Hi Luke. I live in a large Victorian terraced house and we have a log burner in the living room. It’s a game changer let me tell you. When we have it on we open all the internal doors and it heats the whole house. We never have the central heating on in the evening because the log burner is enough and you burn a lot less logs than an open fire too. Highly recommended. X

So glad you are getting light treatment. It is a game changer for me and provides months of relief. As you say, it is a commitment attending 3 times a week and there is the pre and post skin preparation takes time. It is worth it though and hopefully sets you up for the summer. Good luck x

It's a horrible virus but you are doing the right thing to improve your gut health. Give yourself time to recover. The little cosy corners are lovely - I have one in my kitchen too. Perhaps you need one of the electric heated throws to keep you warmer until you get your chimney sorted? They aren't expensive to run. There is nothing worse than being cold in your own home, whether you are young and fit, or older and more sedentary.😘x

@@LukeCatleugh My husband whinged on about getting a heated over blanket ,”I’ll look like an old woman he said…” fast forward a week..and he’s wrapped up on the sofa “ like an old woman “ 😂 Best things we’ve ever bought ..saves putting heating on and I sit on mine and wrap it around my legs..Bliss ( I bought ours from Ebay 89.00 for two Dreamland ) We live in Upper Teesdale and it’s brassic up here still loads of snow on the ground ( frozen and not wanting to shift ) Our open fire is wonderful and wouldn’t be without it… but a log burner is cleaner and probably more efficient , it could heat all your downstairs .. worth thinking about…🤷‍♀️

I LOVE my heated blanket! My tip would be don’t get a really cheap one because you’ll really feel the heated wires. I bought a Dreamland (around £50 I think) and it’s so cosy! Cheap to run too!

I think you may find your skin condition is not improved by the amount of sugar you crave. I was watching a channel 4 programme last week, the presenter is a biochemistry I believe, she helped a young woman with a very bad skin. The improvement was amazing when she cut the sugar and processed food. See if you can find the programme on catch up if you haven't seen it. The most interesting tip I learnt was dress your carbs !

When you're in New York don't rush around trying to see too much and not giving anything the time it deserves. I spent 4 days in New York in the summer months and didn't get to see a lot of what we planned as time does fly. A work colleague of mine went to New York in January a few years ago and said it was so cold it went down to the bone, so plenty of thermals and lots of layers. Have a lovely time.

We did New York in December 2022 and it was amazing. All the pictures we took we made into a photo book which I highly recommend. We bought entrance tickets in advance on Groupon which saved a fortune. 7 attraction entrances for 2 people cost £263.00 and included Top of the Rock, Empire State etc. I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time x

I bought some suitcases many years ago which lasted pretty well but eventually must’ve gone brittle. One arrived in Auckland with a huge crack in it and only the lining holding everything in. They replaced it free of charge with another one of a similar size. A couple of years later the smaller one arrived on the carousel in bits and held together with tape. Again they replaced it with no hassle and the replacement one has since been replaced after that was damaged in transit,still at no cost.

My last home was an old grade 2 listed cottage that had been converted inside into open plan. It looked fabulous, like New York loft living but in the UK. Watching this vlog reminded me of just how blooming cold it was in winter. I couldn't heat it for love nor money. I loved living there but since I moved I am always appreciative of how cosy my new place is. And as a bonus I love living here as much as I loved living there. Seeing Zara wandering around wrapped in a blanket took me right back 😂 me and my dog used to huddle together under a blanket for warmth. I'm glad we moved before the energy prices rocketed! I'm so glad you are both feelin much better. I really like your new table and I noticed that you had a diffuser on it. Just be careful that you don't get any of the liquid on the table as it will take the varnish off straight away, I learned this to my cost, and now don't put diffusers on anything precious. Hi Luke, glad you mentioned walking the Highline when you are in New York, as you can see so much of the surrounding area. Another interesting place of is the Tenement Museums at the bottom end of Manhattan. Best to book online. It is a series of rooms in houses featuring the state of the housing when the first immigrants arrived in New York going back through time. You can get tours and I found it very interesting on how families lived in one room and started a business such as sewing etc with few possessions. The decor and furnishings are in keeping with the various periods and financial status, mostly very poor. Ellis Island was interesting, and Statue of Liberty from Staten Island Ferry for free rather than river tour. There is an ice rink at the bottom of the Rockefeller building in winter. I went in summer and we had dinner at a table next to the statue. The usual Central Park on a weekend, and the nearby Dakota building where John Lennon was assassinated., Guggenheim Museum. By the way you can get USB charged hand warmers and foot sole pads eg from Amazon. You will have a great time. Enjoy yourselves.

