Nice find for your next project! I'm a retired Firearms Examiner for law enforcement. We don't typically see tabs outward on bullet entrance holes 17:06. I'm sure the vehicle was processed by Forensics to document the bullet damage and recover evidence, so it could be that those tabs were pushed out during examination by the trajectory probes used in the forensics examination. Those probes are typically metal rods used to photo-document and measure bullet trajectories. I like your YT forensics observations and how you and Peter were trying to think through why the physical characteristics appear they way they did. That outward bulge in the inside of the RR door 19:33 is typical for a bullet that has flattened/deformed as it entered the door and struck the inner structure. That looks like it has been cut/pried open to recover anything inside. Sometimes the bullet holes make more sense once we see what type and caliber of bullet was recovered. In regards to Flamin' Hot Cheetos 19:34, that is a common encounter in shooting scene examinations! Examiners often chuckled when we found those in the car, because it was so commonplace. Take care.

I believe the in and out hole is created when a round goes in at an angle. As it enters it will both push metal in and plow it forward pushing the forward edge out. Think about splashing someone in a pool. As you push your hand forward you make a depression in the surface behind while displacing the water in front of your hand forward and upward. Hope that helps you visualize a in and out hole.

I like these CoPart vids. I have a dealer's license and buy cars from the Vegas CoPart. I love going in person to the lot because sometimes the listings are VERY inaccurate and you can find some gems that nobody bids on due to the incorrect listing. When you go to these lots, bring a grease pen so you can write, "do not fork" on your cars that you win. If the car is in nice shape, last thing you want is some fork going through the door by accident (It's happened to me. They tried to act like it was like that before I bid). BTW, Alex, you can buy those targa tops for under $1200 brand new.

the reason why a bullet leaves raised edges like that is usually from being high velocity. a lower velocity bullet is going to drag the material through the hole with it and will cause a concave. but a high velocity bullet, acts kind of like a meteor. and it tries to create a crater as it punches the center out, and that explosion of material back in the direction that the bullet came from, curls the edges and makes it look like a bullet came from the inside.

Generally speaking if you were to hit an animal or person ,both having liquid, it most likely won't pass through. But car doors don't have liquid in them which is why I believe they were hollow points in the first place just judging from a video that someone is showing.?. I'm not a ballistics expert but if it was a fmj the exit should be same size diameter as entry and some of those holes on the inside definitely seemed bigger than exterior ones. All just a theory that I am proposing from a question asked in the video itself.

It was definitely a soft round at an angle that made the holes look the way they do. Probably 9mm or a 22. With a soft round. The bigger hole to me looks like a larger revolver round or rifle. Everyone can comment what they want but I tried schooling for crime scene clean up and learned alot about angles of shooters bullets ect ect and ik your gonna say crime scene clean up isn't forensics and your right its not but they teach you these angles and such because you have to retrieve the bullets the police did not while doing as little damage as possible to whatever the bullet is in.

There is a VIN on the Engine and a Few More VIN's on the Frame so you could get it up int he Air make sure the VIN's Match Also with the Metal going in and out could have happened from the Round Expanding as it hit the Metal at an Angle and the Holes look like a Mix of 7.62 and 9mm
@Flooridain2 жыл бұрын
I believe the holes were made by a 12 gauge shotgun with both 'slugs" and ''00 buckshot' loaded into the magazine. The buckshot is several pellets about .38 caliber (9mm') in diameter that begin to spread out as soon as they leave the barrel accounting for the groups of smaller holes and slugs are the size of a 12 gauge barrel accounting for those giant holes that penetrated much further. Alternating these different ammunitions gives the shooter an offense that varies from a spread, offering a better chance of hitting a target and acute devastation with better penetration for concealed targets and stopping power in general. I had this going through my mind right before you asked and quickly searched comments for shotgun and found 0/0, so hopefully this isn't redundant.

