When you want a panel to fit as tight across a counter, floating shelf or anything for that matter, if its all not massively out of square take three measurements, one from the left and right edge of where the panel will be on the wall to the ceiling and one from the center of where the panel will be. Then draw a line connecting all 3 and that's your cut line. If the floating shelves (or whatever) are completely level you will measure and cut from the non level side which will be the ceiling, make sure to keep everything orientated correctly.
@WillsWhereabouts

This is bloody great to know so thanks very much, I think a big problem I’ve had is changing the orientation of things as I’ve carried them up and down so then it’s confused me hah

I do my own DIY, but I’m not a joiner or have a lot of experience, but when putting on wall panels I found this the best way. I cut the panel the best I can, then I use one of those shape tracers, with all the moving pins in to find the shape I need at top and bottom. I trace the shape onto the panel and then use a jigsaw to cut it very carefully. It usually works ok for me. There maybe a more professional way of doing it, but this is what I found to be the easiest. I just keep learning as I go too. you’ve done a great job Will. You’ve come a long way. Well done mate, we are all very impressed and proud of you xxxx

another brilliant job ,loved the way you tackled the ceiling lights ,and very few properties are exactly square all round so well done on the accoustic wall panels am thinking of using similar when i do the outside of the shower walls when i do my van build just got too see how much they weigh ,as for prints for your walls why not get some of the photos from your trips with evie and get them turned into canvasses that way they are personalised and can be added to as and when you go on new adventures,one little tip i found was too secure light pendant with a couple of cable ties to ceiling mount while you wire it up you can also add a piece of nylon covered picture hanging wire trapped under the mount to help support the weight of the pendant this will tuck up out of the way when it comes to attaching them fiddly little pesky screws that go in the sides ,once again give yourself a large pat on the back for the great job you have done

What I see done with drywall patching is to not just plaster the exact area being patched but spread it out like two feet or so, so that the transition from original to patch is more difficult to notice versus a mountain of plaster in on spot. You had me worried there for a second that you had NO TV mount screws into studs but thankfully you did. Did you happen to get a value before reno and a value after?

As I'm in Australia I figured that first I need to see if they are even available here in Australia, and they are. Easy fill is great for filling plasterboard joints without skimming over with plaster. It’s easy to work (clue is in the name) and because it’s fine grained, you can sand it down to a properly flat and smooth finish… dust gets everywhere though!

I wouldn't worry as much getting the cut perfect at the top next to the roof as its less visible rather than at the bottom. As for measuring maybe use a level and draw a line below the roof then measure from that line then add the length from the cupboard as that is also level if you installed it correctly. I'd say you need to plan better where its easier to hide your mistakes or where it matters less. Only you actually care and notice your mistakes regularly unless you point them out to someone. Have a closer look around public builds and you'll see plenty of small imperfections, you can almost always find a gap at the top of the door trimmings where it don't perfectly line up.
@WillsWhereabouts

@WillsWhereabouts curtains look better if they got more volum. From google: To achieve a full, aesthetically pleasing look, your curtains should generally be twice the width of your window. ... so with this in Mind, if you buy a second curtain, extend the Pole bar a wee bit, then you will achieve this.

I know all about how difficult it is to replace ceiling lights from the top of a stepladder. I've had to replace multiple LED downlights all over our house, (and even a few on the car porch), over the years, and not only does it require enough light to see what you're doing, but puts strain on your arms as you hold up the fitting to be connected and then to hold it all in place and try to get the screws in each side of it, to affix it to the ceiling. A lot easier said that done. Ideally, having a scaffold, (a plank between 2 stepladders), to stand on would alleviate the need to concentrate on keeping your centre of gravity in line with the step ladder, which is half the battle. The screwing in is easy enough, but it's getting everything to cooperate as you do it. As you mention, taking the glass parts off the lights you have would have made things a bit easier, not only to reduce the weight, but also remove the risk of them breaking if it did happen to fall off. You were also fortunate in having something to help you. I generally have to do it on my own. No room, regardless of its age, is truly square as far as the walls, floor and ceiling are concerned. You only find out how out of plumb they are when you start affixing squared pieces to fit up against it! The fact that they look square is something you can use to your advantage, by adapting the illusion yourself to fit your needs. From a vertical perspective, you have to be fairly accurate, but horizontally, you can get away with not being quite so accurate, especially when you can hide any discrepancy behind coving, picture rails or skirting. And, sure enough, it works really well in your case.

Will, because of all your different wood grain colours in the apartment, you need to paint all your doors white to match the window and door frames.

Absolutely loved watching these videos .. I’ve been laughing so much at all your frustrations! Very honest leaving all the mistakes in, I have pretty much made all the same mistakes that you have. Thinking you don’t have to waste money buying all of the tools needed then rummaging around the house trying to find something you can use in place of the tool, the kitchen spatula for the grout, the broom holding the light in place all made me laugh, thinking a quick job will take 10 mins but ends up taking 6 hours .. well done both your flat looks fabulous 👍
