I appreciate the video I've got an 07 Hyundai Tucson 2.7 and the water pumps was leaking a year ago I put some stop leak in held for a while but now I got to do it and now with your help I think I'll be able to do it I've got the manual on my computer but I just tried my computer and its broken. What are checks and repairs that should be made if the timing belt has already failed.

Cant get the damper off. Took 22mm bolt off. The damper has a dowel pin attached to the camshaft gear. The damper ,timing cover ,cam shaft gear, and timing belt all coming out at once. Thinking drill out dowel pin. What do you think?

Hi Dusty, Any tips on removing the lower serpentine belt pulley? Not sure if you were working on a Tucson but will I need to remove the wheel and fender lining to access the lower pulleys? Thanks.

Dusty thanks for the tips they will certainly come in handy. I have seen other videos that suggest that the left upper cam will jump a tooth when the tensioner pin is released. Is this true and is there anyway to prevent this? Thanks

what if the timing belt broke before replacing it. how do you find top dead center, and do you go with the timing marks on the cam?

Richard Pickell well the 2.7 is an interference motor so if it broke then then you have engine damage at the very least bent valves that being said there are marks on each cam and the cam cover and on the crank pulley and engine block to find top dead center

What's is your recommended service and change on a 200000km Hyundai sonata V6. Is it necessary to change the oil pump ,water pump and timing chain at the same time?

Most hyundia timing belts call for replacement at 60,000 miles

I fondly recall the days when a 20 dollar bill and a 9/16ths wrench is all that was required to replace the water pump on most everything.... course air conditioning hadn't been created for cars yet. Always something, ain't it?

These engines are Interference engines which means when the timing belt breaks, the valves that are open will be bent by the pistons so the heads will have to be removed and the valves and any damaged parts will have to be replaced. Many times the job costs more than the car is worth (check repairpal.com for a ballpark estimate)

yes wheel and plastic splash shield and do you mean harmonic balancer/crankshaft pulley when you say serpentine belt pulley?
