Have had the Highlander 4WD diesel since Feb and 3,000kms. Really liking it. The ride is on the firmer side of cushy. Stereo is really good. The lane keep assist tech works well. Getting 8.7L/100kms. Overall it still feels special when you get it. The light beige interior is welcoming and feels a bit posh. We are a family of six and it works perfectly for this format. Especially if you want to road trip to the snow and up the coast in summer.

@@Tahakamee good low down and mid range power. Enough for comfortable overtaking on the highway up to 160km/h. I have driven it down to the snowys 8 times, so 8,000kms, and it eats it up. Low range torque is good for getting off the line for city driving. A 3.0L euro or 3.0L Genesis diesel will be quicker, but they cost a lot more buying new. My average lifetime fuel consumption at 15,000kms is now 8.4L/100kms. Comprising of 8,000kms highway and 7,000kms city driving. I am happy with this considering we are a family of 6 people and their junk.

Indeed - Mazda quote to the roof in the boot and it’s not flat with lots of curves. The 704l here is to top of seats so potentially 950l Plus to the roof Packaging is so Much better vs Mazda I tried fitting in my gear for a golf trip And the big pali had it done and room for more The cx9 on the other hand was a scramble and some stuff just doesn’t fit

The CX9 is utter pox compared to the Palisade. The Palisade trumps the Mazda in every way. We have an Elite Diesel and it’s absolutely awesome, we never even bothered looking at the Mazda, overpriced and ugly as far as I’m concerned.

We bought Palisade highlander a month back after a lot if test driving.CX9 was our earlier choice but after driving the highlander, it was a no brainer😅. Absolutely love it taking to on long drives.

Plus the 7 seater has heated and ventilated making all 4 seats in front 2 rows just as good as each other, perfect for long road trips 👌

We bought one, so far so good, its very comfortable, we will often arrive home and sit in it for another 10 minutes in complete comfort. For us while driving it feels much smaller than it actually is until you clip the curb and realise its the longest and widest car on the road ✌️

Just looked at that at the Utah Auto Show. I like the Palisade. Reasons: better interior aesthetics and comfort, more room. Pathfinder feels a bit cramped in the back, especially in the 3rd row.

Answering your question... I know its about 1 year late.... Got a 2014 Mazda 6, since 2018, with white/beige Leather seats. The driver seat is getting a bit worn, but, the rest are in good shape. Easy to clean with damp cloth. I got 3 kids 15, 12 and 2. Thinking of buying the Santa Fe or Palisade. That is why I am here. Thank you for testing the big bottle.

Lol, there actually is timber in the cabin, and besides if you don't like the timber you would be able to take the car to a detailer where the woodgrain can be changed. Cheap plastic looking timber (hint hint, Toyota) dates a car, not real timber as it looks classy, authentic and premium unlike cheap nasty looking plastic looks ugly and very cheap and plasticy.

Great review Paul...I am a fan. I wish you would have spent a minute or so talking about the auto shifter, selecting gears, putting into park, reverse etc.... I have not seen this type of auto shift selector before.

I actually don't entirely agree with your commentary at 14:11. Most 7/8-seaters barely have room for 2 backpacks with the third row up. The fact you actually get a full size suitcase in says a lot.

Just ordered a moonlight cloud beige highlander in 7 seat format. This car has very few limitations for my lifestyle - I don’t tow or go bush ever. I don’t pay for fuel ever so the v6 works a treat. It’s so plush and comfy and space to burn

I have a Stinger Nigh Sky Edition and yes the driver seat greys up very quickly over time. I found using my Steam mop with hand held micro fibre cleans it well then use a decent leather conditioner to maintain the napper

I have a family with 2 boys and have a light beige leather interior on seats + dash + doors and I wouldn't go back to a black interior again. I just love how good it looks on the inside being bright and airy. I even got rubber floor mats from Supercheap Auto which are light beige (though not exactly matching) so you can see everything inside. I do regularly wipe down the seats and door handles plus regularly scrub the mats. I'm very tidy even around the house so I clean my car every week, a fortnight at the most, and it's really easy to keep the light colour looking good since the leather doesn't look worn out as black leather would after 3 years.

My nearly new Sorento with the 2.2 diesel with Adblue and wet 8 DCT has averaged over 39mpg Imperial 33 US mpg on similar roads that you tested this one, but with far more traffic and steep hills to climb. Best I get is around 42mpg. That's over the last 600 miles of mainly fairly short journeys.

It’s interesting to see the differences in the models that the car companies make for different countries. I live in the US and rims are different on the top trim line. My remote is different. (Has remote start.) I noticed there was a Diesel engine option, which we can’t get here. I won’t mention that the steering wheel is on the wrong side. 😂 I also noticed my rear view mirror is different. (It has a Homelink system for garage door openers.) Anyway, nice review! (I own a Limit Edition Palisade in Hyper White.)

