Beautiful TED talk. I find that the lived process of making a film, the frustration, despair and ecstasy cannot be distilled from the work but inform it and future works in countless ways. As the speaker points out, art is so much more than a piece of work, it is a lived experience that creates discussion, powerfully brings people together and because of this, informs our culture. In all the work I have produced, the thing that has been most formative and long lasting has been the emotional connections made before, during and after the production.
