Great vid Pete. I had a 50cc scooter a couple years back and LOVED IT. Cheap, chinese thing which topped out at 45mph but I had an absolute blast on it. Shows you don't need something fancy or high-powered to have fun! I had that exact disc lock. The bungee goes through the lock when engaged, and the otherside goes round the habdle to remind you of the disc lock.

That was a nice score. Price is ok for NZ I guess. A lick of paint, some cable ties and you've got yourself a nice Asian Kingswood family car. Seats 5. Just glue the tyre back together to keep it in authentic Asian running order.

I bought one exactly the same, except the colour, in 2008 when they first started coming into NZ. I had it until 2021 and used it almost everyday to get to work (rain, frost or snow!). I did trick it out a bit by changing the rollers in the clutch to I think lighter ones that gave it more top end revs and put a trick ECM in it too. I could get 60km out of it easy-ish. The biggest problem with them is their carbi's. If you leave it sitting for a while, you have to give the carbi a clean out. Other than that, it was almost as cheap as my electric car to run 😀

my 125cc 1986 honda elite mopad I did 15,000km a year on it no problem riding around. and mine had no plastics !!! I put it to sleep at 80k km, 60k km was my 3 yrs owning it !!! and I off roaded mine !!! like it was a dirt bike !!! all they had to do was unplug the ignition and use a battery to jump it. same I had to do to mine till I found a random honda key that worked on it !!!

Very risky using that wire for a fuse! Top tip: One strand of wire will carry about 5 amps; much safer than risking setting fire to the wiring harness!
