Melter is better than Claw in act one if you assume you're not going to find a second one. Also, because of ascenders bane, unceasing top is much worse past ascension 10. Having said that I dont think NL thought his first two runs through. I dont knock it though, playing fast and going for elites and then just doing a bunch of runs until one sticks is a fun way to play slay the spire.
