This might not be news to you but I restore synthetic wigs for local theater companies and I do so by putting them in rollers and then pouring boiling water, usually from a tea pot, right over the curlers and then letting them dry. This usually takes about two days but the results are great.

Don’t boil synthetic wigs, the boiling water will begin to straighten the curls. Soak your wigs in FABRIC SOFTENER overnight, detangle and let dry, your wig will be back to brand new.

If you're still dealing with matting in the back I recommend using a clothing steamer to steam that section whilst you comb it with a wide toothed comb, very gently starting at the ends and working your way up. Ideally a wig should be completely detangled before submerging into a pot of boiling water.

Start by brushing it out and straightening the entire thing with a flat iron. Be sure to test an inconspicuous area first. Try at 300°. Some of them can go up to 370. Then braid it and dip it in boiling water for about 30 seconds and then dip it in cold water. Take the braids out and shake it and voila, fresh curls!

I fix all my synthetic wigs to fix this wig I would have detangled the hair with a wig brush the plat the hair up to freshen up the waves. To soften the fibers I would use fabric softener. Also, I don't actually keep the fire to the water like in cooking the hair, I just bring it to a boil then submerged the hair for 5-10 minutes. The same way we use to curl the ends of-of braids extensions back in the day .

Well if im not mistaken the hair is to be combed out first with a paddle brush because due to the hair is of synthetic fiber which is plastic, you have a greater chance of it knotting up and harder to fix if just submerged in boiling water like that.... Am I wrong?! Now this method is very new to me but I will stick to putting the hair on a stand and pour the boilin water on the hair... Great option though but not safe enough for me 🤔🤔🤔🤔

try using fabric softener for the synthetic wigs. i was using the conditioners and a woman i know who professionally does hair said that its a fiber...treat it like a fabric. i use a wig brush an brush mines out prior to submerging it in the boiling water. also i don't "cook" it i just swoosh it around getting it soaking wet then i hover it over my sink and comb thru it with a wide tooth comb or my wig brush. i repeat that 3x. the 1st 2x i have fabric softener or conditioner on the wig an the last time i rinse it in a 2nd pot i have of just water. then i towel dry it an place it on a wig head an brush it out an let it air dry over night. during that process after the wig is wet u can snip the ends if need be also. its pretty cool and helps u to keep your synthetic wigs longer. even my little $20 wigs *gigglez* thanks fro sharing your experience. i think you should try a leave in conditioner for the matted parts in the back while its wet an comb thru it with a wide tooth comb...I've done that with my straight haired wigs an it works, maybe it will too for the curly wig ^_^

You what to get light in a warm it's shirt like a washing machine and then let it air-dry out is the perfect conditioning for synthetic wigs. Worked at a costume shop and we would have to wash the wigs in between customer usage and I would stick them in the washing machine washing machine one day and then have to bring them home and soak them in the bathtub the next time you have to use boiling hot water with Woolite and it makes synthetic wigs super soft and ready to be curled again

re 'set' the wig in curlers and youre going to DIP not let it sit in the pot. dip/dunk a couple times then you can rinse in cold water before taking out your curlers. fabric softner instead of conditioner..it's plastic so it wont absorb the conditioner. human hair you can treat just like your own.. a wig brush and wig spray will do wonders as far as keeping them pristine.

By doing that you're changing the wigs length making it uneven and always changing the style too

You don't have to boil them you can wash them with shampoo n condition them...rinse conditioner out n let air dry. It will do the same but it's best to use a oil based shampoo n conditioner like Pantene for women of color

For one... Use a pot that is big enough to hold all of that. Might turn out better.

I couldn't help but notice that the clock on the stove stayed at 4:21 which seemed like forever. So actually how long did you let your unit soak in the water for before actually removing it?

I wouldn’t try it it’s synthetic waste of time in my opinion but it was fun to watch you experiment

Your wig turned out beautiful. Very resourceful. I love the texture. Nice tutorial Queen. I'm gonna try that with one of my many snarled wigs

Next time wash first with woolite (or any dollar store fabric soap) and condition with fabric softner. Let air dry. When its dry brush out matted parts then two strand twist the wig. Boil it. Let dry fully and take it down. When you finger comb or separate your curls you should have the desired look. Because its synthetic fiber fabric wash and softner works best then you dont have to use your good hair conditioner on your synthetic wig. Also if you feel like being daring brush wig before you wash it to get all tangles out. It makes for a much easier process. If u want a different curl pattern try flexirods. Peace.

Well first of all, I don't know what you are trying to achieve by boiling this wig. Are you trying to straighten the curls down by boiling it. You didn't let us know anything.
