Oh shit! I already took my car to the auto shop to have the fuel pump and filter replaced for over $600! :( I should have done this all by myself and saved alot of money! Thank you so much for this video. I didn't know it was under the seat. If I have seen this video before, I would have done it myself. It's too later now ;(

my 2015 elan tea is shutting off a low idle and sometime while standing still. Changed the spark plugs and problem re occurred. You just gave me an idea to go for the fuel regulator next as it is the least costly.

Advice is to disconnect the battery cables before beginning the job and wait a bit for all juice to leave the system. Don't want any sparks

I bought a new fuel filter when my 2003 Elantra reached 105,000 miles because that's when the manual says to replace it, but the dealership said they don't replace them (maybe they want to sell you a whole fuel pump assembly). The process of replacing it seemed daunting though, and I put it off. Now it's at 160,000 miles and I watched this to see how big a job it really is. Should I attempt to just replace the filter if I'm having no other problems (other than decreased power and fuel economy) or should this be done only if you're going to replace everything? (I read that there are o-rings not included with new filters you need to reuse from the old part and I don't want to end up with a car that won't start because I messed up not putting it together just right!)

If I remember on this one, the fuel filter was attached inside the pump. It has been a long time though since I worked on this one.

Mitaire Odiete me a 59 year old woman and a 30 year old woman followed your video and completed the fuel pump change I see why parts of the video are clipped the struggle was real trying to disassemble the fuel pump case and got frustrating when the part where the c clip was at was not shown in the video if I had to do it again it would be much easier please use better lighting on your future video's you saved me a lot of money thanks.

How did you get the pressure valve disconnected? I've only bee able to get the fuel line disconnected but the pressure valve remains tight and won't come off.

I tell my customers I will only do this job as complete replace rebuild, including cover seal glue replacement. If the seal is not good the tank won't pressurize and will still have running and check engine light issues.

I've looked at oreilly's, autozone, rockauto for both an 06 elantra and my girlfriend's 04 accent (both have internal filters from what i have seen/read) and they are all trying to sell me the inline external filter.. not that white piece. I have the 03.. it boggs down at 30-40 mph.. been doing it over a year, hasn't gotten worse.. maybe spark plugs?

+jose gomez I removed the transmission oil pan, but nothing in there. I guess it should be somewhere inside the trans, but not sure if it indeed comes with one.
