@@HighPeakAutos not at all Matt you are doing amazing and I for one totally enjoy your older land rover stuff. To walk my lab I walk past a indy garage that seems to specialise in land rover jaguar, so the road is always full of old Vogue's, Xj's Freelander's and Disco's. I never miss having a look even to the point of peering in the windows... One day my friend one day.

I completely agree. I think that is the last time cars were built to last. I've currently got a 1 of 300, 22 yo Toyota Crown Athlete VX. Just gone through another MOT, with no issues. In the nearly 3 years I've had it, its never let me down. Been on many multihour many mile trips.

Agreed - peak car era. I live in Aus now, but we still have my original 2002 D2 V8 bought new as a company car, a 2002 Mazda Tribute and a 2007 Ford Falcon BF wagon on LPG at about 50p/L. No point anything newer as they offer so little more given all the above have BT, ABS and the basics. I love tech, it's my industry but not in cars. Enjoy the basics of driving too much Also, too aware of how much I hate having new cars scratched etc...

My 03 L322 was Giverney green with cream leather. As you say a really classy colour. Looked great in Kensington, equally great in a muddy field, and best of all, muddy in Kensington. As a new one I had no engine issues (or indeed anything at all) in the two years I had it, and it remains the most comfortable non-Citroen I've had (nothing has ever come close to my SM). It was a Vogue so had the superlative comfort seats like yours. Yours will tidy up very nicely and count me jealous. Too many are interfered with - an electrician mentioned when chatting (normal Devon tradesmen behaviour) his air struts had both gone, then he mentioned he'd put 22 inch alloys on it. Hello, that extra rubber was designed as part of the suspension set up. I shall enjoy how you get on, oh, and I was considerably older man than you at 5. I bought Vivaldi's Four Seasons...

I've owned several L322s and I reckon they offer the best road/off-road compromise of any RR ever made. There is an 08 L422 for sale nearby me here in Sydney and it is in my dream spec: Vogue with cream leather and in metallic cobalt blue. Best of all, it has the 4.2 litre Supercharged V8. Interior trim is Walnut which I would need to change out for the far superior American Cherrywood. The dealer is asking A$40K for this one cosseted owner Classic. So tempted...

A 17-year-old Range Rover sounds like a money pit to me but there is no accounting for taste and it wasn't exactly expensive. I look forward to part two. They are a money pit. It might seem like it's fine when you buy it, because the previous owner has probably spent £1000s fixing it. I think they use a lot of cheap electrical parts (Lucas electrical) which is usually what causes issues. Every model of car has it's lemons, Japanese cars tend to have far less (esp. the ones actually built in Japan). But when it comes to RRs, most are lemons.

I'm fortunate enough to own a 2011 Autobiography which is much loved and cherished. It has the same switch gear as one of my early 2000's Jags, which to me was a bonus as I love the design and functionality. As Matt says it's important to look after them and from time to time things WILL go wrong. I've looked at the later shape models as a possible replacement when the time comes but as I use mine for transporting my wife's paintings the 'older' shape is much more practical with a flat loading area when the rear seats are down.

Just a thought for you, might be worth flipping the sill covers off and rear wheel Arch liners and undersealing underneath them as that’s the only real area for rust on these, stop it before it spreads up the rear wheel arch/door shut, I had to cut out, weld and replace mine😂 the covers are nice and easy to remove. I think you're living the dream mate. you're doing exactly what I should have done 45, nay 50 years ago! Good luck to you. Nice car that L322.

My Dad owns a 2007 L322 TDV8 Vogue, which he bought when it was only a few months old. He still loves it, and has never felt the need to change it! Looking forward to seeing the turnaround on this.

Great purchase, enjoy Matt. Given the usual stereotypes on forums interesting the Jaguar engine is the one to go for vs. the usual German image of engineering perfection.

Billy Joel….. I think you’re spot on there Matt, exactly the same as what radio station it’s tuned into, they are all tell tale signs of the type of person the previous owner was. That’s why I went for a gold coloured L405 which for the last 3 years had only been driven to church and back on a Sunday 😂. Not as you say a RR owned by a failed rapper… Great purchase and please keep us up to date with its repairs 👍

Are the wheels OEM? Great design and impact against the green, will look smashing once refurbished. While the from bumper is off, there maybe the wires and connectors to add the missing fog lamps. Ditto in the has for the switch. I'm only surmising that the loom is the same across the spec levels. Crisp LED fogs would stand out. Added value given no towbar, transmission should be in great shape too.

Love your guidelines! I found a beautiful supercharged, and I had a good feeling about it when talking to the owner. When i saw it in person i fell in love. So when he told me to take a drive i went on checking little things. Just before turnig on the radio i was hoping it would be on one of the classical music stations, and it was! Then i opened the glove box, has a service history from beginning and all receipts from 2017 till today. In the trunk, original wiper blades in the box still, with nice little Land Rover logo 😂 everything works on the car besides timed heating(webasto), probably because it was never used. Not low mileage, 205xxx km, but it's like new. Love every second driving it!

Nice choice Matt - love the colour combo and a favourite car of mine after having had the pre-P38 'classics' - has the proper look about it.

Matt Like your purchase. 4 months ago after seeing too many of your videos I brought a 114k mile 2009 5 litre supercharged L322 for less than £15k. Dark green, cream/brown upholstery. After the application of a further £2k I think/hope I have a good car. Great on a long run, super relaxing driving locally and I'm even getting double figure mpg! Funnily enough, I think I know who to blame when it goes wrong... Keep on with the videos

Hi Matt, what a gem, love the 322, looking forward to the end result. Sadly I would love one from you as it would be sorted, but alas cannot import to Cyprus if more than 5 years old.

You certainly do love a Range Rover, good to see one out in the snow up in the Peaks where they look just right...instead of poncing about in their 1000s down here in Surrey 👍

That's excellent purchase love colour combination my inner old man approves and is jealous as I'm selling indigo blue S-type. Also top tip go for Michelin latitude cross after many years of pirelli scorpions in various Range Rovers my family had switched to the Michelins and the difference in ride quality and handling was impressive.

Brilliant vlog. You might have convinced me to keep mine now. After a year ownership and many trips to garage. I decided to get a boring bmw 520d luxury touring for our family car. However my 2004 l322 4.4 v8 is still parked down the side of my house on a trickle charger. Was planning to get rid in the new year but might not now after seeing this 😅

Good to see it’s been looked after and will continue to be loved. I’m about to show some love to my parents car they’ve given me which is a Nissan murano. Not iconic but I’m obsessed with it while it’s like my childhood car.. my biggest issue with these is when do you stop spending. In my head I justify it by saying even if it cost 2k a year to maintain- it’s still cheaper than a new car on finance
