Just had my robotic assisted laproscopic surgery with vaginal removal of the uterus. Thank you so much for your videos. I had my surgery on Monday, and today is Friday, and I am still quite sore, especially at the lower right portal. I use a pillow on my lap for drives, which helps over bumps, and a smaller one when coughing. I asked my Gyn Oncologist about the pain you mentioned being similar to back labour. She said none of her patients had mentioned that, and she has done 1500 of these surgeries. She thought it must be from something not related to the hysterectomy. I am glad that my cancer was 1B, and that I will likely not need further treatment, just observation. I am glad you are feeling so much better. I am finding it difficult to sit on the toilet riser or getting up from any seating, especially getting in and out of the car. Still using my walker to walk from the house down the driveway and across the road to get the mail. Did that yesterday and over did it, I felt really hot and needed to sit down. But, other than the soreness, things seem to be getting better on a daily basis. Not rushing myself, and taking naps when I feel the need. Thank you again for your support Dr. Tiffany. My Gyn Oncologist is totally wonderful, I love her to death, and cannot believe how I managed to have her help when needed most. Everyone at the hospital was very kind too, and the procedure, was a lot easier than I expected, just dealing with the recovery is taking time.

@@nathanandtiffany Thank you. Yesterday, I read the biopsy report. Don't want to speak too soon, but it seems I had 1B Endometriod carcinoma, but ovaries, fallopian tubes, lymph nodes, and the fluid they check all came back clear. Isn't it amazing that at 10.30 on Monday morning I had cancer, but by 2pm, the same day, I was cancer free? How magical is that? Just need to be checked every so often for the next three years. Having survived and thrived after a PE and muliple DVTs, I am sure I can survive this too, Going to be very strict about eating Plant based, high fiber, low protein, no processed foods and doing my best to eat organic non GMO whenever possible. Have not eaten meat for more than 67 years, but plan to give up dairy, ride my bike, and be around to see my little three year old grand-daughter grow up. What a gift! I am truly grateful and will do nothing to waste the time I have been given. So, tell all the ladies undergoing this surgery, that it was much easier than I expected, but feeling a bit tired, and still quite a bit sore bending or getting up or down, and of course, cannot lift. Everyone at the hospital was so kind, and the food was a real treat too, like staying in a hotel...lol

Hello, I am day 10 post hysterectomy and doing well. 57 years old, and had total removal (uterous, tubes, ovaries and cervix). I’m finding the abdominal swelling is uncomfortable, and also having a very light spotting. Off all RX meds since day 4, but taking OTC just at night. My post op appointment is next week. Overall though, feeling great. Anything you can share on the swelling would be great. Maybe I’m just up and moving too much! All the best to you!

At 10 days some swelling is normal. If it is excessive definitely discuss with your OBGyn. You may find an abdominal binder helps a lot with the swelling and discomfort. Talk to your OBGyn to see if this is appropriate for you. Sounds like you are doing really well.

I am preparing for surgery next month. Can anyone tell me what type of underwear to wear after the surgery?

Usually you get these mesh undies at the hospital. They are actually kind of great in a very not sexy way. But you will get a few for the first several days. After that if you have an abdominal incision something that is not too tight or cuts across your incision. Think granny panties. I found wearing legging without undies to be nice too.

I got to keep my ovaries so I didn’t have any of those major changes. But anytime I’ve ever had surgery or anesthesia I always have about 3 to 4 months of pretty significant hair loss afterwards. It does stop but for me that’s normal

I have my surgery on the 12 of this month. On my 6th day post opt I have a wedding to attend. Do think I’ll be able to go.

You should definitely have this conversation with your surgeon. If you have to fly I would say absolutely not. If you are cleared to go by your surgeon I would also say no alcohol, no dancing, have someone drive you, plan to stay only a short time, make sure you have a ride to be able to leave at any time. Most importantly listen to your body and don’t push it. This is an intense request 6 days post op.

Fantastic! I know I should post an update. Back to work full time in 4 weeks. Nerve resolved in 2 weeks. Best decision to have it done.
