Jimmy this might be your best video yet. I love that you included the out lap when trying the new suspension and included you feeding back with the mechanics, and btw those guys are sound too. I love watching the reality of the process. You're not dramatising it or making it into something it isn't. Nothing is made in vanity and you can really tell your content is coming from a good place. It's sincere, authentic, humble and it is what it is. I love that. The journey is just really cool to watch and in ways I/we get to be part of it which is just so jeffin cool to me. You're making this world feel very accessible, coming from someone who hasn't even made it to sim pleb, let alone real racing pleb.. I drive in real life though and I'm a programmer so I earn a bit of money, I know a bit about cars and racing but I otherwise wouldn't really be motivated to start. Actually before watching you, I probably wouldn't have known where to start at all I think. Been watching for like yeeeears now it feels, probably since like 2017, when I literally was just a pleb.. I think I might have vicariously become a race driver through you loool.. Anyways, thought I'd write this for the sake of user feedback if not for anything else, but much respect to you and great video 👍

@dbracer2 жыл бұрын
You really can't tell just how steep a downhill it is from Paddock Hill Bend until you go there. I don't think either sims or videos really give you a true feeling for it. In a low track car you can't see the corner apex until after you've committed to turning in, so it's a huge leap of faith. Might be a bit easier in a road car, or on a bike with the higher viewpoint. The compression at the bottom of the hill also isn't something you're going to grasp in a sim, either.

That looks so fun on a bike!!! There's a track here in Texas that has some fun elevation change for bikes.

Love all the car content. I think what makes your supra journey most unique is that your entire background. Jimmy started in a shed, playing sim racing. Then Jimmy moved out of the shed, became an actual driver whos actually not bad at racing IRL. Now Jimmy has added to making his own track car. Its not about the content, its about watching the Jimmy journey from shed sim racer, to full blown racer who is actually good at sim racing too. Just dont bin this Supra...

Point 1 on the old sim white board is "Share your passion". Point 2 is "Enjoy yourself". If the irl track-day stuff is part of your passion and you enjoy doing it Jimmy, share it and you'll find plenty of people are here for it just as much as we are for the sim and irl racing. I know there's lots of a jokes about the Supra, but to be honest it's a manual gearbox'd Mk IV Supra that looks completely bone stock, aside from the ACE wheels and door bell (Which better still be there!), so I'm genuinely impressed, there can't be many Mk IV's left that haven't been touched inappropriately by some chad who barely knows how to hold a spanner.

Looks tidy around there fella! Most underrated chassis out there, especially in the UK. The Supra is so known for big bhp numbers and straight line speed that no one (especially people that have never driven one) gives it credit. Tbh if the car isn’t tired and dead ie without dead tyres and suspension etc they are brilliant! Great to see another MKIV out on track. Little turbo on it and jobs a good un, doesn’t have to be big hp but this could be a weapon 🙌👍

Your clutch issue reminds me of my first car (1980 BMW 323i, bought in 1999 for $800). The return spring on the clutch was knackered, so you had to pull the pedal back up with your toes. Which is why I always had to drive with my left shoe off.
@joshg11042 жыл бұрын
I don't like being the "ackchyually" guy but, adjusting ride height via the spring perch is actually the correct way. It's more important to have the bump stops working at the right part of the wheel travel/suspension stroke - this is what the "base height" adjustment is there for. There's a good write up somewhere on the MCA suspension site explaining why this is important :) I think Driftworks have covered it in some of their vids, too.

A long time since I had my NZ Supra, but it was a lot of fun. Fortunately an RZ came up and I made the upgrade. Certainly no argument about investing in good wheels and suspension before doing anything else. Brakes (fluids/pads/discs) are consumables and get done regularly, especially if driving hard on a track. Enjoy.