Glad you a feeling better - Norovirus is not fun at all. I love porridge too. I gave up eating breakfast a few years ago so l often have a bowl for dinner as l couldn't go through life porridge-less! I did the same thing when visiting New York last year, google maps, separate days for a neighborhood, yes, top of the rock the best views. Highline is very cool, then you’re near Chelsea for the market, great for food. Bleaker street, I had to queue up for the viral crumbl cookies for a friend.🤭. Brooklyn bridge, the walk back over to manhattan is beautiful. Bet you’re visiting dumbo in Brooklyn, we couldn’t squeeze that in, next time! Have a fabulous time. Comfy shoes! 🤓x

Heated blankets is a must and saves on using the heater. It’s the love your mam puts into the porridge and cooking in general. My son, his wife and my grands refer to my cooking as Momma/Nana meals. Or they’ll ask me to cook a momma meal… You’re not boring, it’s good when you share what works for you and Zara. That table is fabulous Nd score on the table. It is perfect in that space and love the color of the wood. The lamp is great in it the small tables are cool and lighting is so important. A lot of stylists say small tables next to chairs are a must so folks have a place to set their drinks down. Good job guys. Love Stanley Tucci, the books look great for a good read. Praying you’re both in good health. Your trip will be the best, and you’ll need good warm clothing. Plus they are great to store off season items if needed. Thank you for thinking about the fires in Southern California. It is tragic and so many folks lost everything except what they were wearing. I’m in Northern California so ok here. A lot of helping hand have been n lending time to help. My heart is saddened by loss of life and property. Even bundled up Zara, you’re still cute. Good job on preparing ahead where you want to be in New York. That is a lot to do in a week, you’ve got youth behind you both. Good job you guys. I am so excited for you. My aunt lived in America and used to send us parcels with different things including a Barbie for me. It was when you couldn't really get them here. She sent us teabags with a string and we had never seen them before. I didn't like tea but I really wanted to try one. My son who will be 44 this year went to New York about 3 years ago and stayed in a hostel which suited him as he made friends with some of the people staying there and would go out with them in the evening but he could do what he wanted during the day. He did the same in Dubrovnik and he had a great time without paying a lot. Hope you both have a fantastic time and get all you want done. Xx❤

I cannot believe it! Something I do to keep warm inside when I feel especially cold, is to full up small water bottles and heat them in the microwave. I carry those around in my pockets or if I'm sitting, I can tuck them at my hips.

A multi burner is a good option. The problem with a traditional open fire is that most of the heat gets lost up the chimney but doesn't radiate into the room.

It's been almost minus 20 here in Ontario. Our winters get that cold sometimes. My face broke out like yours from stress and I went to a specialist. I was told not to use any products at all on my face and use only an all natural soap. I did this for a few months and it worked. Now I only use hyper allergenic products .I can't use any bath gels either - just natural soap. My skin has never broke out since.

I am so happy you guys are feeling better! Zara, you poor frozen thing, you need wool. Wear wool socks and a wool sweater. Wool will keep you warm, unlike acrylic or polyester. You will thaw out nicely! I hope you both have a great time in New York.

If you pre-soak oats in the fridge over night, not only a you use the “Oat milk” the cook up and taste so much better! Try it

I have skin problems too. My Rosacea gets redder in the winter and more noticeable. Glad you're back on the waiting list. I have an electric heated throw from lakeland. reccomend!
