Amazing that you got a blue on white from inventory. I ordered the same exact car back in mid April. Just received my Vin and will receive the car within a couple of weeks. I was thinking of changing to a long range out of Fremont, but my advisor said that everyone who ordered the white interior out of Austin would be receiving their vehicles. Glad I hung in there and will be getting mine soon. Congratulations.

Just picked up a 4680 model y yesterday. I’m very happy with it so far. The fit and finish is amazing. I think this Austin version has most of the flaws worked out based on some of the videos I’ve seen of people showing issues with quality with other models. It handles better than any car I have ever owned.

Nice.. will be interested in hearing your opinion on going from the Rivian to the Y... I know you mentioned in one of your last videos how you like a smaller/agile maneuverable car than a larger truck like the Rivian... but how is it going from the ride height of that Rivian down to a sedan? Also if price/budget wasn't an issue was the Rivian definitely a better all around rig?

Congrats! I'd be interested in the charging stuff and any comparisons to the Long-Range AWD. Does Tesla still recommend 80%-90% daily charging? It's interesting to hear you talk about a 1,000 mile trip comparison to the LR AWD. I made the same calculous when I bought my2020 SR+. In practice, I found it takes one additional charge compared to LR (in ABRP). It will be interesting to see your roadtrips.

I just got virtually the same AWD model and build, Branden-the only difference being a black interior. I will be very interested in seeing what kind of charge curves you see at v3 superchargers. Thus far, I’ve seen very mediocre rates even from a low SOC. (I never see peaks above 200 kWh, and even then, the peak lasts maybe 5 seconds. I’m thinking Tesla is throttling the charging throughput on account of issues with the 4680 battery.)

I read somewhere that the Austin 4680 model with Giga castings feels more solid than the Fremont Model Y. We have a 2021 Model Y that was built before the noisy suspension was revised. Yours should drive like a dream with the 19” wheels, revised suspension and front and rear Giga castings.

I just love my Model Y. I just put the new Hancook EVo tires on it and man are they quiet and smooth.. I took a 1000 mile road trip and I think the efficiency was good., it wasn't bad. The Model Y is all around the perfect utilitarian car. it does everything. I have the trailer hitch on mine (I had the same issue.. one came available without it, so I added it later)

@brandenflasch thanks for the reply. I bet you both will enjoy the Y. The doors are taller, along with the seats that are higher, and it makes it much easier to get in and out. I never had a 4 wheel or all wheel drive vehicle until 2018 with the 3, and now will only own all wheel drive vehicles.

I took delivery of my MYLR last week and it is my first EV. I think that I made the right choice since mine came with the version 4 hardware and I was not expecting that. The car has been very easy to live with and I have not noticed any fit and finish issues as well. I thought that the one pedal driving would be difficult to learn but I learned it in a day.

Good choice Brandon as I just got a 4680 also. What vehicle config are you using in ABRP? The question of the day is if the 2023 "Standard Range" Y an AWD or RWD without the 4680. I see that someone has requested a Y AWD 4680 config to ABRP. The difference should only be charging times in the planner and might be significant

I love it, an awesome color inside and out sir‼️ You know the 4680 design with a short path for electrons to the atomic structure of the battery chemical makeup equaling practically no heat buildup due to electron transfer: I would’ve thought that, that battery pack would’ve unleashed faster charge times. I’m curious if that was offset because there is no cooling (I don’t think there is) so they basically charge about the same. Hope you can catch me up on the battery pack tech because I didn’t see much of the Munro tear down episodes.🤭 11:08

But everyone on the internet says it isn't worth it because it is 2xx instead of 3xx range! TBH, I've done the same analysis and I keep coming to the same conclusion as you. The speed difference is minimal, and the real world range difference doesn't seem large enough to have a big impact. It seems like the better deal in the lineup right now.

Hi how do you know or how sure you are that you brought a Tesla model Y 2023 that has 4680 battery? As far as I know 4680 batteries are still in a manufacturing process. As far as I know all Tesla model Y 2023 still using 2170 batteries. Kindly ask the technical staff about your battery pack.

You are not correct. Every “Model Y AWD” trim level has 4680 structural pack.

I considered the model Y 4680 but I ended up going with the ioniq5. 4680s have kind of been a let down so far. Elon hyped them up so much and when they finally come out they are just meh.

@@brandenflasch I did the same thing last year, kind of, there was lots of YT content on AWD LR Mach-E so I went out and bought the cheapest one you could RWD SR. 42K At the time it wasn't a bad car but I missed the acceleration of AWD so I only kept it one year, now I'm testing ioniq5 AWD It's not bad, but I'll be glad to get back in a Tesla.

I think this is an important distinction that gets lost in the 4680 number which is just a new form factor at this point?

Looks cool, Brandon, great choice. I took the OEM wheel covers off my Model Y LR because the wheels just look better and I haven't noticed any range loss but not measured it. I'd be interested in an accurate range check with and without the covers on your Model Y SR as the difference would likely apply directly to my car. Also great color with the metallic blue, it really glows when clean. Cheers.

I'm definitely interested in real world 70 mph range. Thinking tesla for my next car but can't really tell how overstated or understated the range is. Also, what tesla gets right about overall ownership (updates, service etc) compared to rivian or polestar or other cars you've had.

Yes! All highways around me are 75 MPH, so I'd like to know that figure as well. Going north to Salt Lake City, the speed limit is 80 almost the entire way there!

Range is not that important as long as you have great fast charging. I have a 300 mile ish model 3 performance. We drive three hours and stop for 15 minutes and keep going. It’s not as important as it seems honestly.

Congrats on the new car. I would be really interested on how much range you get from 70% to 10% and 80% to 10%. I want to know what real world road trip range is. Full range from 100% to zero is useless, since no one really drives that way on road trips.

100% to 0% gives you the ability to extrapolate any other ranges

Usually fairly close, but not always. It’s close enough to use for estimations in most cases.
