I have lots of little cubbies/ nooks that my husband built into walls for me. I love them! Most of them are small areas which made it very hard to spackle, but they look awesome holding just one item or a small collection. We also did a recessed mirror in the foyer! Everyone loves it!

Usually 1/4" drywall is used with scoring of the back much closer together on the arch to create a smoother arching. That said, I like that the shelves are built in and it adds interest to your home's kitchen area. You have great design instincts. Your reworking of your spaces are really creative and livable.

Thank you for the words of encouragement for people like me who fear an ugly, unprofessional outcome. What's funny is that I just had an epiphany this year regarding that very thing. I said to myself, "Why should you expect a professional looking outcome when it's your first attempt ever?!" Lol! I realized how silly I'd been, and that the only way to get better is to practice. Right now, I have a number of projects that need finishing touches (stain). I've made a plant bench, a hanging plant tray as well as a plant "stool" with leftover material. Just to get away from the plant theme, I also made a bath tray. Yes, they're all simple, and if someone should see them they'd be kind of meh about it. It doesn't stop me from being proud of what I've accomplished. (I left off my fireplace rehab. That one has me a bit overwhelmed at the moment.) Thank you for another great video!

II's beautiful, and I love your "Embrace the imperfections" mindset. I want to make one! Especially into the gallery rails. I have a time-saving tip for your next drywall project: 20-minute mud is a game-changer for being able to save nearly a day of drying time. You can't use it for your final coat - doesn't sand as easy - but it is brilliant for the first coat. I buy it dry and just mix as much as I need. Vancouver Carpenter is my favourite KZbinr for drywall advice - he's made me a much better drywaller.

Is an easy way to curve drywall is to wet one side bend it, then let it dry into the curve. You might have to do it a few times to get that tight of a curve. There is also 1/4" drywall that might work better. You did a great job with the materials that you had.

I have been considering this very thing in my dining room for some time now. The room isn’t very big and I want to eliminate the large hutch and buffet but still have dishes and other items on display. This is a video that I can show a carpenter or remodeler to explain what I want. I won’t attempt to do this myself because I have no experience with power tools. Although I do have experience with home repairs etc. thanks for the video, it turned out great👍🏼

Love it! I hated some of the 80s/90s useless niches but this 😘. Such a beautiful and useful niche. I'd definitely do one by a back door or as a spice rack in the kitchen. I'm looking at all my walls differently now.

I love it so much that I’m kicking myself for not creating a built-in bookshelf in an existing arched nook in our old-but-new-to-us home. Anyone seeing your arched shelf is going to assume it’s original to the house. It looks like it was meant to be!

Stunning! The spoons were cool, but this is even better👌🏼 I agree that the "not perfect" leans into the age of the house.

I'm impressed! It looks really good. I've never done anything like that either, but now I'm looking around my house for a space to put in a recessed shelf. What a great idea and it looks so good.

Obsessed with your videos and projects! If we didn't have cinder block walls, I would absolutely want to do this! FYI, my little brother is an expert on arches and curved walls and he says much narrower cuts in the drywall would absolutely smooth things out. You rock!

I recently experienced table saw kickback and pivoted hard to spring yard work for a week. After getting some working safety features and a couple of rain days I’m ready ready to challenge myself again. Thanks for using all the tools…even the big scary ones.

I’ve been searching for inspiration & a guide on how to do exactly this & I found it! Currently renovating my condo, ripped out the bathroom medicine cabinet & turning it into this! Minus the arch (although I do love it). Thank you! Love it so much!
