One of the keys to learning to live with and manage mental health is that it is not achieving your goals that is important, it is the way you approach life. What you measure success and failure on, how you judge yourself. IF you view is "to be happy i need to achieve X" then your never be happy the goal is alway moving. To quote Tavarish: ALWAYS make questionable choices. Buying a mildly crappy old Supra absolutely fits into that. Actually to be fair, it's a decent condition, low mileage Mk IV that hasn't been illicitly touched by a series of Chad's, aside from the Halford's wheels and that utter dustbin on the back, so it's a pretty decent buy actually. What ever else you, please, please keep the doorbell horn, because that is hilarious. As for a name: an old friend said you should see if the last 3 letters of the registration will make a name, (His car was 'JSN', so was called Jason). Apparently the name 'Hiko' (HKO) exists in Japanese and means 'Princess', so I vote that. And yes, I did spend FAR too long thinking about that, but a car has got to be named appropriately.

Your clutch pedal issue will be a leaky seal in the master cylinder. You could try to recondition it with a clutch kit, but realistically you're better off just replacing the whole cylinder altogether. I had the same problem with my ST-205 GT-FOUR, and my attempt at reconditioning only gave me six months before it failed again. On the plus side, once you can't disengage the clutch at all, you quickly get much better at rev matching (although having to use the starter motor to get yourself moving isn't ideal).

You did all of that in the past hour?? Okay, just kidding😆. Good on you. I live in America, where cars are a necessity, and I've owned many since I was 14, when I got my learner's permit. I was lucky enough to get my dad's old 92 Acura Integra, and unfortunately, I drove the nuts off of it, and I sold it after nearly killing it. I've just driven old Honda Accord's ever since, but I've been inspired to get a car that I can race. I thought of old MX5, but being 6'4", it's probably not the best fit, if you know what I mean. I'm looking into BMW's, and I'm thinking of making it into a rally car. We'll see where it leads. I do live 45 minutes away from a circuit, so I might make it a circuit racer instead. We'll see. But good luck with your MX5!
@jaimykok65332 жыл бұрын
@@hangingchad_I'm 6'4' and I did fit (sort of) in my NB, only heel-toeing was hard. installing a smaller wheel and fitting a fixed bucket would probably fix that too. A miata would be a much better track car, the lightweight aspect is so important when it comes down to cost and fun.

@@jaimykok6533 I have driven a few stock Miatas, and they were so much fun. But I've also driven an E36 BMW 328i that was set up for track use, and it was fantastic. It was incredibly well sorted, and as lightweight as possible, with a 50/50 weight balance, and a mostly stock engine, but unfortunately, my roommate bought it, and he's a drifter. He turned it into a drift car, and although it is a great car for what he's using it for, he more or less butchered it by putting an angle kit on it, and beating and banging with other drifters. I wish I had the money at the time that he bought it, since he got it for only $3000 (pre-pandemic). It would have been a great platform to build on for racing. I do think it would be cool to buy a Miata that is built for track use, and race it in a Miata series, but ever since I drove that E36 (before it was ruined...), I've been dying for one. But, because I'm interested in rallying, I think a BMW could be a good option for that, instead. Maybe I'll get a Miata for circuit racing, AND a car for rallying...🤔

It is shear stock and only had a new starter and alternator put in. Internals are fine, clutch is still stock (plenty of life left too) at 193,000kms, just the few seal leaks and visual issues with paint and body work. The NA had 2 versions, SZ and SZ-R the SZ is the one we both have 5 speed and the SZ-R is the 6 speed. (most games run the SZ-R. Look forward to seeing what you do, as someone who can''t afford to do what youre about to do. Jimmy I have a Supra too and the horn thing can be resolved. When you buy an NRG or Nardi wheel with a horn with quick release Kit, the horn wire on the steering wheel clock needs to be spliced with a copper piece of metal in contact with the horn ring. There's plenty of articles on the UK forum so any questions ask there for sure. The 5 speed is also a relatively weak box compared to the V161 with a weaker differential. Good luck with the car, can't wait to see what is done with it.

