29:37 it’s funny because they did a similar thing with Lana and Bizarro. That would be classed as S Assault because she did not consent to do that with bizarro she thought it was Clark the whole time. And what made it worse was that Clark was mad at her for not knowing it wasn’t him like bro are you serious? It’s a carbon copy and she was clearly taken advantage of. Clana has been repeatedly dragged through the dirt countless times with these ridiculous plot lines.

Smallville really opened my eyes to the industry in Vancouver. I moved there shortly before the first season started filming, and it was all over the news paper and radio, and some guy started driving his personal dukes of hazard car around to show off to John. Seen it being filmed a few times, but was too shy to say anything. My sister and niece did run up to Tom one time when they were filming downtown, and he was very nice. They were intercepted by a Ron Jeremy looking guy. It was hilarious, but he was very kind. Tom that is, not the other guy. He was just scary and he did his job very well. 😂

When he told her he didn't love her anymore, she took a step back and it looked like it physically hurt her. I really wish the writers would have chosen a different way. He could have told her that he has unresolved issues he can't share with her and it not fair to her so he lets her go so she can be happy. I remembered Simone and her necklace. And especially when one of these people in the relationship is supposed to became the saviour of the world. And in fact Smallville writers knew that, so much that in the beginning Lana used to literary wore Kryptonite, meaning she made him weak, and Superman needed to be with someone that made him strong. You handled the questions really well. Michael Rosenbaum - I cant believe you asked someone if they've had sex with the show on in the background! ((Shaking head disapprovingly)) No, I havent either... 🙄😅 This wasnt the best Smallville episode, but I really liked the Brainiac and Lex scenes. The breakup scene was beautifully shot, albiet sad at the same time. Martha is the best, and she was right - way in the back of Clark's mind, maybe he knows that Lana isn't the one. I really wish this was the end of CLANA. I was over and done with that at this point. However, I was so upset for Lana when she saw Clark almost doing the deed with Simone - Kristin really did a great job. But yes, Clark definitely was SA'd in this episode. SPOILERS (I'm SO sorry Ryan - DON'T LOOK!:) Lois and Clark start catching feelings/love season 8, date during season 9, get engaged season 10 and marry by the end of the series (well, technically by the future scene.) So no, it doesnt take until the very last episode of season 10 for those two to admit feelings/date...good lord, that would've been torture (for me) if they dragged it out that long! LOL. Anyway - Tom, you did a good job acting in this one, even though this was a weird/dusturbing episode. I cracked up at your reactions during the podcast. 😅❤ Looking forward to next week. 29:16 she actually raises up a good point there. It was 2005 or 2006 and it was taken lightly BUT the exact same scene and context TODAY would create toxic controversy in social networks. It's also proofed that hypnosis can work on people and do they are asked to to BUT not if those actions go against the person's nature. So, to put it more simply, Clark is guy that actually wants to have sex but it's the lying part with lana that makes him hold back and be awkward. Simone represents somehow a relieve from that situation making Clark to be more sexually relaxed and confident

I liked the caller's question and Ryan's explanation. I've always wondered why that thing was able to hypnotise Clark, especially since we know he's immune to such things-he can't even have his mind read unless it's by another alien. I wish they had given a clearer explanation, but I recall them mentioning it was 'a thousand times stronger.' Adding to what Ryan said-that, deep down, Clark didn’t truly want to be with Lana-there’s a belief that you can’t be hypnotised unless you’re somewhat willing. And, when hypnotised, you can’t be forced to do something that you don't want to deep down, for example. like taking your own life, because we’re hardwired to survive. Ryan's explanation could therefore make sense for why Clark was affected but I just guessing here, like I said I wish they offer some kind of explanation why he was affected.

Most part of the fandom weren’t shipping Clana at this point. All the situation with Lana became boring and annoying. When Lois showed up on season 4, people started shipping and rooting for Clois.

I don't know about that. There were a Lot of people who said they had to "understand" that Clana wouldn't end up together cause they still shipped tem hard.

Annette was actually older than Michael is today by a bit over 1.5 years. So that head injury would be way worse for her. ;)

I always saw Lex saying “Clark you’re obviously hypnotised how else could you throw me across the room” not as a tell the audience but as Lex STILL attempting to solve the Clark Kent mystery. He already suspects - he sent Simone there EXPRESSLY to find out about Clark’s extraordinary qualities. When he says “how else could you throw me across the room” i think he’s just hoping that Clark under hypnosis will genuinely just spill the beans.

"The End of Clana?!?" God, we WISHED! 😭😂 Tom holding onto the spoilers about when Lois and Clark would be thing was too funny, also ironically enough Michael wasn't too far off with his exaggerated prediction 🤣

Ryan's prediction was optimistic about when Lois and Clark become a couple, and it was funny seeing Tom try to hold back spoilers.

They dragged that out WAY longer than it should have been.

It was their breakup for the next 1.5 seasons though, so I didn't even realize they were wrong when they were saying it... 😅

Michael makes a comment concerning the multiple hits to Martha Kent's skull, and the lasting impact it could have. Michael, with the number of times you got hit on the head.....oh.....maybe you're right.

I can't start season 6 because I don't want to get ahead of the pod. At the moment I'm currently binging Gotham. I just finished the first 4 episodes of season 2. And now here I am watching the pod.

What didnt make sense was that Clark said he will always love lana the episode before, then said he doesn't love her this episode

30:30 When people are in altered states of consciousness they actually use their physical strength much more, some regulatory mechanisms are simply inhibited. Lex's sentence is correct. It only gets weird because he's so suspicious of Clark's abilities that he even bothered someone to prove it. And when he succeeds, he doesn't seem to believe it.
