It's true a stock police 5.7L is a 6s 0-60 car. But once you put a tazer and unlock the performance, put paddle shifters, open up the exhaust and intake, it's a less than 5 second car.

I made a similar video about buying used cop cars, and I said some of the exact same points. I highly recommend if you’re going to buy any used cop car, regardless of maker, model, have a little bit of mechanical knowledge, because regardless of what model it is… There is more than likely going to be something that’s going to need repair.well spoken, sir

Well said! My first car definitely had its issues lol. I actually just put out an Impala Sleeper video that shares more about my first car and the crazy after market support they have. Cop cars have a place in my heart, but unless the rare Caprice PPV I’m not sure I’d buy another one at this point. 🤷‍♂️🙂

I wish dodge had put a couple of small turbos on the 5.7L. At altitude like you are it would have performed well and it would have really given it some legs that the naturally aspirated setup lacks.

I just bought a 2019 charger cop car, and I love it!! I put 5% tint on it and I use it as a daily. It was a old state trooper car. I absolutely love it!!

@@86501freightliner I believe the new ones offer the 8 speed with the V8 but I’m certain that the put the V6 and 8 speed together. You can’t get the V8 all wheel drive anymore. It’s rear wheel V8 or all wheel V6

I bought the same car (2 wheel drive) and it had a collapsed lifter and i fixed it myself because it was a $6000 job and I did it in about a month in my garage and the hemi sounds quite now,I still own my first cop car I bought a 1996 9C1 caprice,that Chevy I’ve had since 2005.l expect the dodge to last just as long.

I grew up in SE Washington State, 5 miles from a town of 2K people on a farm. The town couldn’t afford to buy new police cars so they would buy wore out CA Highway Patrol cars. They would drive them until they died. They wouldn’t even change the oil. They were horrible cars. One time I was going through town (the speed limit was 25mph) and I was driving 28mph; on came the police officer with his lights flashing to pull me over. I was in an old Datsun (Nissan) pickup. I put it in 2nd gear and stomped on the floor. The chase was on. I hit the county line and kept my foot in it. After turning onto Corral Creek Road, I kept running and on that long flat road. Even in 4th gear I was running away from that worn out police car. I finally arrived at Whan Road and turned right. We were the 2nd farm and when I rounded up the driveway I hit the garage door opener, (forgetting that I needed a new one), so I drove around to the back of the house. Just as I was heading to the back door of the garage, I heard the sirens go by. And that’s my experience with worn out police cars.

Haha, awesome story. I’m sure he spent the rest of his career looking for that old Datsun, and most other cars that got away. 😉 How frustrating it must have been when you’re not even given adequate equipment to do your job. Especially one of such importance and risk like being an officer.

It does not have the Zf 8- Speed that was only put in the pursuit models year 21-23. 15-20 model year has the NAG1 5 speed automatic.

I could see getting one for a Hobie. Working on it evening and weekends. Terrorize the neighbors with it. But definitely not as a daily. My first car was a US forestry service car. I bought at a government auction. 68 AMC Rebel . My grandfather was a mechanic with them for 40 years. He told me what car to bid on and how much to bid. He had just rebuilt the engine. Every body thought I over paid. Closed bid. Little did they know.

That’s an awesome story! How long did you keep it for? I really enjoyed my Impala, especially with the supercharger and bolt ons. Senior year was very fun, but I babied that car way to much and hardly used the extra power it had. If I were to buy a cop car now, it would have to be the Caprice like I shown a picture of. Those weren’t sold by GM to the public. It was a short wheelbase Pontiac G8 GT. The problem with owning one though is replacement parts are expensive and hard to find because it was such a limited niche vehicle, unlike a Hemi Charger, lol. 🙂

I kept it for 8 years. Had gotten married, we had a baby. Over that period. I took her mustang and she got a new Hyundai EXL. Not bashing Hyundai, however I have never owed another. I know they are better cars now. But it was such a bad experience if I did ever get one and had issues, I could only blame myself.

And be able to work a lot during high school and use my own income to purchase a car and even some modifications, I was very privileged to be in that position but also enjoyed the results of a lot of hard and smart work.
