The PS Vita was the most underrated, overdeveloped, and underestimated handheld device of its day. Honestly, these days, people buy these to mod, and my god, it's amazing. Plus, there is a community server with all the games from every region, so you can download games directly to the console. I bought the Vita 2000 a few weeks ago, and I love it.

i absolutely loved the PSP, but what actually shunned me the most with the Vita was the expensive memory cards back then and lack of third party support and exclusives. I love the Vita. The memory cards were definitely the biggest problem with the system with Sony’s lack of 1st party support being the second. I’m surprised it wasn’t mentioned that the Vita basically saw the rise of limited print game companies. Limited Run Games’ very first game was a Vita game after all, and while the business model at the time sucked (basically just fear of missing out stressfests) it helped build the Vita community, which is one of the best gaming communities I’ve ever had the pleasure to be a part of. Everyone is welcome on Vita Island. The Vita didn’t get a ton of games in the end but what’s there is great. The Vita will always remain one of my favorite gaming systems of all time and maybe not being super successful is part of that.

I love the PS Vita. Uncharted: Golden Abyss is still amazing for what it is, even if it has every gimmick known to man tied to it and is probably not possible to port to home consoles due to the reliance on the built in camera. Though one thing Austin didn't mention was that the PS Vita 2000 changed the charging port (or perhaps he did and I didn't pay attention?) - it was no longer proprietary. It was MicroUSB, making charging it way, way easier. OG Vita may have the OLED screen, but it has a connector that's rarer and rarer to find proper cables for. With the 2000, you can use any MicroUSB cable to charge it. That was one of the biggest reasons I got rid of my OG Vita and went with the 2000 model. It's a shame that the Vita was the last true portable gaming console for Sony... for now. I absolutely am not counting the Playstation Portal.

I actually got my Vita more out of curiosity than anything. Seven years later, I still love the thing. I like the Switch, but the Vita just works a lot better for me. I know when I got a Switch I was surprised that the Vita, despite being the older system, could do so much more. Web browser. Cameras(not that I use them much). They weren't that different graphically, and the Vita fit nicely in my pocket. The Switch, not so much. As much as I wish Sony would make another one, I think the Portal is as close as we'll get. So I'll just stick with my Vita.

It kinda started with the Atari Lynx in 1989. A semi-16 bit console with a color screen and sampled sound, with a crazy rom capacity for its time. What made it fail was its hefty price, plus the fact that you had to juice it up with expensive batteries after just 1.5 hours of gameplay while its much less complex Nintendo Gameboy easily could stretch you 25 hours of gameplay, albeit on a black yellow screen with crazy amounts of lag. The moral of the story is - it's not always about being technically superior, but the overall experience.

The PS Vita TV (or PS TV in the US) was a great idea with a very bad implementation. 1) No compatibility with most games on the PS Vita even though some of the games barely use any touch/gyro/camera feature, with some already have a way to be simulated. 2) Although no longer a battery powered device, it still couldn't clock at least 2x the speed so it can output at 720p with far better framerate 3) Not enough PS1 and PSP games in the store that user can enjoy on their TV 4) No internal upscaling for PS1 and PSP games even with the better hardware
