I BOUGHT the CHEAPEST "FERRARI" in the Country!

We are welcoming a new car to the Shmeemobiles! This might be a little bit of a surprise, in fact it is the smallest "Ferrari" ever... and the first car I've ever bought at an auction. Always with a soft spot for the unusual, rewind back 15 years and I was a big fan of these, now here it is in my garage!

In recent years I've bought a few cars that are throwbacks to cars I owned earlier in my life; from a Clio V6 that I bought in 2022 as the flagship of my original 1.2 Clio, to a BMW 1M I bought in 2023 to follow from my 123d. For 2024, we're throwing back to an Abarth 595C Turismo that I'd owned in the early days of the Shmee150 channel, with one of the rarest versions that was ever made.
Believe it or not, earlier this year I came upon an advert for a specific car and wrote a message to video editor Brad pondering if we could ever find that exact one, well fast forward a few months and up it popped on Collecting Cars for an online auction! Naturally, this had to happen, and although I was away from home at the time the auction ended, I wanted to share this experience, as the first time I've ever bought a car from auction.

Fast forward, and you join us for collection day. After installing a tow hook on the Transit Custom MS-RT that we run as our team car, we're collecting a trailer from GT Towing for the journey up north to reveal my new purchase; a Fiat 500 Abarth Ferrari Dealer Edition! Unknown to most, and often confused with the Abarth 595 Tributo Ferrari, there were actually only 200 Dealer Editions ever made, which were first used at Ferrari dealers themselves as courtesy cars during service etc.
My specific car is number 200 out of 200, and it was first sold by Dick Lovett Ferrari Swindon - yes, these were only retailed at Ferrari dealerships, making it not only one of the most unusual, but also rarest cars ever sold by Ferrari. Finished in Rosso Corsa, and armed with Scuderia Racing stripes, it absolutely looks the part and even more so equipped with a manual gearbox, the special white bucket seats, and number plaque to confirm the model. While the majority of the 200 cars were regular Fiat 500s, a total of approx 68 of them are Abarth variants, many of which you can find on ECR: exclusivecarregistry.com/mode...

Fun fact: there was another Abarth courtesy car edition based on the 695 Biposto, called the Rosso Oficine and painted in Rosso Corsa too. iirc only 99 exist.

Brought my wife for Christmas a 695 Tributo Ferrari...lol. carbon bits etc. engine remapped. Carbon fiber everywhere. Forged intercooler. Uprated pulleys. Forged actuator. Got it to 245 bhp from the 180 hp 1.4. she was made up. Went out Christmas morning in her pjs. I hid it in the garage and she thought it was a red truck V8 as the record Monza exhaust is mental 😂😂😂😂😂😂. Great video.

looks absolutely lovely! brings back great memories of my 2012 Fiat 500 Pop, finished in a similar shade of red. The previous owner put these same Scuderia Stripes on it, and I planned to get rid of them, but they grew on me and ended up becoming one of my favorite parts of the car. Not as sporty as an Abarth, but just as silly and fun to own.
