My best bike was a used '84 V45. 30 years ago, rode it stock from LA to NYC to Boston n' back and a couple round 'puts' to MI/NYC in The Great Wide Open - no hotels, motels or lay-overs. Loved it. Gave it to an MI cousin thinkin' it might be there later. Sold it outright and went into oblivion. But Karma kicked in and is probably [still] wanted by John B. Law. That Magna thoroughly sold me on Honda and, after 30 years, looking to hop back on a bike to celebrate my upcoming retirement. Looking at a PCH 800 (seen it, a good re-trainer - no highway pegs) or a Harley Ultra (w/highway pegs :) for the long run - either used, of course. Keep ridin', everyone.

The Pacific Coast is a great bike, that's almost what he went for before we came across this Magna. We're definitely Honda people when it comes to bikes 🤙

Still loving my 83 Magna.

IIRC '83 didn't have a 700, it would have been either the V45 or the V65 right?

I think hondas are the best of the four Japanese bike makers i was a expert rider gave up riding after a few life threatening close calls

Of course, I'm looking at the Honda 'Shadows', too. :))

My first bike was a Shadow 600, and my dad had the 1100 for about 20 years before it started to have too many issues to be worth it any more.

There’s a lot of Shadows on the market when I was looking at the Magna.

I've got an 83 one of those. Besides from the small main tank it's a great bike. In South Australia they are very rare and, I could be wrong, but I think I may have the only one in the state.
@redhenracing22 ай бұрын
The tank is indeed annoying, only having a range of ~145 miles with no reserve can be pretty inconvenient

That's a very classic and therefore difficult bike to compete with... Don't make me find an old Honda Monkey. Jokes aside, agree handle bar position make all the difference.

What if we had matching Silverwing scramblers 🥺
@Tsumanne2 ай бұрын
@@redhenracing2 Hmmmm. If it ain't a Honda Monkey, then it's gotta be a Royal Enfield INT 650. It's basically a Silverwing with a more highway capable engine. But then again, I dig Honda. Even if they are discontinuing the Super Cub... Wieners.
