Not a mention of its incredible efficiency. This car simply sips electrons.

One of the better reviews I've seen for this car. Straight to the point about the down sides - the slow charging speed which others get woo'd by the extended range over the 28kw version - the front grill - the suspension and ride quality - the rear view being obstructed - the middle back seat still having the bump at the feet. All things that other reviewers barely touched on. I do think the grill doesnt look as bad on the white / blue versions. On the grey colour reviewed here, it stands out.

Thank you Kon. We set out to try and bring back honest car reviews that don't just pay lip service to manufacturers so that we get invited to the next launch. We wanted to make sure our channel delivered true and just verdicts to our audience on the cars that we test, and give a fair and balanced result that people can trust if they are researching for their next car. EVs are a fast-growing market, and there is now a huge range of choice in the market, so anything that fails to deliver shouldn't be accepted just because it is electric. That being said, there is a lot to recommend the Ioniq, but for our money, there are better cars out there to choose, some at much lower prices.

A dour review and did great job of noting there were NO direct competitors. Smaller cars, SUVs are not direct competitors whether cheaper or more expensive. Size wise comparable to Leaf, cheaper and as good a range in 38kw spec. Standard spec better priced, one I’m going for.

So many of the reviews are like this, basically driven by opinions on mini SUV's being somehow a better choice, when that's a very objective view and not in any way factual. The low range Kona is still more expensive, yet less practical and generally will get a very similar range, especially if driven at 70 because it's that much more inefficient. Even things like the ID.3 are a fair bit smaller - 200L less with the seats down, that space has some impact on rear space! Also charge speed really should be looked at as miles or Km per minute, because this car gains as much range per minute at 42Kw charging as the Kona does charging at 60, and that's not obvious when only stating Kw charge speeds.

@@csp6 sure, we have driven the first Ioniq for 2 years and wanted more range and sought the best range to lease cost, the 64kw KonaE is approx 55% the lease cost of the Ioniq 5 and £100pcm cheaper than even ID3, so approached purely as utility - KonaE 64kw still the most affordable option imo of you want 250+ mile range. Imagine if they put the bigger battery in the slippery shell of the base Ioniq 🤷‍♂️

can you please please please help answer me a question ive asked a lot on youtube and no one answers and when I have searched videos and it shows the phone app for this car it shows AC for remote AC but they never mention it or use it lol so basically I was wondering with the phone app can you turn on the heating OR air con without being int he car using the app, lets say its summer and im at work and want to use the app to turn on the AC so its cool when I get in the car or winter and I want it warm and to de-ice the car without me having to get in? if so can this all be done with the car not on charge or is this one of those cars where it needs to be on charge

@marklola12 I'm afraid I dont know the answer to this. When we had the car, we didn't use the app. Have you tried on the SpeakEV forums? Good source of information on there. Also, see if there is a Facebook group for the Ioniq. That can be helpful too. Sorry we can't help.

Bjørn Nyland has used the Blue Link app in one of his videos to preheat the car, although you can set your temperature you can’t see what the actual temp is via the app yet.

For anyone wanting to start with a ev this is cheap on lease, 24 month with maintenance included it is only £239 a month for the premium though that is 5k miles it goes up to £260 for 8k still good price for me I can not and will not get a EV till insurance prices come down to match petrol and diesel cars as for me ANY EV the insurance is £100 to £120 a month...I will never pay that specially when a petrol or diesel is £50 a month for me, my current 2.2 diesel included

For goodness sake please don't pug hybrids we need to get all fossil burning off the road. I have had my 28 klw for 18 months and it is a much better car than this review implies. After a day if owning you no longer notice the split rear window and the other thing is the car is equipped with smart cruise control. Mine sits on that 90% if the time even in town and makes it a safe and enjoyable car to drive

We do appreciate that, however there are other EVs available at less money too, some of which are, in our opinion, better than the Ioniq. We also cover pre-owned EVs, with a BMW i3 Buyers Guide being available, and we will also be featuring the Renault Zoe and Nissan Leaf in this series. Take a look at autoev.co.uk at our used car locator for more used EVs, or take a look at our MG ZS review, one of the best EVs available at this price.

How can you make a video about a £30k+ EV and not talk about the Tesla Model 3 as a competitor?
@danieldarcy7862
@danieldarcy7862 4 жыл бұрын
Simple. Here are current UK figures for a two year lease at 10000 miles per year. Ioniq Premium SE £323 per month. Tesla Model 3 Standard Plus £585 per month. Almost double!!!! Much as I would like a Tesla the Ioniq is a bargain by comparison and that is what I am going for. This is because the crazy UK government hands out a £3500 for all new EVs and then takes it back with a luxury car tax if the list price (not the price paid, note) is greater than £40000.

Ioniq it’s not a 30k car, it’s a 20ish car is basic spec.. Tesla 3 with options is definitely not a 30k car..

@@danieldarcy7862 Even cheaper for me ive gotten an Ioniq Premium SE for £270 per month on a 2 year lease A model 3 would be over £500 per month ... too expensive for an "Affordable" electric car is decimates any potential savings compared with a cheaper ICE

We know the car doesn't need a "grille" but why did they feel the need to put this atrocity on the car, when the hybrid variants have a nicer front end? It would have been better if they had just fitted the grille from those in our opinion.

It's not always about the look, please do your research, it's one of the most efficient EVs in the market, that ugly grille helps with the aerodynamics of this car.

We hope to be featuring the Leaf very soon. We are dictated by the availability of press cars, but we hope to have the Leaf soon. I'll put the pronunciation down to being a Scot! But we stand by the fact that cars with haptic feedback are much better when driving.
