“Reading makes you sexy” The study found that 58 percent of readers were very satisfied when both parties read books, compared to 39 percent when neither party reads. Although attractiveness is subjective, the study also found that 81% of women and 77% of men believed that being a reader was attractive. Sooooo yeah.

The timestamps if anyone is interested: 1:52 - "No One is Talking About This" (Humorous Fiction) by Patricia Lockwood. 2:33 - "Rodham" (Alternate History) by Curtis Sittenfeld. 3:12 - "Hamnet" (Historical Fiction) by Maggie O'Farrell. 3:52 - "Shuggie Bain" (Coming of Age/Bildungsroman) by Douglas Stuart. 4:30 - "The Other Black Girl" (Thriller/Suspense) by Zakiya Dalila Harris. 5:04 - "Loveless" (Young Adult) by Alice Oseman. 6:07 - "Memorial" (Humour/Coming-of-Age) by Bryan Washington. 6:57 - "Circe" (Historical/Fantasy Fiction) by Madeline Miller. 7:47 - "Convenience Store Woman" (Contemporary Adult Fiction) by Sayaka Murata. 8:34 - "Such a Fun Age" (Contemporary Adult Fiction) by Kiley Reid. 9:36 - "The Girl With the Louding Voice" (Contemporary Adult Fiction/Young Adult Fiction) by Abi Daré. Also, this novel has mentions/descriptions of rape so please read with caution. 10:01 - "Exciting Times" (Contemporary LGBT Romance) by Naoise Dolan. 10:35 - "Burnt Sugar" (Contemporary Adult Fiction) by Avni Doshi. 11:17 - "Detransition, Baby" (Contemporary LGBT Fiction) by Torrey Peters. 11:45 - "Malibu Rising" (Contemporary Historical(?) Fiction) by Taylor Jenkins Reid. 12:53 - "The Maidens" (Thriller/Mystery/Mythology) by Alex Michaelides. 13:05 - "Luster" (Contemporary Adult Romance) by Raven Leilani. 13:29 - "Before the Coffee Gets Cold" (Magical Realism) by Toshikau Kawaguchi. 14:12 - "Yolk" (Young Adult(?)/Adult) by Mary H.K. Choi. Also, according to Goodreads, the protagonist in this novel has an eating disorder so it may be triggering for some readers. 15:08 - "Everything I Never Told You" (Historical Fiction) by Celeste Ng. 15:43 - "We Are All Birds of Uganda" (Historical Fiction) by Hafsa Zayyan. 16:17 - "Where the Crawdads Sing" (Historical Fiction) by Delia Owens. 17:04 - "Factfulness: Ten Reasons We're Wrong About the World - and Why Things are Better Than You Think" (Non-Fiction/Self-Help) by Hans Rosling, Ola Rosling & Anna Rosling Rönnlund. 17:35 - "Empireland: How Imperialism Has Shaped Modern Britain" (Non-Fiction, Politics & History) by Sathnam Sanghera. 17:45 - "All My Puny Sorrows" (Contemporary Fiction) by Miriam Toews. 18:30 - "One Last Stop" (New Adult LGBT Romance) by Casey McQuiston. 18:59 - "Transcendent Kingdom" (Contemporary Adult Fiction) by Yaa Gyasi. 19:09 - "The Death of Vivek Oji" (Contemporary Adult Fiction) by Akwaeke Emezi. 19:18 - "Severance" (Science Fiction/Dystopia) by Ling Ma. Just in case you're wondering, the genre of each book is in the brackets. I also put some trigger warnings for two of the books - "The Girl With the Louding Voice" by Abi Daré and "Yolk" by Mary H.K. Choi - as these books contain heavy themes such as rape and eating disorders. Hopefully, this helps

@@Iza56 to be clear, I never said there aren't a lot of/enough female authors. I was more so talking about the fact that it is common for women's writing to be discredited as a result of gender biases in the publishing industry, as well as the attitudes towards women's intellectual capabilities. oh and, by the way, I do read books by female authors, and that is precisely why I made the comment - to encourage others to look into women's literature. thank you for your comment.

Also: Alice Oseman wrote the book "Radiosilence" which has LOT'S of really good LGBTQ+ rep but what made it special for me is that one of the main characters is demisexual. I thought I would let my fellow aces know😉💜🖤 (Triggerwarning: abusive parent-child relationships are discussed in this book)

Jack, for your words addressed to the novel Such a Fun Age - "It's one of those books where you forget that you're actually reading it, like there's a physical piece of paper and you're reading words. I don't know if that even makes sense", hear me say that anything that you find that leads you to books that almost seem to talk to you always makes sense. And thus, it absolutely does.

Jack! I'm (hopefully) going to uni in September so I picked up your book - a few pages in, I wasn't sure if it was all going to be relevant to me having already picked my course, but I was laughing so hard (think biting-on-my-mask, starting to cry, borderline-hyperventilating laughing) that I had to buy it before the people in the shop started giving me odd looks... I ended up finishing it in two days! You're the only KZbinr whose videos I genuinely laugh out loud at and that translates effortlessly into your writing - you're so bloody entertaining.
