I have a lot of the same things for my cat, spread around my small apartment. Something that I do for my kitty is have a box, on top of a crate so it's windowsill hight, and feed the birds outside the window. It's seriously one of the best ways to stimulate your fur baby. I call them "her birdies" and the squirrels are "her babies". (She's fixed and never had kittens. I made damn sure about that. Another thing I've done for her is to harness and leash train her, as a kitten, so she can go out on my second story deck. That way she can enjoy the outside without decimating the local wild life.

Another thing cats generally really like, through it's a bit more time consuming, is making places where she can get up, like planks mounted to the wall or a little staircase to the top of a closet. Cats love to get to higher ground so they can look around.

I made a cat tunnel for my girls out of cartons from my 12 packs of beer. They loved it! Cardboard, and the little holes for carrying the twelve packs were fun for them to attack each other.. loved to watch those sweet, but lethal, precious paws pop out of those holes Got some side eye from folks who saw all the cartons, when they realized how much beer I drink. Oh well, cheap, useful, big fun for the ladies, and I kept the cartons out of the landfills. Win win! Beer drinking cat owners tip: 12 pack cartons for bottled beer, open the bottom and just slide the boxes together. Turn them in different directions so the hand openings are in different spots. Cats will go nuts with happiness, and if they claw the heck out of them, it is ok, because I always need more beer. Depending on how much of a lush you are, the tunnels can get really long.❤️🐾🐾🐾🐾

That looks awesome. I do think with as involved as you are with her, it's worth considering teaching her to talk. I mean, maybe she won't like it. Not all cats do. But there's some pretty interesting stuff once the cats' vocabularies get built up enough to express things. (examples of talking cats are BlliSpeaks, catmanjohn, and ToddTalks. I think one of my favorites is Billi's critique of Hamilton. or Billi naming her owner's BFF Squirrel.) Anyway, teaching your cat to talk can have healthcare benefits, as you can get them to tell you if they feel sick to their stomach (one cat finally got an IBS diagnosis before any problems set in because he told his mom he felt sick). So it's worth considering if you haven't seen those types of channels before. Whether you do that or not, best of luck and Layla is adorable.

Hey Christian! I love watching your videos with girlie. One thing to mention is the yarn in her toybox. Because of the barbs on cat tongues, licking it can cause them to ingest it so can be dangerous for them. I you might want to throw that out. I wonder if that’s why we don’t find the fishing for toys with the raffia on them anymore. My cats used to love that too. Take care!

Also, have you considered mounting some staggering shelves on the area of the room of the walls so she can run around up there as well? Like start off with some low shelves to climb up, then gradually until they're higher on the wall, either staggered or straight, and she'll LOVE IT. Show us if you decide to do so, and credit me if you do. Layla is so cute and tiny. I had a white Siamese flame point that was small like that, his name Polymer. I had him for three Christmases and he died from dehydration when we were made houseless from my boss stopping paying me because wanted to essentially fuck me and I said no. We wound up living at an airport, and that was it. I thought about Polymer everyday for three years.

So i dont know about Layla but does she like plants? My cat absolutely loves them, whether its grass the can chew on or the plants on our balcony planter, where she can sit on the dirt, hidden between a few plants, or just pot plants that she loves to sit between. cats are 100% needy, just in a different way. Best way to describe it is cats are introverts vs dogs are extroverts. If you leave your cat misses you, even if they might not show it when you get back. Cats can get board which is actually why they might start destroying your house. THIS IS A CAT PLAYGROUND! It helps keep your cat active!
