I have a checklist for when visitors come over. Luckily no more panic cleaning, because everything is reset daily by managing my hotspots and swishing & swiping.🎉 List 1 (a few visitors) Prepare snacks / drinks Remove cat hair from seats last minute Check supplies (paper/towels/soap) in bathroom Pick flowers for decoration Put clean garbage can in bathroom Remove personal items (medicine etc) Add nice scent (few drops etherical oil) inside toilet paper roll) List 2 (many visitors) Get out extra chairs Get out extra dishes Get 2nd table from the attic Put our coats upstairs to make room

Trying hard to stay on track, but depression and bad health last 10 years make it hard. I am however, every day making sure I do at least shine sink, swish and swipe, make bed and clothes to shoes. Some days clothes to shoes gets skipped, but at least I keep trying. You make it easier to keep trying, so thank you.

Thank you so much for this. I have felt so overwhelmed by housework. Now, after 3 weeks of following your videos and the Flylady system, the house is much tidier and cleaner. I have now done three weekly home maintenance hours, so this week, inspired by Steph, I did a Mini Maintenance! 5 mins on 4 tasks, 20 minutes in total. This worked because the place was not in too much of a state thanks to the 3 previous weekly home maintenance hours as well as my version of the zone cleaning and decluttering. I have created 4 zones to clean most of the house. This week I start into my 4th zone and I'm already looking forward to getting back into the other zones again! I love using my timer or your 15 minute videos as motivation. I also bought a sparkly display book in Dealz to create my control journal. This has given me control and enjoyment rather than the overwhelming sense of inadequacy that I could not run my house. Sorry for the long message and thank you again.

Thank you Diane for this video. It’s been 2 weeks since I’ve been doing FlyLady. I can’t remember how I lived before 😮 My Aunt and Uncle came to visit yesterday and I was so proud of my uncluttered clean home 🏡 and was ready for their visit without having to do any work or panic. I’m still working on my House Management binder and will add these great ideas. It’s getting dark here in Boston and I’ve gotten my electric candles out 🕯 and added my Fall tablecloth yesterday. Thank you for all you do. 💕🙏🏻

I’m so happy I found you’re channel! I just recently found Flylady and her method makes sense to me. I’m 59 and have had depression most of my adult life. I’m having a bout of it at the moment and I’m working through it, so it’s very difficult to get motivated to do anything. You’re inspiring me to do at least something, even If it‘s minimal. You're so enthusiastic, I wish I had an ounce of your energy! (I can’t believe you’re 52!) Thanks!

Thank you for doing these Control Journal videos! I was just thinking I wanted to do a restart and figure out how to get my children started on FlyLady routines and this was good motivation for me to clarify my own routines. We have been working on getting up on time, getting dressed and getting beds made this week. I think next week we will focus on evening routines. We probably did that backwards, but my husband wanted to build their "Make your bed" habit first. I think he listened to a podcast and got motivated or something. :D Also, I have been waking up early to work on a book I am writing and I scrounged up a bunch of candles to build in some hygge. It makes getting up early much easier when I can picture a mug of tea and some cozy candles waiting for me.

Your KZbin channel is an inspiration as well as an absolute joy. I am following the FlyLady system as best I can with a home that is undergoing a lot of building work (walls demolished, new doorways and a dismantled kitchen). I have been using a bullet journal for several years, so I am incorporating FlyLady into that - it works well. It is great to learn about the Danish way of life. I have been to Copenhagen for work and enjoyed cycling to meetings and exploring the city. Thank you for your motivational videos - keep them coming.

I am glad you mentioned bullet journaling in association with a control journal, it gave me a good idea... I only dabble in bullet journaling, but I am thinking of keeping blank paper in my control journal to do my morning list and basic schedule for the day. I am a type 7 in the Enneagram personality testing and a suggestion I got from there was to get all of my swirling thoughts out on paper first thing in the morning. It helps get rid of the overwhelm and gives me a clear idea of where I want to start. I don't do anything fancy in my bullet journal, so I think combining the two might be a good solution for me.

I used to be a great writer of shopping lists and such, but I married a man who does everything digitally. Oh, the look you get when you hand a handwritten shopping list to someone who has an app for everything. Also, this morning I had to wait to go down into the dark basement, because the bloody lightbulb was updating...
@thechickenwire6136
@thechickenwire6136 5 жыл бұрын
I absolutely love our digital shopping list. I use Trello and I have a different card for each store we normally use. It lets you make lists and I make a list for each aisle (for the main store we use) and then I just uncheck the items we need. You can hide all of the checked items, so it only shows the unchecked items. My husband has the same app, so he just opens it and can see what's on the list. Then I don't have to remake the list each time, or consider what we need. I just go down the list and uncheck things we are out of or add new items as needed. It saves me hours of time each month! However, I keep a paper list that I can strike off tasks as I go. Something about that physical list makes me happy, I want to see the progress I have made and I can't do that if it's hiding on my phone. :D -Katrina

I've started a section in my control journal that is ... hmm... instructions and numbers in the event of serious injury, or death, of my husband or myself. I know this is a morbid thing to contribute to the comments for this upbeat vid, but for so long I've ignored that kind of stuff and at least now I have *something* written, and instructions that I think I could follow if I was falling apart with worry or grief. Best to do it now when we're in good spirits, right? I worry, therefore I am.
