We took all your suggestions and build the ultimate Tree Top Truck Treehouse on a budget! We outfitted the tree house with Bass Pro Cabela's BBQ, outdoor furniture, thermacell, coffee percolator, and more.
We build a massive wrap around deck, outfit it with emergency fire pole, and slide, full BBQ, outdoor seating, and so much more.
the van camper meets it's final resting spot - high up in the trees! We convert a high mileage van into the perfect tree top truck redneck treehouse. This thing has everything!
We convert a high mileage Dodge Caravan into a wood stove heated stealth minivan camp and boondock. This stock dodge caravan is the perfect car to convert into a stealth camper because it looks completely ordinary from the outside and will not raise any suspicion at all.
We tear out all the original seats except for the drivers seat, install some unique and completely free custom wood floors, add a table, bed, shelves, and battery to power all the lights and appliances to keep us comfortable while camping out wherever the road takes us.
We tear out the engine, and all the excess weight, and lift the van way up high into the trees to enjoy and overnight in the woods.
I start the adventure with bringing everyone up to speed on the van build and show you how I put the entire stealth van together. I'll show you how to build a bed, install the fireplace, and rig up the solar panels. I then take the van on a test drive around the city and pick up overnight supplies from Walmart, and hit the fast food joints for some coffee and snacks. I then find a nice quiet spot down by the river to camp out overnight to get the full van life experience!

"Self-Reliance" is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his own instincts and ideas. This channel will approach self reliance from a modern perspective. and will focus on various build projects using modern amenities, and tools to build a completely self reliant lifestyle.
Many people ask me where I am from and where I film my projects. I am from Northern Ontario, Canada, and live in an area where off-grinding is easy because I have lots of land to build on and experiment with different buildings and materials. Everything I do is to try to be more self reliant, and to depend less on others. But that doesn't mean I don't like working together with other people on projects. Knowing people who have skills is part of being self reliant, and trading skills is a great way to get more things done!

My vision of what i wanted to build was with a TV screen for the front window, so you could sort of be sitting in a car /bench seat front or in the back of a wagon bed style and watch a movie like a drive in, in the sky/woods. Glad i at least lived long enough to see someone do something like it. Thanks guys

I have to admit, I thought the entire concept of a "van tree house" was ridiculous. But the more it comes along I find myself increasingly liking just how unique the aesthetic is.

Now you need a pulley system to haul your wood up to your storage area under hood, I know you’ve got some old treasures somewhere around to do that. I’m sharing with all my friends. Or use a wench to move a platform up and down to get all your stuff up and down.

With all those trees, you could do a Swiss Family Robinson treehouse village project. I hope the deck doesn't get ripped apart in a storm when the trees sway. Another idea: put the driver's seat on a swivel, so you can enjoy a relaxing view from all positions.

Not sure I’ve ever been so excited to see a part 2 of a MSR vid, then I saw my comment pop up 😆 This is a great clubhouse, treehouse, adult playground (that sounds iffy doesn’t it) and tree stand all in one. I knew Chris would want to use it, and I’d be amazed if he doesn’t have 3 video ideas brewing. I feel like even now, there are still so many possibilities for expansion, the moment you said EWOK VILLAGE… I’m certain I’m not the only adult who would love to have their own Ewok village, so let’s go! I really should have seen the skylight coming, but I was thrilled by it. I’m betting you can build something above it for Chris’ idea to snipe there. Also can’t wait to see the kids play on it! Oh - zip line! My brain is mashing up my fantasy of Swiss Family Robinson, Lost Boys hideout (Pan not vampire), and Ewok village… I’m seeing suspension bridges, pulleys of various kinds, and different levels of platforms between other structures. Zach Fowler made a bear-safe platform with a ladder that used a weighted pulley system to allow it to flip up and down as needed. That would be interesting to see something similar in your village!

Now all you need to do is make a walk way to other tree's close by so you can build a small city of tree houses that you can walk to by either ropes to swing to or rope bridges. Now that would be awesome. Great work and please keep it going.

I really enjoyed this. Was hoping you’d end up adding the deck onto it. Love you added the grill up there also. The birds nest is really cool. Now that you’ve cleaned out the whole front part on the inside you’ve got everything you need to stay in there except for a big screen to watch movies or tv on. You can put it up in the front now to pull up and down when needed. I can’t wait to see a 3rd part.

It needs a projector on the roof and a roll down screen in the trees for a drive in movie experience. Also the Zip Line I suggested in the previous video, too. 👍🏻

Kevin your kiddos are still little. But man when they get old enough they are going to want friends to come over & stay at the property. It’s like a poor man’s version or maybe vision of a wonderland. All the tags, forts, paintball gun wars & whatever else you come up with in the meantime. I can’t remember you have a zip line somewhere there already don’t you? I’m surprised Chris’s son hasn’t asked for a buddies summer night out. Flashlight tag, kick the can. Childhood memories…..those are what we remember when we are older. Not playing 2 hours of pac man. Looks cool!!

I'm loving everything you've done here. Curious... if you made the slide leave from the floor level of the van - rather than the half height of the door - you would slide down so hard, and it might beasier to mount - from either the passesnger door, or the sliding side door. That way you could still open the front passenger door as well. Your crow's nest cicular hammock is pure gemius!
