Welcome to another episode of Trailmakers! The game has recently been updated with a newly revamped Christmas Island! It has ski slope style terrain, so I thought it would be a fun challenge to build a snowboarder version of Buster!

Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

Reindeer demolition joust. The build is shaped like a reindeer and you try to use the antlers to joust each other/ destroy their build

Do a present drop challenge! You build a sleigh where the only forward propulsion is your "reindeer" and you have to drop "presents" closest to the tree!

This was *SO GOOD*! You make it look easy, that was a great creation, and the painted version with the sweater was just perfect!

It's always funny how well skis work for builds like this, you'd think they'd slip and slide around everywhere, but the flat contact surface paired with their unique friction properties makes them surprisingly stable (even without gyros). The aesthetics were definitely on-point with this one and the little character "backpack" was quite amusing, lol As for more holiday-themed ideas, one very obvious one comes to mind: snowball cannon destruction derby

Well now it'd make thematic sense. You have either a 1 v 3 or 3 v 1 avalanche survival game. Either, 1 person is on top with a bunch of snowball spawners and they're rolling them down the mountain at 3 in just-powerful-enough vehicles to get up to him with first one to the top wins. Or, flip it and have 3 on top with limited snowball launchers and 1 at the bottom with a tanky build and whoever lasts longest. Basically like an "abominable snowman" avalanche challenge. But this is the time for the snowball launcher to make sense!!!! One more suggestion, I came up with this after playing around on the seasonal island, downhill sleds. It's a lot more difficult to get down the hill on a simple non-powered sled, but that'd be the challenge.

Multiplayer suggestion: Everyone builds 2 vehicles. First race up the mountain in off road / snow vehicles , then switch into sled and race back down.

Multiplayer idea: having a ski trick competition with 6 people, 1 competitor and 5 judges and everyone takes turns going on the jump and then the judges give a score and the person with the most points wins

Have a creation at the top of the hill that spawns snow ball continuously and the challenge is the first one that reach the top with a car

This is a great idea and would be fun to watch , but I believe the dispensers have a limited spawn amount so the snowballs would start to despawn fairly quickly. You could maybe build something that dropped a line of snowballs (staggered to create a wave) every minute/30 seconds or so.

Do a snow sports trick challenge off the jumps, coolest trick without getting damaged wins, you can make any snowsport thing(ski, board, sled) as long as it only gets its speed from gravity.

How about a Snowmobile Pursuit Race or something? Chased team are trying to survive in an offroad truck or something of the sort, while being fired upon by the Chasing team, who pursue with weaponised snowmobiles (maybe try a round with snowball dispensers too lol). A 2v2 challenge, one team member builds the offroader, the other builds the snowmobiles. Longest-surviving team wins!

Santa's Sled race. Basically a sled that's pulled by 'deer' in a pod-racer style race with skies. That or get an impartial judge, go backwards up a hill and treat it as a jump and do tricks.

Either an evolution of snowmobiles to go down as a race, or do another snowball battle, it could be good to do that in the centre around the tree, to make it much faster and higher stakes

I think it would be cool to see Sleigh battles, but the sleds are weaponized with present catapults. And the presents can be explosive or not.

Try messing with the gravity! But have everyone build either Bob sleds or do you remember those ski sleds with steering wheel with ski out front and a ski on each side? Those things were baller when we kids, and extremely fast. Good times and broken collarbones. Lol

Challenge idea - Snowmobile with belt drive only. No wheels on the ground, no thrusters of any kind. Round1 simple straight run to see who's is fastest Round2 slalom Round3 Stick some non-aiming guns on there and do the slalom again

If I have a christmas-wish for the developers: I really wish for the large propeller to get it's model fixed. It's blades are perpendicular to what they should be. Contrary to popular belief, it's not and update, it was here last year as well. While there are some new features, this is simply due to better game software that allows for more decorations and more complex terrain. There should be an interactive present near the shoreline.

It is an update of sorts. It's a seasonal event, meaning it's not in the game all the time. It's just not an update as in bringing new additional content never before seen in the game. I guess it all depends on how you define an update. For me, due to my work, any change to the game code equates to an update. However, that's just me.
