@@HighPeakAutos not at all Matt you are doing amazing and I for one totally enjoy your older land rover stuff. To walk my lab I walk past a indy garage that seems to specialise in land rover jaguar, so the road is always full of old Vogue's, Xj's Freelander's and Disco's. I never miss having a look even to the point of peering in the windows... One day my friend one day.

I completely agree. I think that is the last time cars were built to last. I've currently got a 1 of 300, 22 yo Toyota Crown Athlete VX. Just gone through another MOT, with no issues. In the nearly 3 years I've had it, its never let me down. Been on many multihour many mile trips.

Agreed - peak car era. I live in Aus now, but we still have my original 2002 D2 V8 bought new as a company car, a 2002 Mazda Tribute and a 2007 Ford Falcon BF wagon on LPG at about 50p/L. No point anything newer as they offer so little more given all the above have BT, ABS and the basics. I love tech, it's my industry but not in cars. Enjoy the basics of driving too much Also, too aware of how much I hate having new cars scratched etc...

My 03 L322 was Giverney green with cream leather. As you say a really classy colour. Looked great in Kensington, equally great in a muddy field, and best of all, muddy in Kensington. As a new one I had no engine issues (or indeed anything at all) in the two years I had it, and it remains the most comfortable non-Citroen I've had (nothing has ever come close to my SM). It was a Vogue so had the superlative comfort seats like yours. Yours will tidy up very nicely and count me jealous. Too many are interfered with - an electrician mentioned when chatting (normal Devon tradesmen behaviour) his air struts had both gone, then he mentioned he'd put 22 inch alloys on it. Hello, that extra rubber was designed as part of the suspension set up. I shall enjoy how you get on, oh, and I was considerably older man than you at 5. I bought Vivaldi's Four Seasons...

I've owned several L322s and I reckon they offer the best road/off-road compromise of any RR ever made. There is an 08 L422 for sale nearby me here in Sydney and it is in my dream spec: Vogue with cream leather and in metallic cobalt blue. Best of all, it has the 4.2 litre Supercharged V8. Interior trim is Walnut which I would need to change out for the far superior American Cherrywood. The dealer is asking A$40K for this one cosseted owner Classic. So tempted...

They are a money pit. It might seem like it's fine when you buy it, because the previous owner has probably spent £1000s fixing it. I think they use a lot of cheap electrical parts (Lucas electrical) which is usually what causes issues. So when he told me to take a drive i went on checking little things. Just before turnig on the radio i was hoping it would be on one of the classical music stations, and it was! Then i opened the glove box, has a service history from beginning and all receipts from 2017 till today. In the trunk, original wiper blades in the box still, with nice little Land Rover logo 😂 everything works on the car besides timed heating(webasto), probably because it was never used. It has the same switch gear as one of my early 2000's Jags, which to me was a bonus as I love the design and functionality. As Matt says it's important to look after them and from time to time things WILL go wrong. I've looked at the later shape models as a possible replacement when the time comes but as I use mine for transporting my wife's paintings the 'older' shape is much more practical with a flat loading area when the rear seats are down.

Brave man to include the childhood photo! Someone commented on one of your other videos you were Bermudan, guess it's been confirmed!

You certainly do love a Range Rover, good to see one out in the snow up in the Peaks where they look just right...instead of poncing about in their 1000s down here in Surrey 👍

Out of context but it just brought me back in 2012 when my parents had purchased a brand new Freelander 2 HSE beige. Loved that car but it had gotten ruined by being used as a tractor by my dad (sadly). It ended up being traded-in in 2016 for nothing lol (with a lot of electrical issues). But still what a lovely Range Rover you bought !!

Hi Matt I love a good L322 they’re fantastic, I have a 2003 l322 with the noisy bmw diesel in Epsom green with the same Aspen/ ivory interior and over the last year I’ve been enjoying it and restoring it and in fairness it’s been very reliable. Just a thought for you, might be worth flipping the sill covers off and rear wheel Arch liners and undersealing underneath them as that’s the only real area for rust on these, stop it before it spreads up the rear wheel arch/door shut, I had to cut out, weld and replace mine😂 the covers are nice and easy to remove. Thanks for the great content.

That’s a lovely car, I used to drive the first gen one of these with a V8 petrol engine, using it as a workhorse.

Best of luck! I am a little jealous, I sold my L322 a few weeks ago, the earlier 4.4 V8 bmw engine, I am missing it already! Someone did once say to me that few things are more expensive than a cheap range Rover! I look forward to the update!

This is literally my favorite color on a RR and it's so rare, my aunt had the exact same color combo on an 06 HSE V8 petrol. This car will forever be one of my faves

my favourite shape too, great find. Really enjoy watching these and look forward to part 2. Wouldn't find anything like it near the south coast where I am. Seems much dearer here and that's saying something as I've recently moved from SE London!

Hi Matt, what a gem, love the 322, looking forward to the end result. Sadly I would love one from you as it would be sorted, but alas cannot import to Cyprus if more than 5 years old.

There, in essence, is the skill acquired from experience in buying many cars as a business. Knowing the car is honest - there’s a huge difference between that and an ‘average’ car which will have multiple owners who all go through phases with it, so it’ll have multiple cheap and obvious repairs to body & paint - this one just has honest scars - it’s 16 years old - ironically always for any trader an actual pleasure to see. There’ll be a few hidden surprises but instinctively you know they won’t be serious enough to give you that ‘sinking’ feeling. It’s a nice thing, and that always gives that warm fuzzy feeling when you hand over the cash.