Regarding the holes, when the bullet comes with an angle to a solid surface (especially a metal surface as the one in the video), because of the angle of the trajectory, this kind of sink holes paired with rises will occur. When the bullet made its first contact on the panel with an angle, behind and under the bullet it will be the sink area as it will be scooping out the material forward and in, and up and front of the bullet, it will be the rise area (which seems like the exit), as the impact of the bullet will be collecting all the extra material in front of the bullet.

But I have no problem watching your 45+ minute videos without losing focus. The videos are so entertaining and captures my attention. I absolutely love the friendship you and Peter have, just watching you guys goof around and just have a great time is my favorite part. I can tell you put a lot of effort into your videos. I learn something new from every video I watch of yours. I just wish I found your channel before about 2 weeks ago, because it’s really helpful for me to watch your videos. Keep up the great work!

Looking forward to see all the new cars and see the old project being worked on. That Corvette should get the older Style rims but custom so they would be a inch or 2 bigger and wider. It's a total 80's dreamcar with that bodykit. Some retro synth wave wrapping would also be nice

There are other VIN stamps on the frame under the carpet on the driver's or passenger side rocker panel. Most people don't know this. Pull the plastic sill plates and rotate the carpet and you will see it.

Metal has memory and can be under tension, especially on a hard bend like that. when the bullet went in it released that tension and part of it popped out... energy also can just transfer in interesting ways especially if a bullet is tumbling or ricocheting.
@nicolomarchillo44512 жыл бұрын
When a bullet hits a well insulated door, the immense pressure and heat after can cause the metal to actually bend outwards. The then metal on the door is essentially melted and becomes pliable, then the pressure from inside the door shoots air back through the hole and pushes the melted metal back out. It cools immediately and hardens. Just my best guess from a few years of shootin stuff lol

I’ve seen some strange holes in cars from gunshots. Typically the larger holes are from the bullet exiting. Bullets can Ricochet in the strangest ways.

Peter the ground effects kit looks like Greenwood or Eckler's sourced, which may be the same IIRC. Totally scored.

small holes are probably 9mm, the big one is 45 ACP, if it is a small caliber, on the side it comes out, sometimes you will see a "flap" that is folded over where it came out.

Congrats Dude I have 92 Vette Convertible with Vortech Supercharger bought Vette brand new in July one last 92 made also has 6 Sp manual. I'm a Master Mechanic 45+ years experience. I'm in Phoenix Az if you have any questions about Super Charger systems I know that Fuel Pump is Aftermarket it's very Expensive because it's S.C. needs a lot of Fuel goes into Boost. Anyway liked your video and way pick out cars. Klaus

With record crime levels and your access to Chi-Raq police impound and recovery vehicles you could literally make a video on cars with bullet holes in them every day for the next decade.. LOL. Seriously though, you pump out quality content and builds and really know how to turn wrenches actually so keep up the good work!!

The c5 corvette has the magnuson tvs2300 kit on it. those kits are big $$$ like $8k. Looked like a nice ride at one point. If it had headers and was super hot, the brake booster reservoirs melt and then a fire starts, that or fuel line failure at the rail maybe, just guesses.
@LegacyUser2 жыл бұрын
Bullets are striking at a high obliquity to the surface. So this causes one side to be pushed in and the other to be pushed out as the bullet penetrates the metal. Making for the confusing holes.
@donkeykong30142 жыл бұрын
The bullet hole in question was probably caused by a hallow point that was deflecting up as it expanded. The larger hole below was probably a .45 caliber. The smaller exit holes were caused by a smaller caliber with some good power behind it. If it was a pistol, I would guess a 5.7 FN or Ruger or it could have been an AR pistol in 5.56. Coke on down to the Florida Panhandle and I’ll take you to the range and let you shoot a variety of boom sticks.
@whollymindless2 жыл бұрын
That was my thought. .45 for the larger holes and AR for the smaller entry holes and huge interior holes as the energy moved more metal.. If the projectile hit from some kind of angle, it's reasonable that an edge would be lifted on the entry hole. When I saw the small entry holes, I thought .22 and then the damage inside screams AR.
