I've got the original Ioniq, and it's a great car, but they've progressed so quickly. Amazing thing.

Nice review very nice But late posting this only 3 months ago when the my25 specs had been announced and new model levels too.
@PlanetautoUK2 ай бұрын
It’s only ever irrelevant if the vehicle is removed from sale 😀 a fair chunk of audience will buy this specifically when my25 is released - plus the road trip was released a few months earlier. Certain cars journalists just can’t get hold of a launch, thank you Alastair this was not the case for Ioniq 6 though 😀

It sacrifices so much rear cargo space in the boot due to the sloping roofline. You can put the rear seats down but that’s not convenient.
@PlanetautoUK5 ай бұрын
I saw no sacrifice infact we had a job filling it, and with the seats down loads of room.
@bullit1995 ай бұрын
@@PlanetautoUK it’s triangular shaped. It just doesn’t have the same amount of space as competitors such as the ID.4.
@PlanetautoUK5 ай бұрын
Still don’t see it in either this or ev6, I thought both utilised space well.
@martiangod5 ай бұрын
On paper the id4 is only 20 litres bigger, however you can slide the rear seats forward on the ioniq 5 amd make the boot bigger that an id4 boot, sounds like you've never even seen the ioniq in person, the boot is large@@bullit199

I would wait a few years before buying one to let the dealer network come up to speed on maintaining them. I’ve had my two month old ioniq in at a dealer for a warranty issue for almost a month now with still no sign of getting it back anytime soon. I expressed concern to Hyundai head office before dropping it off about the dealers ability to fix it and they told me that they were a blue star highly trained EV dealer. Shame because the car seemed pretty good but if it’s a month plus whenever something goes wrong why would you buy it?

@@PlanetautoUK the front gearbox was making some noise. When I explained that a “gear” type noise was coming from the front of the car to the dealer I was laughed at and told “no gearboxes mate, it’s electric” when I asked how an electric motor was driving both front wheels without some sort of gearbox transmitting the power I got laughed at again. Phone call the next day telling me the front gearbox had failed 🤣🤣 Hence my call to Hyundai about the competence of the dealer. So far it’s been a month.
@PlanetautoUK5 ай бұрын
@blockhead5178 what gearbox… it’s madness how little is known by people who should be told or learn in order to feedback or at least be in the know. How many miles did you cover before you heard it? They recommend 30k miles then change fluid, if you’re like me you could have doubled that 😂 you’re not an isolated case if you exceeded that.

I have a 2024 Ioniq 5 and am waiting for the delivery of a 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance. Tesla and Hyundai (and Kia) are leading the way in the electric vehicle era. Personally, I hope that under the leadership of these two companies, manufacturers from countries like Germany, Japan, and China will rapidly develop, enabling more people to purchase electric vehicles at prices comparable to conventional internal combustion vehicles. While driving an electric vehicle certainly saves on fuel costs, the high price of the car and increased insurance premiums offset the savings from fuel.
@PlanetautoUK6 ай бұрын
Oh very nice, we have a Y or a 3 coming in a week or so, first Tesla review since the S P100D a fair few years ago. It’s amazing how fast it’s evolving, yes it’s disappointing that the government etc decided not to continue to support the ev role out, electric prices etc. They make a lot of sense with a type 2, otherwise it’s harder and harder to justify, sadly. Thank you Hwang and keep us posted on your adventures.

£42k isn’t a lot any more, a super mini petrol is £18k upwards, and a small EV well… and it’s worth the money.

Sorry it is a lot of money for a car, that's all it is a car, no wonder manufacturers have started charging ridiculous prices when people comment it is good value or whatever.
@PlanetautoUK6 ай бұрын
Cars like food, electric etc are getting exponentially more expensive, plus ev tech is at a premium anyway, prices are competitive.
@RichardNelson-h4b6 ай бұрын
Yet people had the chance to get on the EV ladder and buy cheaper, but no The EU are slapping big tariffs around because China did a better job than the west, which is a joke when Western manufacturers are building cars in China, Why because it is cheaper to do so and then ship them to the west with a big mark up. It is all about the money 💰