@@CarExpertAus Just the 3.8L V6. I might have misheard what you said about color options, but in the US, the only color you pay extra for is white. Here it’s called Hyper White and it’s quite nice with a red/blue pearl that sparkles in the sun.

White interior is not that bad Paul... 🤩 Had a G30 BMW with white interior... Okay, it requires regular touch-ups, quick wipe overs, as dirt is obviously visible on them, but black is also getting dirty, just not that visible. 😁 I think it’s totally liveable for a family! 😊

Great review Paul. This costs $114,990 NZD plus ORC here in NZ so your prices are cheap. This is due to the distribution model of Hyundai not having a direct presence here. Even the Santa Fe top model which is called limited is $89,990 plus ORC

You can adjust the CarPlay display. I just bought a 2021 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy and I was able to change the Apple CarPlay to take the full screen by removing the setting for split screen.

Hi 🙋🏼‍♂️, I think you’ll find that the woodgrain is actually multiple layers of wood glued together and then cut across / through the layers which then reveals those ‘“lines”, we have a similar finish in one of our cars (a late model MINI) , agree with your comment re maybe having continued the timber look down the transmission tunnel .... great review 😉👍thank you

Ah Paul, Hungry Jacks want their “WHOPPER”grill back ASAP!🤣 I have a black 2006 VW Beetle convertible with beige leather interior. Hasn’t been a real issue. Just keep it clean with an occasional wipe over with a damp cloth maybe a couple of times a year. Then leather treatment once a year. Only problem was when wearing brand new denim jeans! Yep, slight dye “run”! 🤬

Yup for some reason any upgraded larger screen miss out but entry model i30s etc with the smaller screen have wireless 😑 Got a kona nline and it has started to bug me dont think id buy another car that doesnt have wireless unless just going for used on a budget

Not white but I've had light cream, light beige, grey and several black interiors. The black is the most difficult to keep clean and shows up all dust and any dried mud and dirt. Think of piano black or black painted cars and you get the idea. The only issue with light trim is to ensure that no used oil or grease is transferred to it, especially used diesel engine oil. Otherwise it is fine as long as you wipe with a damp cloth now and again. If you just do that with black trim and seats, it leaves streaks. Forget white or very pale cream steering wheels though, because they do get grubby and dirty looking too easily.

Cx9 is just longer but palisade is wider and taller.its bulkiness/boxy makes it looks bigger when parked next to Cx9.

Not really beige but kinda light coloured. Kia Sportage 2016. The part where its touching our elbows are turning green. It is impossible to keep clean. Looks nice when new, regretting our purchase now. :(

Awesome looking car. For a change we have a powerful & great looking car with beautiful interior. Unlike the usual black on black panzy looking cars. Amazing interior. I test drove it. Can’t wait to get one. The only unfortunate thing is that it’s not a real off roader 4x4 like land cruiser. But 10 times nicer than land cruiser.

We get the old model. There's a facelift that's been out overseas for some time. They must be dumping old stock here or something. You can tell with the front grill which has slightly different styling.

We put our order in for a Sorento rather than one of these, but mainly because we couldn't afford the Palisade. I think both look great but like the Palisade more: it is a very handsome vehicle, particularly with the burgundy interior. I can't help but wonder if it will steal sales from the Santa Fe. A while ago we had a car with beige leather interior and it very quickly picked-up the dye from my jeans. I think I used Auto Glym Leather and Vinyl cleaner, and then put sheepskin seats on the front two seats because the leather was just too hot. Thankfully, both Sorento and Palisade (and SF) have cooled seats. Palisade is a little dearer than an equivalent Mazda CX-8, but there is no way I'd go past the Hyundai if I had the funds.

Looks good interior and outdoor design but engine and transmission is old fashion same like Santa Fe and Kia Sorrento fuel economy worse that offical amount and matter is suspensions aren’t right design to fit that size especially 3rd seat feel terrible due to Hyundai try to save money…. I would choose Cx9 or Kluger

I would like for him to take another look at the tail lights. He says the trim to the inside is sort of a brushed chrome look well those actually light up with red undertone lights or it could be just in the USA.

Can you please say honestly how Hyundai Palisade v6 gdi engine is? Is this very good quality v6 engine? Will this engine run 500k to 600k km? I want to know because I have a confusion to choose from Hyundai Palisade V6, Volkswagen Atlas sel V6, and Honda Pilot Elite V6, please give me the right information because I want to choose a V6 car which will run perfectly 500k to 600k km without any big issues..