Jimmer, the non-VVTi 2JZ from the NA supras have the best flowing heads for higher horsepower applications. If you put a multilayer headgasket in it, the compression is the same as the turbo model AND you have bigger ports in the head for better flow once turbo is installed. I'm currently getting a touch under 500hp at the wheels with this setup on a baby 40mm turbo....is maximum torque from 3000rpm. The diff and w58 gearbox won't tolerate much more than 400hp though so take it easy unless putting in a V160 or even an R154 in (they fit if you have the right extension for the shifter mount). A supra with good suspension and tyres and a small turbo for mid-range goodness will be a weapon on the track even at 350-400hp. Love your work, Jimmer, can't wait to see what happens with it.

As yours is a N/A you will have a open diff in the rear end so i would look into getting a LSD-swap, cheapest is to get a TT 200mm diff. For chassie upgrades you could probably get some Nice HKS coilovers, do a big brake kit in the front and chassi brace front and rear. More longterm is polybushes and adjustable arms.. Enginewise id say, get N/A-T kit, throw some rods, a TT headgasket, aftermarket ecu and be done with it. The W58 transmission is not the best i would say.. Most people would do the R154 from the mk3 supra swap, there are good upgrade kits for them out there.. Looking forward to your content on the supra!

I get old school Top Gear vibes from these types of videos, Jimmer. This is exactly the type content that I've subscribed for.

@Jimmy I've watched you sim racing for 7 or 8 years and I assure you that EVERYONE is thrilled to see you being able to make content like this. You could quit sim racing entirely and we still won't miss an upload.

This is literally my dream! Been wanting a Supra since the first F&F came out. Now I’m 28 and prices are getting more and more ridiculous, I guess I’ll live it through you for now 😄

Found your channel when we were all stuck inside during the pandemic and I was on furlough, nice to see you expanding the content outside as life returns towards normal, looking forward to the build and more content of this nature.

This is _exactly_ the content I‘m subscribed for. Your AC videos would have continued to pop up in my feed. These real life car videos are gold nuggets. Thank you for sharing!

Hey Jimmy two major things to check on the supra is the diff mount as they perish badly and the mental brake lines just as they go over the rear subframe (passenger side) for corrosion. If you need parts check out garage whifbitz they have everything you need for a supra.

I originally subscribed for the sim stuff (because when I subscribed, that was all the content there was), but I really really like your real life stuff a lot!

Step 1: Remove 2JZ - GE Step 2: Insert 2JZ-GTE Step 3: Upgrade to UK spec brakes Step 4: Upgrade the Suspension Step 5: Change Exhaust (Blitz Nur Spec R or HKS Ti) Step 6: Change the Wheels Step 7: Respray Can also upgrade the clutch and other components, maybe some new seats :D

Proud Of You Jimmer!!!! I’ve been working on my mental health for quite sometime now and I can’t even describe how much you have helped me out, glad to see that you’re happy!❤️

Hey Jimmy, good find. Having done this myself a number of times, the absolute first thing I would do is to get it on a lift and check all the suspension bushings. After that many years, some of them are bound to be dry rotting. Fix the brakes and find the oil leaks. Just don't go nuts with Delrin bushings or Heim joints when replacing stuff. That will make it uncomfortable and noisy more than your exhaust cannon. It's a slippery slope once you get on it. Enjoy it and looking forward to content on your experience. As for a name, you can call it the Silver Pike.

The atmo 2J is still pretty capable, even if you do a turbo setup with the stock motor. The 5 speed is notorious for not liking too much torque however.

I've been building supras for 20 years and currently hold the Rwd half mile record in the UK in one. Its absolutely crazy how fast you can make one go. Stock crank holds 1400hp When there done correctly there an awesome bit of kit. Do it wrong there just shit lol. 😂😜

That's actually a good buy considering the plans for it. Turf the wheels, tidy up the body, do a measured turbo build, and hone the sus/brakes. Job done.

Props for going to Kent for anything, never mind a shed of a car….Kent is a pain in the arse to get to from everywhere, including most of Kent.

This may not be the content i subscribed to years ago, but it's definitely the sort of content I would want to watch! Keep up the good work! And about the car, why not put in a roll cage/half cage? It's still fine for road use and it increases the rigidity of the car and makes it safer on track.

Jimmy I doubt that you will ever read this but you really keep my hopes up when it comes to fighting in my daily life. Someone said "cars won't make you happy" but here you are, proving me that this is just wrong. You make me want to sometimes get up in the mornings so I can eventually become as great of a person as you are. Thank you very much for everything you've been doing over these years and I hope to see much more of your content both irl and simracing related
