Please develop a method to disable the automatic door unlocking feature in the 2020 Hyundai Accent SE. I bought my new car in July, 2020 and have been unable to defeat the system. The dealership was unable to disable it. Hyundai’s technical support line also couldn’t come up with a way. Not only that, the procedure shown in the owner’s manual applies to the SEL and Limited models, not to the base SE model like mine. When I took the one-year owner satisfaction survey I mentioned the automatic unlocking system as a much disliked feature. Not only that, I saw a similar comment from another Accent SE owner, so I’m not the only one who is concerned. Having a vehicle automatically unlocking its doors when parking in certain neighborhoods and towns can be dangerous, if not outright fatal. On my other car (2009 Honda Fit base model) it’s simple to defeat the automatic unlocking feature: 1. Make sure the shift lever is in the Park (P) position (A/T vehicles). 2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position, and open the driver’s door. 3. Push and hold the rear of the master door lock switch on the driver’s door. You will hear a click, and after about 5 seconds, you will hear another click. 4. Release the switch, and within 5 seconds, turn the ignition switch to the Lock (0) position. That’s all it takes to complete the procedure in the Honda. I really hope Hyundai can devise a simple way to keep everyone safe as well. Thank you very much.

When I am inside the car, put the car park and turn off the engine, what is the setting which unlocks all the doors so that when I get out of the car, the back door is already unlocked. Right now in my 2024 Kona, I have re open the driver door, hit the unlock button in the door to unlock the passenger back door.

Wish I knew the answer to this problem. I am looking for the same solution. I thought I had child lock on but I don't and I can only unlock them by using the door handle or key.

This is all fine, but I just want to lock the car without having fob or phone in my possession (surfer). Every other car I've seen I can just hit the lock button on the door when it's open, then hold the handle out when I shut the door. Boom, everything is locked and I'm good. My Hyundai Tucson 2025 doesn't lock the doors when you hit the button and the door is open. Any suggestions welcome.

why is such a simple action that hard? Hyundia must simplfy this immediately. I always end up checking all the doors every time I leave the car.

@@chefboyder9322 its called lock confirmation and on my Kia, you press the lock button once to lock with no sound and twice for horn confirmation. If you live in a neighborhood where kids are checking your doors every night to see what they can steal, you like to be sure they're locked. Kia provides the best of both worlds where ironically, Hyundai does not.

I want to disable auto lock altogether. Door panel comin off this weekend. Never again will it lock with faub inside. I have blue link but thats besides the point. The car doesnt decide when i want it locked or unlocked period.

How do I turn of child safety locks? Only way I can open the back door is from the outside

There is usually a manual switch on the door it self on most vehicles that you have to physically switch to turn child locks on and off

What I really want to know is why Hyundai allows passengers to open the doors while I'm DRIVING. I can be driving down the interstate and my passengers can easily open the doors, even if they are locked. This is far from safe and very careless.

There's a child safety lock on my driver side Sante Fe door that I can set to prevent this. Other cars have switches on the door jams. However, do this and you lock your occupants in until you let them out.
