Hey Chase, while the bike's front end is apart, check to see if the forks are twisted. suspend the front end and lay apiece of glass across the lower fork tubes. if the glass lays flat, its close enough. If not, you may have to loosen the triples and align them. Nice work learning all this stuff buddy! :D

Chase, thank god for that safety pinch keeping the front sprocket nut for coming off. I actually had a 2002 r6 and that nut did come off while riding on the freeway and it smashed a hole in the engine case. I didn't crash even though all my oil came out and Yamaha had a recall on that part. They fixed my bike and I immediately sold it.
@SchecterGreen7 жыл бұрын
chase if you ever not have a right size allen key for bolts an in your case the bearings, if you have spare bolts find a hex bolt head that size an screw the nut on the bolt then you can just use a ring spanner. It can get you out of trouble

you want to cut a couple more links out of the chain because with wear it will stretch and only lengthen more, move the chain adjuster all the way in and then cut to length and adjust the slack to spec, also dremel off the head of chain rivets and then use the breaker to push the rivet through, itll be much easier and wont break the tool, be sure to mushroom the new master links rivet.

@onhawaii7 жыл бұрын
Chase... If you want to split or reconnect a chain you can pick a point to do that at the rear sprocket like at an angle at 2 o'clock. By doing that you have a more stable point to work at and the chain stays in position. It makes it way more easy. Please try that next time.

Awesome job dude, I't amazing how you are able to do all of this just by your strong will. That bike is getting so amazing after all the things that you have by now. I hope the following episodes will be smother than this because I understand how exhausting it could be. In addition, of course it all have been a huge learning process either for you as for all of us that are following you through this process. Best Regards

Trust your gut. This is your show. This is your idea... your aesthetics and logic. Do the fun stuff yourself--for yourself. Everyone pussies out when the banal and exhausting things need to be done. Nice episode. Please consider getting a powder coated black triple to match the bottom. I'd convert to clip-ons if i win anyways (so that derpy handle bar clamp that everyone was crying to make red vanishes ... I'll just say my vote is black.) Otherwise; tasteful mods Chase: get it done by August because you may need an OEM part from Italy ;) Need a test pilot? I trust it so far.

When in doubt, use some heat. Many of the bolts and screws are assembled with Loctite screw lock to prevent them vibrating loose. Screw lock softens with application of heat. So use a hot air gun or a small butane blowlamp. Do not use a hammer on a stiff fitting. Remember the fittings were not put on originally with a great big hammer ! Heat is the first “go to” for stuck fittings every time.

You know what I want to see? I want to see a supersport bike that's been modified to have a cumfy seat, forward controls, pull back handlebars, and a raked out head or at least raked triple tree (with extended forks to compensate for the extra rake of course). I just want to see what it looks like to make a sport bike that rides like a cruiser... I kind of have one, actually, but it's an antique, it's a naked sport, and it left the factory that way. It's an '82 Kawasaki LTD and it looks pretty natural. But it's also an older design from back when there weren't any significant style differences between sport and cruiser bikes, just engine differences. Doing it with a modern super sport should look interesting, though. Should probably be done naked just because the fairings would be in the way of the forward controls.

Hey Chase, I just wanted to give you a tip before the bike leaves you. I assume you want everything to be shiny before it goes to its new home. My tip is to use 'Harpic Power 10 Bleach' and buff it into the exhaust link pipe and down pipe. It will honestly make the pipe look shiny silver. I am unsure if you have this specific bleach in America since I am from the UK. It might be a good idea to experiment around. I hope you see this! :)))
