I totally understand the allure of wanting to be famous overnight! So many benefits and doors could be opened! But as someone who watches reality tv, I would never do it! They really do edit people to look a certain way, which can be so damaging to your brand. Not to mention if you end up being portrayed as the “villain” you could have tons of hateful comments and stuff. I’d be so scared of that.
@CreatingwithKaya9 ай бұрын
Yesss the villain part is REAL.. some of the advice I got was that the villains are usually the most memorable, and the people that are mild and coast aren’t interesting enough to stay on or be remembered.

You are lovely. I think you made the right decision. I almost left after halfway through your video but decided to stay and listen to the rest of it but just in the short 22 min, you seem so professional and classy, I would never want you to get a bad “edit” to tarnish you! Also I learned a new word. Ty and much love

I just discovered you yesterday and starting to watch your videos…I’m glad you decided to walk away. It sounds like you have worked hard building your brand and reality tv in my opinion has a way of tearing people down. It said a lot about you as a person and I can respect that. Keep striving for the best person you can be.👍🏽👍🏽

Thank you so so much for the kind words! This is exactly what I was feeling, I’m so glad I didn’t go for it in the end, and glad to be building things up slowly but surely, connecting with the right people as I go 🫶🏽💜

Aw Kaya, this is so interesting! It sounds like you made the right choice for you. I’ve done a teeny tiny bit of TV and it was honestly the most exhausting work I’ve done 😅 well done for trusting yourself!
@CreatingwithKaya9 ай бұрын
Thank you Nikki! I’m really at peace now with it all-maybe too because nothing has aired, maybe I’d feel differently if I was watching it all happen right now and seeing other people have such great experiences. I don’t do well with fomo. 😂 And pheww I can definitely imagine the exhaustion, I’ve been dabbling in commercials this year, and they poop me out every time.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Super interesting to hear this perspective. Pablo says: “you made the right choice, it’s important you have principles and that you follow those principles” 😊 I definitely relate to the sentiment at the end about mourning the missed opportunity (even when it’s not an opportunity you wanted)… I’ve definitely been there 😅

Ahh thank you Danielle (and Pablo!! Always love his feedback)! And seriously! It’s so annoying when our brains do that, it’s like you know this wasn’t good for you, why are you hung up about it? ☹️🫠

I could *maybe* be convinced...for the sake of our friendship. I just get so annoyed by it -- it's a visceral response.😂

Really glad I found this video by seeing your community post! So interesting, I've always wanted to be on project runway and so I thought a lot about the pros and cons of reality show appearances. Super helpful!

I’m glad that post brought you over!! I’m finding that’s the only way some people see my content 🫠 ooh project runway would be cool-but yesss I would be so worried about how they would portray you-you just never know!

“I don’t watch much reality TV” you’re my people 😍 Thank you so much for sharing your experience. This was such an insightful video 👌🏾 I recently had producers of a different reality TV show reach out to me and it’s like your video was made for me. You answered questions I hadn’t even thought to ask myself yet 🥺 thank you. I read a tweet by xoReni earlier this week talking about how you can make a decision and still experience grief, but it doesn’t mean your decision was wrong. Maybe that’s what you were experiencing. Considering all the terms you shared would have been part of the contract, I think you made the right decision not signing, even if it would have ended up showing 🩵
@CreatingwithKaya9 ай бұрын
hahaha I'm glad to have found someone who gets it. I'm always so out of the loop with reality tv discourse. 😂🫣 Oh and how crazy-timed is that!! Actually now that you've mentioned it, I have actually been reached out to by other casting directors for shows that people are a little bit more familiar with. But especially after this, I've never given ANY of them a second thought. 😅 I'm glad this video was helpful and that it covered some questions for you!! I also think you nailed it on the deciding something but still experiencing grief--thank you SO much for watching, and for the heart-felt comment!!

Good for you! In the entertainment world, producers want to create a story to keep audiences engaged. Happened to me with The Voice for season 3. I saw how they were telling contestants one thing but restricting them from promoting their own music while on the show. At least they were paying the contestants weekly. Protect your image yes!
@CreatingwithKaya9 ай бұрын
Thank you!! And oh my goodness that sounds like such a tough situation on the Voice--didn't realize there was payment though, that's definitely a plus!!

I am definitely friends number two. I've watched enough reality tv to see how they can make ppl to be the villian. In my head I'm thinking; how many years did it take for you build your platform. It only takes one reality show that can really put a name on you that doesn't fit your brand. You call the shots. While yes it is cool I don't think it worth it ...
@CreatingwithKaya9 ай бұрын
Yesss---thank you for sharing this! I really am glad I didn't do it, I would have been beside myself if they had done anything to mess with *my brand* after ALL THIS TIME.

I watched a show similar to this on Netflix called Social Currency. You probably haven’t seen it since it’s reality tv, but it was interesting. Side note: I would have been on team do it. Maybe. 😂

Oh, I have never heard of it… But I will definitely be googling! Haha and there’s nothing wrong with being team do it I think… I don’t necessarily think it would’ve been horrible experience 👀😂
