*sigh* I think I'm realizing that it's the brutal (and often contagious) honesty that Ant exudes that really made the O and A show so great. Opie appears to try far too hard to get noticed or appreciated, trading in those brutally honest opinions and outspoken thoughts that Ant and Jim brought to the show for a more contrived attempt to entertain by deliberately attempting to be edgy, disgusting, and/or "outrageous". The most honest he comes off as a personality, as oppose to the character he puts on, is when he's talking about growing up or being in college: two topics which inevitably bore the hell out of me personally (I don't know about anyone else). I keep holding on to the show, though, listening out of habit and hope that it will get better (mostly habit), but, frankly, it hasn't been. Jimmy's great, but with Opie now being so prevalent in the episodes (used to, he'd sort of disappear and be forgotten for long stretches while Ant and Jim got going on something), stepping on jokes, bringing the tone down, not being able to keep up with the comics, and oh so often bringing the conversation down to a lull with his awful, humdrum stories and contrived bits, there seems to be little hope for redemption. Tis depressing.

The 'adpocalypse' that happened about 5 years ago put a nail in this particular coffin because there's no way Ant would even get monetised, but the answer was always no. For people with any alternative at all, KZbin is no longer a desirable option - growing a channel is extremely difficult and you have to be kid friendly to make any money. Even back when edgier channels were still getting ad revenue, you needed a ton of views to even make a halfway decent living (without additional sponsorship, this channel would barely equate to a minimum wage job).

I'm sad about Ants situation with the Patrice benefit. I'm the biggest fan of Burr, through him I was introduced to the O&A show, and the legendary comedians of the Comedy Cellar, and to the late great Patrice also. I gotta say though, the one thing about Patrice was that not only was he a loyal guy, he loved and respected Anthony a lot, in fact I am convinced when Ant got fired, Patrice would be one of the first guys to stick by him. Also if he was alive, how many of us would freak out to see the Ant and Patrice show.... That would have been fucking amazing!!
