Racing mowers here in North America are a little more advanced. Basically, they're mowers crossed with go-karts here. The top level mowers use V twin engines and many of them make more than 100hp. Lower level mowers use pretty much the same chassis usually, just with less power. They do all start as lawnmower chassis, but they get modified heavily.

The sentiment at the end about the breakdowns, that holds true for most forms of amateur motor racing. You can race cheap lawnmowers, classic cars (minis, HQ holdens in Aus, etc.), budget friendly options like Excel cup we have here, formula Vee, karts, superkarts, bikes, production sports they all have reliability problems. If you ever spend time at a racetrack during a meet, just take a look around at how many people are frantically working on their machines. Then there are all the people who have no idea what to fix, those who couldn’t make it because they couldn’t get their car ready on time, those who leave early because they broke down. Yeah seems to me there are more people with mechanical problems that drivers who jump in and are ready to go.

Did you put a torque converter? That could prevent the engine from stalling.
@dannywhite1325 жыл бұрын
That's not going to stop the engine stalling.... It's more likely the fact that under the seat there is a a dead man's switch that mean if you get off the mower the seat lifts up and the engines stops
@killaz1234567891005 жыл бұрын
@@dannywhite132 i think its cuz Wen u let off because he changed the gearing the drag of it turning the engine over faster than the firing order is running due to no throttle.. that is why it would stall. Plus it would help to remove muffler for a pipe and drill the jet out.

You can achieve the same result by taking off the blade bit, and then swapping the front and rear pulley. Did it to my mower, and now it does 40mph with no money invested in a new fancy axel. I use it for going around town, as it gets ~65 mpg. Only problem is braking, as it has none. Relies soley on engine braking, which does work wonders if you shift into lower gears. With the pully swap removing much torque, you actually do have to shift through the gears though, you can't just drop it in 5 and dump the clutch like you could previously.

It’s super easy to make mowers go fast I’ve gotten a 1985 craftsman mower to go 34+ mph with my buddies with no upgrades except changing the pulleys and ripping the governor off. We wanted to make it go faster by making the rear pulley smaller and the front bigger but we’ve got the biggest front pulley we could get at the store and the steering is super sketchy so we didn’t make the rear smaller.

Most lawn mowers have an oil sensor in their motor that shuts off the mower when the oil is low. This causes issues with high speed, as the sensor can easily be disrupted by the slusshing oil and cause the motor to turn off. This is likely the issue you were having!
