To everyone commenting about his parents... I just wanted to offer a different perspective. My parents were the type who had ZERO involvement in my academics/application process and honestly, it was an extremely lonely process. I'd see my friends' parents pushing them to apply to more schools/scholarships/etc while mine didn't even know I was in the process of applying. I know it's a headache to have overbearing parents, but for someone like me, I would've killed to have involved parents. Congrats on all your acceptances and successes to come! 🙌

Better than a parent too involved with the future THEY want for their kid not leaving for the kid andy time or space to work on the future THE KID wants for themselves. Work by yourself darling, as children of overprotective sheltering parents, i can tell you, you'll see all your dreams break one after the other.

How did you not lose any brain cells applying to that many universities?? Each application is like super tedious, multiple essays for some of the bigger name schools and filling out the rest of the information. Not only that, but I could barely handle knowing my admission results to the few universities I applied to- I’d be a wreck having to open 55 admission decisions. That’s crazy!! Congratulations- both on your acceptances and for not losing brain cells. 55 applications... I could barely handle the UC application...

First off. This applications expensive as hell. His parents or he spent like $5,000...
@kaitlyng78503 жыл бұрын
@@LaSombraa Yeah, some people do get fee waivers though so maybe he got that. Either that or super rich parents. But even if I got fee waivers/super rich parents paying $5000, there's no way I would sit there and fill out 55 applications. I nearly lost my mind keeping track of my UC/CSU applications (the only schools I applied to).

@Katie Ellen Tu yeah not really.... sounds like you just didn’t make the most of your degree if you think so College is hard and students often get very frustrated at times. But it’s in the end it’s all worth it because you need a degree for lots of jobs and it’s worth it if you end up getting to work in a field you’re passionate about (and majority of students would say the same thing)

Colleges make quite a profit from applicants, some smaller schools may charge as little as $50 per applicant while most mid size to large or elite schools charge upwards of $300 or more per applicant. A school that gets 20k applicants for 700 openings turns into quite a profit. Many of the top choices for many high school seniors are out of reach financially which many know before hand but just getting that acceptance letter is an ego boost. Filling out college applications can be stressful and frustrating in itself, filling out applications for 55 big name schools whil trying to keep on top of your current high school priorities is a lot for any high school senior to deal with. A lot of pressure is put on high school students, by parents, high school teachers, politicians and college leaders, to jump right into college or you'll be left behind and opportunities go to someone else. As someone who works for a mid size university in a non academic role I find that the biggest reason why many college freshman either withdraw before the 1st or 2nd semester ends or don't return for a 2nd year is for financial reasons but the fact that many freshman just aren't ready emotionally and there is nothing wrong with that. The big change that starts on your 1st day in college is that you are on your own, college teachers don't care and your parents aren't around to monitor your progress. Many high school seniors need a year break in between high school and the start of college to find themselves. I can't count the number of 1st year college students that have a completely different view of their chosen career after their very first college semester. I also see many 1st and 2nd year students have their chosen careers ruined before they even start them because they went out of control living the college life. Colleges are businesses and application fees are just another way for them to nickel & dime students, they even stick to those who want to be a student.

@@badruddinmahamed THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I am shocked to see that Claremont Pomona does not have grade deflation but McKenna does. Seriously considering EDing to Wash U, Vanderbilt or Dartmouth but grade deflation is a serious consideration as the goal is getting into med school. How is USC so far?
@badruddinmahamed2 жыл бұрын
@@antonias7637 Yeah Pomona's kinda inflated and CMC's kinda hard to get good grades at as far as i've heard. I didn't really look into Dartmouth too much but I do know that WashU is a little harder to be pre-med at compared to be Vandy. If those r the schools you're thinking abt EDing to I'd also look into Brown, Amherst, Williams, and Rice. USC's a pretty good school to be pre-med at. GPA deflation's middle of the road, not easy or too hard but pretty doable. I had a rough freshman year for like personal reasons but the school itself is good.
