Just so you know(if you dont already), when the bowl is off the carb you are looking at 2 round disks. Those are welsh plugs and normally you would take those out to clean underneath. Usually there's a passage way under them. They are soft metal and are tap in one use plugs. There can easily be dirt in there

I have one of these sitting in a garage for 40+ years and some parts as my did used to be a dealer for them in PA. They used them at local ski mountains to haul heavy loads up the mountain. Cool to see you work on one because I've thought about taking a stab at getting it running for a long time now.

So glad the last month or so you’ve switched to different machines. I love quads and bikes just as much as you, but it was definitely time to expand knowledge and skill. Hell yeah brother. im from quebec and have been into offroad machines for 30+ years and have never seen one of these machines super rare,most have probably been destroyed
@billybrand

@@ginomanshit2365 What happened was that the company moved from ValQuartier, Québec to Alberta. Later it was purchased by an American company. By the 1980's there were copies made of these machines like Playcat™ and RaidTrack. Other machines like the TerraJet, the Argo and Honda three wheelers came out too. So there was a lot of competition.

That thing is cool for sure 2vintage. Consider restoring fully restoring it, and/or also consider restomodding it...newer low-back bucket seat, low profile steel cleats on the tracks for more traction, a lightweight firewall between driver and engine, a low profile Lexan snowmobile style windshield, nice headlights and add a small light bar on the hood, a new stainless full exhaust routed to the rear to quiet it down and not have exhaust smoke, make a quick-removeable rear seat and also a quick cargo rack that mounts the same way, paint it nice (maybe camo), etc. With steel cleats on the tracks that thing will go where 4-wheel ATV's can't go without getting stuck...and it sure seems to have plenty of power, the seller said it can tow heavy things so it must have a lot of torque as well. It's a keeper no matter what just because it is a mini tank that is fast and fun to ride/drive.

Just a tip on plugs , run Bosch plugs , no NGK , OR ND. And run a medium heat range , and use a good quality synthetic 2 stroke oil . The 399 CCW is a high preformence engine . In the course of restoring the engine , replace the carb diaphragm kit , clean the jet orifices o rings and gaskets , and replace fuel pump Diaphrams . pull the flywheel and replace the points after setting the gap , and replace the condenser . Make sure that you have an inline fuel filter that is also a water excluding model that you can unscrew to clean if it clogs . And don't run the starter so long you can overheat it. And purchase an engine Manul . You don't need to pull the clutch to replace a belt . First make sure that the driven pullet is properly lubed so that the sheaves slide freely ,then you pull th belt till the belt is in bottom of sheave and it slips over the clutch and make sure that all of the track boggie bearings are greased

I also tried to buy a Idk if u know what a log skidder is but it articulates in the middle. This was a tiny fit in full size truck bed sized tractor that did same. Front was engine and rear was seat. Guy wouldn't sell it and when he died it was auctioned off. I've only seen 1 in 40 years. Idk who made it. I love small projects like these. Do you still have it? How'd it hold up if so?

A highschool friend of mines dad was a dealer for them in Flint Michigan... They also raced them and modified one with foam flotation, added small aluminum pieces on the track and a bilge pump and got it to go in water... The one story I vividly remember is when they were stopped by the Michigan state police on the way home from a race event and asked to volunteer to use their " snowmobile" along with about 5- 6 other snowmobilers to rescue someone from a small plane crash way back in the woods in winter. They told the Police they didn't have a snowmobile they had something BETTER... All the Snowmobiles broke down or got blocked by brush or downed trees the PASSE PAR TOUT WENT OVER OR THRU EVERYTHING...The Police were mightly impressed... He had lots of other stories about racing them... I only rode on one once for a demo ride at their shop 4 people in it and went over the top( thru ) a large bush about 4 foot tall impressed the hell out of me. I really wanted one but I was still in HS.

That is a great machine. I would like to see what it will go through in summer. Pretty soon your gonna have to build a big shed. Did you ever consider buying an old mini bike frame and putting a motor/clutch/brakes and such on it. Great channel.

Passe Partout, pronounced paspertoo, it means 'all purpose' in Cajun French

Passe partout would be Pass-Par-Too and would mean "goes everywhere". Literal translation "passes everywhere". It would also be Quebec french.

Hey that's great you got the old girl running. Back in the day there were some great and innovative machines on the market. When I was in middle school I remember this machine was being tested by Mechanix Illustrated or Popular Mechanics in a 6 or 8 machine shootout. My guess that would've been 1968 or 1969.
