Try installing Polymorph if you're having recipe conflicts, it allows you to switch between possible recipes. It can be a bit funky at times, but it's better than cheating items you need when they conflict with another stuff. Should be available for both Fabric and Forge, but I'm using it on Fabric myself. There's also addons for better integration with AE and refined storage, but didn't find any for Tom's or Mekanism.

The Mekanism devs really did a great job combining Sci-fi with proper, actually accurate chemical knowledge. And, for that matter, I realy enjoy these videos in general. Great balance of technical explanations for those who want it, and a good way to explain it for those who don't. They really make me want to play with create and the other engineering and science focused mods again.

@@matapavosgamer oh yeah, the reactor is a mess, but I was talking about the processing chains - they felt very well researched. From there, the reactor kind gets sci-fi'd away, but I can be okay with that, since it keeps a balance of realism and fun for the player.
@wolfaja7555 ай бұрын
As a nuclear operator I got to say this reactor would definitely not work but it is funny how just wrong some of it is. The control rods are made of lead. You have to be able to move them up and down so you have to have an entire mechanism that uses ferrous metals and copper wiring to achieve this. You also can’t use lead as a good effective control rod because it’s microscopic cross section of absorption for neutrons might be higher than average but it’s not high enough to kill the reaction. Also they don’t move at all so they’re at the bottom of the core all the time meaning you can’t have any control over the reaction. Another thing is the reactor just wouldn’t work. They make you take uranium and go through 400 steps just to make something that won’t work. You take the uranium and you form it into a rod and plate it with some type of non corrosive metal and boom you got a fuel rod. You have the fuel rod chill in the core and when you want to make the reactor critical you just got to pull the rods out while maintaining a slightly positive start up rate until you hit the POAH and boom you got a perfectly functioning reactor kinda. I say kinda because the water in this reactor is not only the coolant and the moderator but also the secondary??? If you think about it the steam is somehow leaving from the bottom of the reactor and going into the turbine which means you would’ve needed to steam down to that hole. That’d cause a meltdown. Also you use the primary to cool the core then you send it through a steam generator where it transfers heat to the secondary side. The primary runs through tubes that heat up the water in the steam generators and that water evaporates and goes through the turbine. You can then exhaust this steam or in some plants recondense the heat steam and use it again. There’s a secondary for so many reasons it’s and it’s funny how it’s just not even there. Think about it, if you’re cooling the core with water and then you send it through a turbine and exhaust it into to atmosphere you’re now just spreading slightly radioactive water vapors everywhere. You also have a secondary because you can then pressurize the primary to extreme pressures to achieve a temperature above 212F or 100C which would greatly increase your power output and reactors actually love to stay above the boiling point of water at atmospheric pressure. There are two other things, one the turbine is vertical and not on its side. I’m not saying it’s wrong but I’ve operated three reactors and I’ve never seen that before. Secondly there is not an ounce of shielding anywhere. Typically you have shielding around the core and then shielding around the room the reactor is in or you shove it in the ground away from everyone. Even with a small reactor like this the time it’d take for it to fry you is not a long time and it’d be very painful. Also that turbine is way too big for that little reactor. This is one of those things where you know too much and you start to cry laughing at how something would never work. Gotta love it.

I've seen a few other commenters say this, but you can pipe water from the turbine back into the reactor through the saturating condensers. The water ratio is nearly 1:1, so as long as you have another small water pump to support it you should be able to bump up the rate. If you are sick of waiting for the pellets, you could scale up the reactor, though you also would need to scale up the turbine. Final side note, if you do scale up the reactor, I would recommend using a resistive heater to burn off the excess energy, as it can clog the system and melt down the reactor. P.S: Try eating a pellet ;)

A friend of mine and I recently encountered the pain with Tom's Storage ya are describing. After a LOT of troubleshooting on my friend's part (He's the Server Host.) it was determined that we had made a grievous error... that sadly was my idea to start with. We are using Item Vaults hooked together to a Inventory Connector and he says they have a 'Vision Range' PBAoE around them of 8x8x8 Blocks, and he was using Vaults of up to 3x3x7 in size... vertical 3x3 Layers 8 and 9 would stick out of this Radius. I assumed that this wouldn't be a problem cause the Item Vaults in their fully assembled form act as if they're a single Storage Item. Turned out this was SO FRICKIN WRONG... D: Item Disappearance never to be seen or heard from again happened when it turned out I deposited some Blaze Burners, a big ol' heap of 5,000 somethin Cobbled Deepslate, and a big ol' heap of 2,000 somethin Tuff and they ended up stored in Item Vault storages spaces occupying that Item Vault's 8th and 9th vertical layers... the ones outside that Inventory Connector's 'PBAoE Vision Radius'... Upon logging out and no one being on the Server anymore, it's seeming like those Items, because they were outside the Inventory Connector's range, went unnoticed, thus never got saved, so they disappeared into a Void, never to be seen or heard from again. My friend and I are now chicken of the thought of ever having ANY amount of Item Vault outside this 8x8x8 PBAoE Range ever again... D: I hope I explained it well enough... I suck at Eloquence...

For your reactor, id suggest connecting some piping from the turbine vents to a reactor input port to grab the water the steam turbine produces from steam that the reactor makes. Its a closed loop system and it's a 1:1 conversion. Only thing you should be careful about is the production rate of water (how much water the turbine can make in a tick) to how much water the reactor burns (heating rate) if the heating rate is higher than the production rate of water your reactor will lose water and result in a explosion. But besides that it will help you get a higher burn rate of fissile fuel because your reactor will be more adaquately cooled. Steam turbine ^ ⬇ Steam Water ^ ⬇ Reactor

I'm not bored, I'm not overwhelmed either by info or someone yelling loudly and quickly, and your voice is pleasant. Clear pronunciation. I know a lot of that boils down to "You didn't bother me" but my brain is weird and I get sensory overload from a lot of people that cannot stop spazzing the camera around and shouting. You're calm without being dry. On the other hand, my upper bound for "this is too technical for me" is parts of DoshDoshington videos and I still watch them. Do I know what the hell is going on in the circuit builds he makes? Nope, but I'm still enjoying it. This video is orders of magnitude less complex relative to that, and you've got good charisma.

I've had like 2 and almost a third of these explode on me lmao. First two a skill issue because I didn't have the turbine dumping energy when it got full so it just.. stopped accepting water pretty sure for both cases.. Then trying to make a much bigger one my boiler just randomly had a cutoff point where it wouldn't boil the water from sodium at a consistent rate randomly, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why after basically bankrupting myself to make a reasonably fast antimatter factory, only being able to run it at like 1/8th the speed... fun times.. Radiation decays at a suprisingly fast rate though. And having radiation next to a river literally gives you free food in the form of tonnes of fish dying from radiation whilst it sticks around. I was giving out radioactive fish as gifts whenever I visited friends' bases lmao. Had hundreds of them.
