Oh man, I just found your channel and haven't been more excited to subscribe to something in a long time. I was recently explaining this process to my girlfriend's seven year old, and your channel will be perfect to show her, and potentially a real inspiration. I'm a prototype engineer now, but my university roots are in animation. Your work is beautiful, and I'm so grateful that it's being captured in such a captivating and ultimately educational way. Cheers!

It depends how bad a bump.... but yes ...a bad bump is a shot killer

Stunning work! The shot @ 0:05 is one if the best stop-motion time-lapse sequences I’ve seen! Is it from Kubo? 🤔🤘

Is this actually "straight ahead"? I'm sure you have a dope sheet and all, but do you do a crude pencil test of the extremes first? or a cg animatic/previs first?
@JustinRaschAnimation Жыл бұрын
Straight ahead is the only way in stop mo.... i do draw thumbnails sometimes ... but puppets often cant do what a drawing can. So its more like an idea i chase

How do you remember all the different motions you need to keep track of? characters, overlap, effects, etc? Seems impossible @@JustinRaschAnimation

Crazy. with 2d and 3d animation we get to at least focus on one motion at a time. @@JustinRaschAnimation

@@JustinRaschAnimation I’ve always wondered, how do you ensure the models stand up when they’re not attached to a rig arm, do you pin the feet to the floor?

Hi Justin, how do you guys film the BTS time lapse shots like the swinging monkey shot? Are you shooting a frame with you in the picture and then right after a frame after you've cleared? Is the shot camera a completely different camera? I've always wondered this
@JustinRaschAnimation Жыл бұрын
all of the above....usually ill have a separate camera set up just to timelapse while im working so i dont have to think about it....on some shows it can be from the same camera taking 2 exposures....but typically its a separate camera. The monkey one with the wide angle lens is a go pro taped to the motion control crane ...
