For a long time, we used to have the Bombardier snow plows clearing the snow off the sidewalks here in Ottawa, Ontarion, Canada. They were built by Bombarier Inc. a company started by Joseph-Armand Bombardier just outside of Montreal, Quebec. He is most famous for inventing the snow mobile, which he ended up calling Ski-doo, because of a misprint. It was supposed to be Ski-Dog, to connect it to Dog Sleds that were famously used by the Inuit and other Northern Peoples of Canada.

I can guarantee you that if you continue to drive it the way you are in this video it will be nothing but a paper weight before too long. It's built for pushing snow, nothing else. The inline 6 cylinder isn't a high rev engine and when it's combined with a low geared transmission makes it that much easier to blow up. Take good care of It $$$$

That's cool. And just so you know, that 250 I-6 can run between 195 to 220 degrees. If it runs at 150 degrees then it's running extra cool. If you ever change the engine's thermostat maybe you should put a 180-degree thermostat in it.

@davidshepherd-sj2tj
@davidshepherd-sj2tj 5 ай бұрын
REV limiter ????? Lol !! That old man would be wishing that thing has a rev limiter when he watches this video w this guy grinding gears , and what ur thinking was a. " rev limiter" was actually him " floating" the valves on that old straight six , which is what happens when u push a motor with hydraulic lifter way past it's intended. " red line" as this is when the valves due to cam lift and duration , which of course is engineered for low end torque in a , for all practical purposes " tractor engine" which is ment to turn low revs and produce as much torque as possible between 2,000 to tops 2800 rpm, is over revved to the point the valves can no longer either completely shut or completely open do to the high rpm, and high oil pressure caused from over revving, and because they no longer have time to completely move through their range of travel, for all practical purposes sit in the middle of their range of travel and just " FLOAT" definitely NOT something i can almost assure you ...... That the old man that rebuilt this machine would have EVER DREAMED of doing to his pride and joy !! Nor would anybody in their right mind do to something that they had invested that much money and energy into !!! But unfortunately for the cool snow machine ..... It has a new owner who thinks it's intended purpose is to be a tracked hot rod , for which it appears to him to have been built solely to see how much abuse and neglect it can take before it can no longer keep its tracks under its carriage, or possibly drivetrain before it haphazardly has no choice but to spit out pieces of said drivetrain all over its , backwoods racetrack .... So unfortunately for the old man and the old machine , it's new owner apparently finds pushing this cool old machine to its mechanical limits for his .... And to be fair our entertainment.... Or horror ig, depending on just how emotionally attached one may find themselves to an old snow machine..... Lol kinda sux to see such a kewl machine pushed towards these ends, but on the other hand. .. if it's going to happen..... At least he's recording it and I must say it's good entertainment either way to me ... Ig id rather be a witness to how much abuse this old machine could take before she explodes, then to have it happen, without all of us here to witness and share in the carnage 🫣🤐😂

Very cool find, and in remarkable condition considering these lead pretty tough lives. Those used to be the standard issue sidewalk plows for any city I lived in growing up in the 70s-80s. Over time they were replaced with Trackless units which were a bit more versatile as they could be used in summer with different attachments like mowers and such. The Bombis were surprisingly quick, and could pretty much keep up with city surface traffic when going to or from the maintenance depots.

Before I watch this new one, I've got a couple of questions: Why no video on the paving of the driveway? I thought the reason you bought the skid loader was to make a track at your property. Then we see you rented it out for crops again. Why no Jade in your videos anymore? When are you going to build a pole barn? In the meantime, what do you do with all of these toys? I see a lot of them in the garage but there's nowhere near enough room for all the ones we've seen. Do you sell them?

Wow, that's the quickest Dozer I ever saw. nice. Only problem is that besides a good clean there's nothing to fix. Watch your track tension, don't throw a track pulling too tight.

Enjoyed your presentation. As someone who has several pieces of tracked equipment, including a snow cat I've used for transportation for over 15 years in the Rocky Mountains, I have 2 points to offer: First, speed wears tracks out at a rate commensurate to the square of the function. Second, operating the tracks on surfaces other than that intended by design (in this case snow) will shorten your track life significantly. It's fun, I know but trust me, track rebuilds suck!

This looks like a similar version of the Bombardier from Matts off road recovery although this one is mint and not modded lol. Interesting project!

I seen one of these in saint Louis Missouri on Facebook. It had a 300 6 cylinder in it. A great engine. Looked just like this one

The town had one, it was a make work project. The Dept. of Public Works spent the summer repairing the damage it had done.

Excellent bit of kit! You'll be able to use that to level out the tracks and make burms n bumps n jumps 👌
