@@jonc7371 I got the foam fell pros with the heaviest front coils and leaf packs for my 3rd gen and don’t run any weight besides tools in the bed. Truck rides awesome. It feels a bit over sprung in the front without any weight there, but honestly it still feels way more comfortable than other buddies’ Fox shocks. Plus I don’t run the sway bar anymore, and it helps keep the truck more planted with the stiffer spring weight in the front

I have the Fox performance elites front and back on my Tacoma and they’ve been phenomenal. Being able to find tune them with the DSC’s on the fly is great. I got them from Accutune off-road and they do their own tuning on the shocks when you buy them based on your driving style and added weight. I had a bilstein 6112/5160 setup before the Fox performance elites. I probably would say that the Foxs aren’t worth the extra ~5 grand but the performance is definitely massively better. Better compression and I bottom out about 90% less. I wish there was some rebound control as they can top out kind of hard, but not as bad as the bilsteins.

You guys are putting out excellent content - fun, informative, and entertaining. I've been saying for a while now, I much prefer side by side comparisons to help combat the bro science and old biases. The key whether it is tire pressure, type/size, suspension... and so on is to control for the variables so that the one thing you are trying to understand is isolated. It doesn't need to be painfully rigorous, just enough to show what a run at 10 psi vs. 15 vs. 20 or whatever does. I drive a full-size and jeep or taco guys will say I have to do X or Y or must never do Z... but they aren't accounting for the different load/vehicle or whatever.

I appreciate that the truck was stock level performance, but I really wish we would be more specific when we call something stock. Wheels and tires can have a huge impact of the performance of a vehicle. If you want to test stock, it's pretty critical that the wheels and tires represent that. It's fair to say that most customers will change those things before suspension, I totally agree, but that's just not stock anymore.

Interesting, I have the same setup, with Icon RXT leaves in the back. My thought was that the ride was much more controlled than stock, and softer overall. I typically run with 2-300 lbs in the box (winch and cradle, recovery gear of all sorts and 5 Imperial gallons of both water and gas with a hard cover). I set the fronts all the way up and put the extra leaf in the RXTs. Truck is a 2013 extra cab, TRD Off Road. I mostly do fire roads and crawling. What height did you set yours up at and what leaves to you have in the back? Which version of the truck? What sort of off roading do you normally do?

2.5" preload in the front, SPC a-arms, icon add a leaf rear with the overload spring installed. '07 prerunner. the 2.5" preload setting is just too much. I need to reduce tat and also remove the rear overload leaf spring. It's the truck I use to get my dirtbike to trailheads or spots in the desert. Small bumps are harsh but large hits are soft. The new shocks do an amazing job keeping the tires plants and in control, but the small hits are just too jaring.@@fantabuloussnuffaluffagus

What would you recommend for a 2023 jeep gladiator with RK 4 1/2 inch lift kit, (not coil overs) i’m looking for a good adjustable shock to take road trips out of state do lots of back country dirt road travel and sometimes towing a modified off-road teardrop trailer, I want the adjustability for when I’m towing also I live in Northern California and a lot of my areas I go for the day the roads getting there are very winding with lots of elevation gain and loss so body sway adjustment is important and then I’d like to back off the adjustments once I get off road, I had the fox 2.5 on my jeep 392 they were OK I was not impressed, I like the kings but they only have one compression dampening adjustment and I worry about their reliability so many people I know their shocks start leaking within a month or two, then there’s the new bilstein‘s and I’ve heard they make a lot of noise? I don’t know what that noise is? Is it annoying? any recommendation would be great, also ohlins came out with new shocks which I know will be top-of-the-line, since I was a super bike racer and we always Ran ohlins they are incredible, but they are probably double in price of everyone else. Thanks👍👍
