I highly appreciate how honest you guys were with the whole build... so frustrating being an average Joe doing your own rebuild and wondering why everything isn't turning out perfect like in all the KZbin videos. Reality of the situation is those builds weren't perfect either, it's just that they don't show the imperfections for one reason or another. Your experience with aftermarket fairings for example was classic lol. Been there done that and will probably be there and do that again! I'm not paying as much as the bike value for OEM but you just have to expect broken clips, paint issues, etc and roll with it.

Good video guys. I really thought, Sean you were going to say I don't really know how to repair bikes, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express one time in college. You have actually taken 100 bikes apart. Well now I understand why whenever you get any bike problems more serious than basic maintenance, all we hear is HEY CRAIG. You have to get Craig a cape with a giant C on the front and a mask. Have him kinda jump into the shot everytime you call HEY CRAIG I NEED YOU. You are beyond lucky to have a friend like Craig with all that knowledge. It's a great trade-off with you guys. You two are probably going to be friends for life. I think most of the videos that are the kind that makes people laugh until they pee their pants are the ones with you and Craig only. You two just are naturally very funny together. Craig is a great straight man and you are the jokester. Perfect duo for great comedy because it's really natural and not forced. You both are definitely in your element. Keep up the great work guys!!!!!

@doktermobiel2 жыл бұрын
The only way to get the skills is by doing it. I've learned it by getting written off 80's stuff (if it failed, I'd get the scrap price for it still and not lose a bunch of money on it) and disassemble , replace or fix and assemble again. After two fails I learned from my mistakes and upped it a step at a time. It's very satisfying to learn tinkering and be able to fix things yourself.

The bolts that hold the ignition lock on are known as a "shear bolt", they have 2 tricks up their sleeve. 1. When they get tighten, they have a standard hex on the top and are designed to shear off at a specific torque setting, so you know when the hex head snaps off it is up to torque. 2. Is kinda obvious, since the bolt head shears off there is no easy way of getting the bolts out. I've grown up with a locksmith and I've found there are 2 main ways of removing them. First is a punch with a sharp point with blunt angle and a decent hammer, finding the right angle on the bolt if the part you'll have to figure out by yourself. Second is if you have the space, use a dremil/rotary tool with their mini cut off wheel, a long with a impact hammer screwdriver. Cut a slot into the head of the bolt and make sure you get a decent depth or it's just going to round. Hope you get the oil leak sorted.
@treeguyable2 жыл бұрын
Used those breakaway bolts on ignition switches, like 40 yrs ago at the car dealership. Back then, it was cheaper to just cut the bolts with a grinder, possibly the lock housing, and replace the whole switch, if needed, was cheaper most of the time, if fussing around with the bolts would take too long.

I love your show. After watching nearly a hundred of your episodes, I can say with confidence that you are clearly a quality human being with a huge heart, strong integrity, wonderful sense of humor and a high level of humility. Because of your disclosure about having more experience taking bikes apart than putting them together;.... As a builder , mechanic, and rider of 47 years, I have often been humbled by similar struggles and the knowledge that many things are made much easier once you know the tricks that come from experience or from those who are willing to share it. If I may humbly suggest that you watch a few episodes of your compatriot KZbin channel " RK Motorsports" . Also a man of professional integrity and a strong work ethic. He does nothing but KZbin videos chronicling crashed sports bike rebuilds. Usually 20 minutes per bike with a lot of time laps. He seems to have great success putting most of the body work on "one panel at a time" rather then trying to pre-assemble them in sub sections as you seemed to struggle with. They seem to go on much easier one piece at a time and you don't have to be an octopus once the bike is holding the parts in place for you. Keep up the good and entertaining work Sir. In fact, As I finish this, I see that he ( RK Motorsports ) also commented. Thanks to you all for all the entertaining content created on behalf of the rest of us lazy bastards that can barely find time to ride because we are so busy sitting on our asses watching you getting it done.

I don't think I've ever seen this much of a current GSXR 6 frame. The lines of it are quite nice. I think Suzuki could have done more with the body work that matched the line/and shapes of the frame to make the bike look more distinctive. That said, this model looks pretty nice with just the upper fairing. I wonder if a GSXS 750 is coming that uses more of this frame with a more robust subframe.

did the exact same thing on a 06 Busa- had a crash ( not me, a"friend") and replaced all plastic with a Chinese after-market kit. Terrible! holes didn't line up, and those screw towers on the inside were so thin, even the super crapy tiny screws provided would crack them leaving you to replace the ferring completely or come up with a workaround, which never lasts and you end up replacing it anyway. Meanwhile, you are on a ride, and your tail light is flopping around being held on by the wires. Massive headache. Spend the $, it's worth it. One man's opinion, I hope you guys had better results.

If the oil looks like it is leaking from the bottom phillips head screw of the waterpump, then swap the waterpump. The waterpump has a weeping hole on the bottom it is hard to see with the pump on the bike. When one of the internal seals goes bad the weeping hole will leak coolant or oil to prevent the pump from accidently mixing the two. I am currently waiting for mine to come in the mail haha. could be something else but might save you some time

Just an FYI, the oil leak is probably a little shaft that goes into the motor where the shifter is. When you're changing sprockets you can just pull it out and back in again but after that it leaks like hell. The fix is to add some grease to it as you slide it back in. Completely works as long as you don't pull it out again which you never really need to do changing sprockets or not. I guess I was just curious when I pulled it out, which I didn't need to do. You might want to check this out.
