so, I am not a huge reader but in summer i decided that I would read a few minutes before going to bed! I started with just reading for 10 minutes, then 10 pages and now just how long I want to, and it really helped me get better sleep most of the time! Normally I read a lot of manga but before bed I read actual novels and basically anything my friends recommend 🤣Still a slow ready, but I read overall 15 books this year! (Including graphic novels and manga) and I'm very proud of myself! My goal is just to keep reading and it's already so much fun and part of my bedtime routine that I usually look forward to going to bed 🤍🤍

I used to be a really avid reader when I was younger (I have memories of going "oh, just 10 more minutes" only for my parents to find me up and reading still at 3am on a school night), but after some big health struggles it was like my brain just, couldn't handle it anymore. The desire was clearly there because I'd keep buying books I found interesting and searching around the library, but I just couldn't seem to read them. But this year I started having a bit of success again finally, I've managed to read 3 books (the difference seems to be in letting myself write notes on the book as I read). It's not a lot, but I'm still really pleased. All this talk of having book goals and making a counter or having a habit of reading at bedtime sounds like some good ideas to me to help me keep going. I'd love to read 15 books in a year, that sounds awesome.

@@auramire6304 i totally get that, i just feel like reading doesn't just come as naturally to me as it did when i was a kid. i still read a lot, but i can never get that feeling of being competely sucked in by the story, or it happens once every 50 books or so. if anyone has any tips on how to get that feeling again, please share!

I haven't read many actual print books in a while, but I do read some web comics for about 20 minutes before bed. It's just easier to do when I'm feeling tired and can't fully focus.

I like to think the typewriter is there because of a plot-twist. When the Uncle failed to kill the King properly, the evil man was so frustrated and furious about being pardoned for his crimes that he got himself turned into a vampire to harass his nieces (the next Heir was a Queen and by golly was she not going to give up her throne to anyone she married) and then their future descendants. The guy just refused to leave the castle altogether so at some point the new generations of the royal family left instead. After the monarchy was dissolved and the estate became a museum against his wishes, the Evil Uncle still lives there. He just sleeps in the coffin that didn't end up being a haughty maniacally laughing over his crimes gift that he wanted to give to his departed brother. So it's haunted by centuries of this family legacy and then this one bumbling villain vampire. And he continues using his old room during the day, writing his memoirs and throwing darts at his brother's portrait. He encourages other Sims to play against him because he's gotten really good at it lol.
@MARlPOSA2 күн бұрын
wait this is sucha good storyline
@DoveJS2 күн бұрын
@@MARlPOSA Thanks! I just built on what LilSimsie gave me lol. Also in hindsight, it'd be funny if his brother's ghost was so good-natured he'd offer to throw darts with him. Then the evil vampire would sulk until their ghost mother told them to make-up, getting him so angry he'd go vent to Vlad who is honestly sick of him but has no one else who can stand him (hissss) so Vlad is actually super jealous of Evil Uncle for having such a mostly understanding and loving family. Edits for clarity.

I have always loved to read. When I was growing up, there was a tree in the neighbors yard that I would climb and hide in with a book so I could read uninterrupted for hours and spy on the other kids (snicker). I used to check out stacks, and stacks of books from the library. I remember the librarian doubting I'd read all the books and so she would quiz me. Oh how I enjoyed proving a cranky adult wrong. LOL My Kindle, that I originally didn't want, has actually turned into my favorite thing because I can ALWAYS find something to read and I can STILL check books out from the library.

I read comics and I count every issue as a read book, so I read almost 400 books lol Excluding individual comics I read about 30 books this year. Some large collected comics but mostly regular books in audio form. My favorite book I read this year isn't finished yet, but it's The Deviant comic series. Kind of a true crime inspired mystery series about a killer who dresses like Santa. But it's actually about homophobia, and how it's trauma lingers and effects generations. It's so well written, I can't even explain why without just telling the whole story. The final issue comes out in February and I'm dying to figure out who the killer is and how the story wraps up.

I love that Lilsimsie is a reader. I'm a reader too (although I don't keep track of the number of books I've read.) I read a variety of things from mysteries (currently reading the Mrs. Murphy series by Rita Mae Brown, and my "car book" is Les Miserable, the book the musical was based on), history books and medical books (as I'm a retired pediatrician. I'm currently reading a really cool book about genetics and epigenetics that a Pathologist friend of mine gave me recently. Fascinating!)

If you want recommendations, I reread Monstrous Regiment this year! Technically it is part of the Discworld series, but it’s a standalone story so you don’t need to have read any of the other books to understand what’s going on. It’s *incredibly* funny, but also a really thoughtful anti-war novel with a side order of genderfluidity. There’s a limit to how much I can even say about it without going into spoiler territory haha, but just… gah, it’s so good.

If I had to guess, I probably did 200 or so total. Any amount of reading is awesome, though! Congrats to everyone who hit their goals!!!

Your builds are so cool! I love putting your vids on to build to. I hope you build a roller rink someday, I'd love to see it. I can't find an 80s style skate rink anywhere on the gallery and would love to see your version of one.

I know it’s such a random idea but you should have like a 2024 wrapped, with your gallery builds (a little bit like the spotify wrapped, because that was a trend to do it with everything) because I think it would make for an interesting video! Like you would have like how many castles you built, is the blue suburban the type of build you built the most? Which pack is the most used throughout your builds this year? Which pack did you avoid the most this year? Etc.

right after you mention "the evil uncle" it immediately reminded me of Scar from the Lion King story arc! Great build as always!

Wow, that's a ton of books! I'm also an avid reader! I set a goal at the beginning of the year to read one book a week, and I actually just finished number 57 about an hour ago 😊

I love when you are doing long speed vids, like up to one hour❤ I often listen to you or Watch when I’m playing sims my self or have cozy time!❤

Reading 110 books in a year is amazing! I got into reading regularly this year and managed to finish 21 books (22 if I actually finish my current read before the new year). My goal was originally 12 so I’m super happy I beat it 🥰

I just finished my 12th book today! The first half of this year I wasn't reading that much, so I kind of don't count those first few months. So I am pleased ^^

The addition of the radio is giving Downton Abbey and I love it.

you should talk more about books, maybe even consider making some videos about it! I'm curious about what you've read and kind of books you like. I mainly read romance and fantasy and I've read 37 books this year so far :)

OK, so this is when I probably should have waited to the end to leave a comment but you did say chat about books so I wanna say that I read two books. I think you’d actually really enjoy one. I just finished called “The secret book of Flora Lea” by Patti Callahan Henry and it was so beautiful! My other book recommendation is “The frozen River” by Ariel Lawhorne - with your love for snow it’s definitely a read. You should have enjoyed probably in December but it’s a historical fiction. Both books are historical fiction actually but the frozen river is different because the secret book of Flora Lee is like a fairytale and a historical event collide! As for how much this castle that you’re building costs I’m gonna say the end product is $400K

yay let's talk about books! I'm so curious to hear more about your reader self! I've only read 20 this year, which made me quite sad. my goal was 40 but deep down I was aiming for 50. unfortunately life got in the way but it's okay, I'm hoping for a better reading year in 2025!

i'm not a big reader like my mom are sister are, but my goal is to read all of my books by next summer! i started with one book on audiobook in the spring and have listened to/read seven other books this year. i own about 140 books and several of those are comics, so i plan to keep listening to novels on audiobook and reading the rest in print so i can donate them in time to redo my room next summer :)
