I used to make a living repairing film consoles in the ‘90 in Canada. I have never heard or seen this board before. Maybe do a bit of background on the company that built it. It was wild in the 90’s with digital path as everyone had their own way of doing things. Cheers 👍

So cool! Thanks for sharing. Lawo has built quite the reputation for broadcast/film but might very well be more of an european thing? They started out doing analog consoles comparable to Neumann and Telefunken. Hope that helps! All the best, Tobi

Just came across your channel and started watching all your videos on the Lawo project. I’m really impressed! It kind of reminds me of something I did, back in the late 80’s. I bought an old beat-up Fairlight CMI system, that I believe was originally owned by the Swiss band “Yellow”. I completely disassembled it and repaired whatever was broken. I had so much fun doing this and learned so much about it, during the rebuild. P;ease continue doing these great video’s… ❤

Thank you so much! A Fairlight CMI wow these things are legendary! Do you still have it how did it work out? Thank you for your support and all the best, Tobi

@@tobitweaks No, I had the Fairlight for about 3 years before selling it and even made quite some money. ;-) It was really fun working on it. The Fairlight was the reason I later went to study IT, after finishing my electronics studies.

Amazing, I just watched all the videos in a row! One of the LED displays on the meter bridge looks like it's being overdriven, the one which says "Inp" underneath "Fader009", it's very bright and turning yellow. Maybe a bad resistor / potentiometer or something else in the current limiting circuit? Hopefully it hasn't failed yet, it doesn't look happy!
@tobitweaks

Wow thank you for following along closely! You are right, one of them is brighter than the others. I‘d actually love to dim the LED displays too, good Idea to start with this one to understand them :) All the best, Tobi

@@tobitweaks It would be great if the dimmer control dimmed the displays too, hopefully there’s a PWM signal somewhere you can tap into! 🤞🏻

If I didn't know better the card cabinets look like Private Business Exchange (PBX) for telephone switches.

He said it’s an ATM switch which sounds so 90s because in the 2000s it was more or less killed by Ethernet. But that would explain why it looks so telco like. ATM at the end of the day was mostly used in the telecom sector. On the other hand many network switches also for Ethernet look like this. But usually they are horizontal instead of vertical. Still I think some manufacturers used this layout.

Another brilliant update video...that light test!! Good luck with the fault-finding. I look forward to seeing / hearing a multitrack recording entering the console via madi. Enjoy the journey! Thanks for sharing.

Wow Tobi, this is fantastic to see running! Where did you get this? It is in great condition, looks like it came from Phillip. Are you near Rastatt?

if you really want quiet fans you need to buy Noctua fans. There are no better/quieter ones out there.
