You need stirrups (not actually) but something to keep your feet from sliding or slipping off when you are going forward - some kind of bracing

I second the lower the foot pads lower below the axle. Only have to lower them a couple inches and it will help stabilize.

That is awesome! I’ve got a one wheel and the thing will just shut off if you go to fast and throw you to the pavement like a rag doll. It looks like yours beeps and slows down. That’d be a nice feature. I really like the off road ability of it! Amazing job!

Not gonna lie I thought it was going to be a failure, nice work. Try out an electric unicycle like the kingsong 16x twice the range and ground clearance of the one wheel for the price and a bit easier to pack. Rips on single track and pavement.

Such a cool concept to build your own one wheel as an aircraft scout vehicle. 🤙 This sort of build where you show how you're literally slicing up and welding tubes together makes the whole process of building things from metal way seem super approachable. You could probably drop the pads a bit lower by building the foot platform off the lower frame, it'd make your mount a bit easier.

Put a sensor on it, so the motor won't engage unless it is horizontal and loaded on both platforms. And lower the platforms a few centimeters, to improve stability.

As a one wheel owner this thing would benefit big time from a flatter profile tire. That is why it seems to wander around at slower speeds. You maybe able to try less tire pressure to create a flatter tire surface Jonas. Looks awesome!

You need to have the standing plates on either side of the wheel in line with the axle, not on the side of the tread. And lower to the ground below the axle to give you stability.

Thom Besch agreed. I figured he would straddle the Wheel side to side with lower foot platforms. I think it would be more stable if they were lower and more comfortable to ride as well.

That would defeat the whole purpose of the mod, which was to replicate a Onewheel skateboard. If you put the platforms on the side you would just have an off brand Segway with no handle.

@@ThomBesch OneWheels do NOT have both feet straddling the wheel. Do the research before showing off your ignorance. onewheel.com/ Putting the feet fore and aft of the wheel gives you a lot better control. Think of it as a skateboard.
