I think if the parts aren't cost prohibitive to the point that you'd struggle to get your money back out of it, fixing it up so that some smaller company would be able to afford it would be the best way to go. For some little company that can't afford the price tag of the newer and bigger machines, this might be the perfect solution for them.

Good runner, computer works, I would take care of the slop and find another cylinder and sell it to a landscaping company that is starting out.
@oneeyedjack4727
@oneeyedjack4727 Жыл бұрын
Do you have another bucket that would fit? If you do, change it, fix the cylinder and the leaks along with servicing it. It may be ugly, but most landscape and grading companies aren't interested in looks. They want a good running machine for reasonable cost.

I think an old pre-emissiions machine should be rebuilt at least to a functional, usable condition and kept in service. If I was in the diggin' business, I would prefer it.

It all depends on what you paid for her, and what the potential worth is at the end. You have most , if not all the skills needed at the shop. And a lot of parts. Get the thumb and bucket rehabbed , or potentially find a better used setup. Clean the whole beast up, especially the cab. Give it a good cleaning and a quick paint job and see how much you can make. I'de like to follow along, I'm sure many others would too !

I think the old girl still has some life left in her. The major parts are the swing and the undercarriage. She sounds great, depending on what you paid for her, a little TLC would make her great for a farmer or some of the sort. Besides, the slop in the boom is about the same as you'd get out of a new JCB. Man, those things have the slop factory built!

Keep it running. There's no sense to make another machine live when this machine still has life in it. I have NO idea what the costs would be for the parts to get her back, but the scuffs she's got on the doors. Considering the few leaks she has, I've seen cars with less years piss more fluids out in a month than this thing seems to have in its life time. The stuff at the end of the arm, the bushings, and such, you're in a scrap yard, so there's probably parts already laying around, or something could be either fabricated, or easy enough to get from other wreckers in the area that deal with this kind of equipment specifically. Since she runs well, and she still is agile, and most of the problems lie at the end of the arm, I'd look at just tightening up the bolts and cleaning up the leaks.

Your going to go the fastest return regardless of our opinions. My first impression is a good running older machine, pre def days, with just tons of potential. Paint and polish will fix most cosmetics, glass is reasonable, you find most of the needed parts for doors and panels to make it a better looking machine. With it being hard times on many small companies, it would be a godsend to those who need a smaller machine for demo work and loading trucks. I think labor is your biggest factor as you don't do any of the major building of any equipment.... your the fix a leak or replace hoses, twist a wire kind of guy. I took a lot older machines like these and built everyday working machines, they got another ten years out of them before the costs of upkeep sent them to the scrap piles

That thing had to of been at a scrap yard or a garbage dump, they are the only ones that can ruin machines like that . I didn't catch the hours but I would guess easily over 10k on it , although it's pre emissions and that makes it desirable , the amount it would cost you to get that reliable enough for you to sell without feeling guilty you would never get your money back unfortunately your going to have to part her out
