

A strong root system doesn’t ‘need’ hydretain. It works most effectively on compact rocky soils, new seed with shallow roots (why golf courses use), and non routinely watered lawn. Cheers
@MrFergusonLawn6 ай бұрын
Right….which exactly what my bank is. Rocky soil. It’s showing stress the same on each section, so really it’s not helping there at all if we are being g honest.
@gregtaylor55686 ай бұрын
I started using Hydretain on my hot spots only, I have a bank like you do, I just spray the crap out of it and then water water water. It helps some with the southern exposure. But I agree it isn't magic.

I appreciate your honesty in the review. It would be interesting to see if it helped hold “trouble spots” if you were able to irrigate as you wish and not having to wait for rain. I have trouble areas that get regular water- there are less of them and they are smaller as soil and lawn have improved. Still curious if hydretain would help but not gonna rush out a buy it. I’ll stay the course with my plan for now.
@danielgomes47545 ай бұрын
IMO if you get regular rains you don't need hydretain. Here in Tampa, FL, our rainy season starts on June 1st +/- one week. This year its delayed till maybe after the 7th of June so a little hydretain would definitely help as the lawn is stressed out and I am just watering enough with my version of hydretain (baby shampoo + kelp + humic ) .
@robbobtheplucker30826 ай бұрын
HTrain is just up in the air with me right now. Seeing nothing either. Rain coming as you mentioned, so I'll get out and give the yard another dose when it starts to rain. We shall see!!!!!!!!!
@MrFergusonLawn6 ай бұрын
Yep, it's such a hit or miss type product. Still don't really know what to think of it for the lawn itself.
@ericrodrigues47585 ай бұрын
The regular hydretain doesnt work so well, try Hydretain ES. And put a little extra on the areas near pavement.

What grass type do you have , Mr.Ferguson? Tall fescue, KBG? If I remember correctly, it's a mix, correct?

Tttf, small amount of kbg and Texas bluegrass.

So many videos on KZbin say there not committed to one certain product or company but yet most of them are using the same brand of products from the KZbinr we all know. Why not do a full season on things you can buy from a big box store or a mom and pops local store or nursery. I mean it’s”DIY” made easy right. Nitrogen is nitrogen fast release or slow release. It will bring the color you like regardless of brand. All the other crap in a bag is really nothing to be concerned with. But at least you did speak the truth about the magic water. Props for that. You do have a beautiful yard good sir but in my opinion you spend way too much money for results that can be achieved with Scott’s or sta green for half the price. If you wanna spray go get some def from Walmart. Cheapest nitrogen on the market and gives beautiful color. Save your hard earned money good sir.

I get it man and I appreciate it. I think I’ll do some “big box store” reviews next year, maybe. Plus, I enjoy helping small businesses, and I am willing to pay a couple bucks more for that. My relationship is greater than just a consumer with YM and GCI Turf. I advertise their products, but both have given me items free of charge out of the kindness of their heart as well. Like the 6500 giveaway. That keeps me loyal too. However, if I wanna spray, I’m not just gonna spray N lol. Sure the color is great, but growth this time of year costs in mowing, gasoline and drinks to rehydrate. Ive continued to try Hydretain bc I dont know how I feel about it … still. I think it’s a mixed bag. Again, that’s for the well written comment man.
