I am the type of person who has a clean, organised and decluttered home. I only keep things that I need and use and only replace them when they get old, damaged or I run out of them. But that's what works for me and my mental health. I totally respect people who have different lifestyles and preferences. The way I have managed to keep my house and my life simple and clutter free is by watching your videos throughout the years and getting motivated to maintain things. Without you I wouldn't have had the determination needed to accomplish it. Thank you for being you and for keeping things real.

This is why I like watching your videos so much. Between 2020 and 2022, I felt very overwhelmed with work, a death in the family, a subsequent lawsuit, and non-pandemic health issues of several family members. So, for most of 2023 I let my housekeeping and exercise slide. About 3 months ago, I finally felt able to resume my normal routines. Thank you for showing life as it really is.

In all honesty, I think the reason many of us become minimalist is because we got fed up feeling exactly how you feel. When I strive to be more minimalist, cleaning becomes so much quicker and easier. And yes while I do not like cleaning I also hate shopping just as much because all I see is consumerist clutter. This is not to judge anyone that is not a minimalist, it's just to say that most of us were feeling the same and that is why we have chosen to move in that direction.

Sophia I think I have the same personality as you do. How I store my make-up is in a lay-n-go cosmetic case from Amazon. It closes like a shower cap but lies flat while using. I simply open it flat, use the make-up, then cinch the tie at the end. Perfect for people who struggle to put things away.

I have a lot of the same struggles. I also like that you have various types of content and keep adding new things. I have watched your videos for a long time and can see how much you have decluttered your makeup and other things. I recently moved to a different state and had to get rid of a lot of stuff but still need to purge more and your videos over the years have helped make that process easier. We have been in our new home for about 5 months and I believe I have only cleaned the bathroom once a month. I am so overwhelmed with painting walls and small remodels that I don't have time to keep up with weekly cleaning. I do clean the kitchen daily or every other day. I retired last year and should have more done since I'm not working. However, my energy levels have dropped and I move a bit slower so it takes longer to get things done. Keep up the good work you are doing great!

As for people who are cruel: Sometimes those who are extremely judgemental also have things happen in their lives, that result in increased compassion for others. I love this video. I used to be very methodical tidying up when I was younger, and looking back, it was a waste of time for me. I’m 67 now and wiser. This is what works for me NOW! I never iron clothes (I smooth, fold and put away! ), each day I make the bed, do a quick dust if needed. I don’t fuss and worry to get things done, they get done in my own time. I too like skincare and makeup, but have paired down over the years. Lipstick is what I love! Well done Sophia. This video is honest and so helpful! Thank you!

In a morning, when you'e rushing to get ready to go out /to work / etc., you get all your stuff out and don't have time to put it back. I know exactly how these situations arise. I used to be the same with clothes- getting ready to go out, the room would be strewn with rejected try-ons. easy to pull out of the wardrobe, but hard to put back! I think you have come so far in so many aspects of your life, you are an inspiration. I enjoy your company in more or less anything you do (not so much the whispering) but thrifting, etsying, quilting, diying, sewing, sightseeing, furniture renovation. Sophia, I think you should treat yourself for Christmas and toss your old pallets and get you a few smaller ones from your favorite brands. Then you can have your most used colors in smaller options to actually enjoy instead of feeling so sad about needing to part with them or simply not using them. Just remember that you already spent the money on the older ones and don't seem to use them so no need to hang onto them. Maybe a "fresh" start is needed. Good job on what you got accomplished!

I think we also have different areas that are in and out of control. For me, an area is generally under control if it easy to put things back. Thoroughly decluttering is hard. It would help, but I find I hang on to things because I might or should use them. Great video! Thank you!

Sophia, You do NOT owe anyone an explanation for your home, your stuff, nor yourself. You are a wonderful caring person who makes a positive difference in the world. As a Social Worker, you help those in need without judgement. Your family and friends are greatly cared for. You have DIYed your beautiful home, increasing the value and charm, and encouraging others to try. AND you have your own business plus a KZbin channel. If you have a mess here and there, you are human. If you want 100 pallets then you enjoy them! I don't know anything about makeup so I don't suggest anything about it. I want to ask, can you purchase just your favorite colors and have smaller containers? When you build your new vanity, since most items are older, reward yourself to a fresh start with all new makeup, brushes, cleaners, and whatever else you use. Make it your Christmas and New Year gift!

I love your videos and I so wish that I could do more and you motivate me to do some of the things I need to do. I struggle with everyday life, because of a back injury years ago and chronic pain, it is so hard for me to do much of anything. So therefore my house gets neglected a lot even more so now that I am older. It is just my husband and I, retired, the kids are grown with kids of their own. We hardly ever have anyone come to visit. I do what I can do so it usually takes me 2-3 days to clean, sometimes longer but it's ok. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to your next video! ❤😘😊

Yep! Life ( aka our houses) gets messy sometimes. We live here! Me too! This is funny because my house was a wreck today because I’ve been doing other things like yard work and visiting my dad at nursing home because he wasn’t doing well. He is better now) etc. But I cleaned it up today I started at 7:39 and finished at 1:00 pm ( with many breaks) and I finished up the kitchen while watching you. It always gets cleaned up eventually.

I used to worry about having a perfectly clean and tidy home. But I’m a single mom of two teenaged boys, one of whom has ADHD and really struggles with neatness. I work full time as a preschool speech-language pathologist, AND I’m grieving the sudden loss of my mother almost a year ago. And I’m perimenopausal and very low on energy. I continually redo spaces too. I love many makeup choices. Recently I’ve culled my everyday look makeup into a small container, which lives in prime real estate. Rest is stored in cabinet. If I want to change out, I pull out my ‘stash’. Doing the same with the skin care.

You’ve got me thinking about my ideal vanity unit 🤔 I think it would have quite a few wide shallow drawers so all the items could be laid out in 1 layer. Oh and each drawer would tilt on opening to make it easier to see everything and grab what I wanted. No containers for me because out of sight is out of mind.

Sophia, I'm a makeup artist. Please get rid of your powder palettes after 3 years max - you want to avoid eye infections or bad reactions. Cream products only last 1-2 years. Mascaras 3 months.

have you ever thought of investing in a acrylic makeup storage. I dont love make up as much as you and I have one. I mention because I cant put my makeup in a drawer or basket and then have to dig through. But with the acrylic system, some are shallow drawers, some are deeper for foundation, perfume, some are for brushes, some are for lip sticks. Only way I found to keep my stuff like makeup organized. My face and skin products can keep in baskets. Thanks for sharing.

Sophia - I'm a fan of containers ... what I have found is small containers with drawers (vs. lids) work better because it's easier to get into and out of without messing with the lids or stacking. Just a thought ...

About a vanity..have you ever gone to the Goodwill or Salvation Army to look at second hand vanities..we just had about 10 put on our sites and some of them look like new and have multi drawers.They are a good price and way less than it would cost you to build with new materials.

Try acrylic divided holderr for lipsticks. Holds 10 or 12 in less space than bag and you can read bottom of tubes.
