One of the best ones you have done. This Podcast goes from strength to strength.Great mix of funny and serious ones that people can relate to. Total honesty from Steven, very revealing to a lot of people who think footballers have an easy life.

One word: class. Appreciate that he was willing to open up and speak his mind to educate people and help reduce stigma. I don't care what anyone says, it takes courage when you're in such a macho world to be vulnerable.

All the very best Steve, from a Bristol City fan, and a former casino employee, who hand on heart, honestly tried to ‘help’ you walk away, so many times, from this ‘evil’ environment for so many very young people, who fall into that ‘trap’. I hope every youngster can take this podcast onboard, and LEARN something, so RESPECT for that. Take care ⚽️⚽️ 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Steven was a Rolls Royce of a defender, even while on loan at Bristol City you could see his class & it was really expected that he’d be an England regular for years. Hearing the start of this podcast, a lot of Bristol City supporters were under the impression that a lot of his gambling & drinking issues started while on loan at Bristol City & was partly down to him being left to his own devices for the majority of his time at the club but it now seems like the club maybe aren’t so responsible for what happened although the club have learnt from Steven’s time at the club, players that either come in or leave on loan are now well looked after & cared for. It was horrible to hear what was happening to Steven when it became public & the way his career was going but big props to him for getting himself on the right side of things now & being able to play again. Just finished watching & fair play to you for your ‘Behind the white lines’ project & I really wish you the best of luck with it.

Sounds like a highly intelligent guy who is able to think critically - this type of honesty is very rare, and we need more people like Steven Caulker.

Absolutely. He turned his life around! He gets respected in Turkey also for him being able to speak turkish just fine. Very unfortunate with his choice to go to Fenerbahce. Trabzon and Besiktas would’ve been good and obviously playing for Galatasaray is the best option in Turkey. I was sad to see him at Fenerbahce… they are just a mess.

Great interview that!!! He was pretty decent at Cardiff considering the place was a circus at the time. The rebrand with the red kit, Malky getting sacked and Solskjaer picking 6 strikers for one game. The place was bonkers. It's great that he's using his experiences to create something positive. 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿👍

Love the honesty here. As a gambling addict, I can’t even imagine the kind of vultures that would be on to you if you were in those kind of situations. Me and my mate at 18 was in Betfred North London... All of sudden this geeza walks in and starts betting roulette beside us... Asked him are you Caulker? We then asked him like what's the point in gambling when you probably earn like £20-30k a week... His response was "just for fun init"... I'll never forget that day. So random...

Since Steven joined my team, Yeovil as a 17/18-year-old, I have been a keen follower of his career. He was exceptional and won all the end of season awards during his time at the club. Coincidentally, I later moved to Antalya in Turkey, which is just down the road from Alanyaspor, and had the pleasure of watching Steven continue to grow. He was undoubtedly the best defender in the Turkish superlig during his first two seasons here. Unfortunately, he was unfairly treated by Fenerbahce, and I was left puzzled as to why he didn't then go to Besiktas or Trabzonspor but rather signed for Gaziantep, which was like signing for Liverpool as the best defender in the league and then being sent on loan to AFC Bournemouth! Steven's interview was exceptional, and I found him to be honest, intelligent, and a role model for other players. It was a pleasure to watch and listen to him.

I remember seeing Steven at a casino in Bristol when he was on loan at city, he was with a mate and when I asked if he was Steven Caulker to spark a conversation his friend very bluntly said no. I thought they were a bit rude or were just sick of people asking. Having listened to this podcast and read a few articles, that interaction completely makes sense to me now. Btw he was absolutely class on loan at us and always wanted to see him go on to achieve big things! Great to see he seems to be in a better place with control over his addictions now too

I understood every word this man said in regards to gambling , I was the equivalent to a chronic heroin addict but with gambling . Every penny I got went on gambling sites , I'd be paid for a month's work , id wait up till early morning for when the bank transfer happened then all that money could be gone in minutes , at first you feel sick but then you get used to it , begging stealing or borrowing off people to get through the month. I remember turning £200 into £12k one night while drunk , I'm going back years but I only probably earned 12k in a year and I'm in huge debt but I still gambled that 12k in minutes of winning it ....its a disease , a crippling disease and you still go back to it after all the pain it's caused.
