Good to see you are healthy and have pushed through the pandemic. I’m in between getting a K7 GSXR 750 similar to the one you had, the 2014 R1 and the S1000RR First Gen. I’m currently on a R6 and its hard not seen myself on a Yamaha but I’m leaning towards the RR slightly over the R1. Keep in mind it would also be my first liter bike as well.

You have a really good dilemma on your hands! If you can, hold on to that R6, those are going to go crazy price wise. I let a good friend ride the Double-R (video to come) and he said it reminds him of a better, more comfortable R1. He had a 2009, which was one of the best they made. I met someone this past weekend who just purchased a brand-new double-R and was coming off an R7. Normally I wouldn’t suggest that transition but these bakes have such a linear power delivery that you can ride it based on your skill and confidence and grow into it. If I can offer any advice, it would be to not get too confident too soon. The thing that makes liter bikes challenging is how fast they do everything. It takes a lot of seat time to ever properly manage it and the street isn’t the place to do it. If you have access to a track, it’s a solid investment in the enjoyment of the bike. And fear of it is a good thing. You’ll probably never be able to ride it at 8 or 9 tenths. If you can, test ride it for about 30 mins to get a feel for it. I can tell you this much, you will love it 🤜🏽
